Metro 2033 supports DirectX11, as evident in eight new screens
114
Even if you don't know your tessellation from your displacement mapping, there's no denying that these freshly delivered screenshots of THQ and 4a Games' upcoming FPS Metro 2033 look stunning, thanks to the game's support for "a number of advanced DX11 features with the latest generation of DX11 graphics cards." These effects include the aforementioned tessellation, which produces rich detail from simple 3D surfaces, and some mighty-impressive depth of field camera focus effects.
NVIDIA is using Metro 2033 as an example of what's possible with its latest DX11-compliant GPUs, saying that "The 4A Engine is one of the most advanced game engines we've ever worked with, and with DX11 enabled, Metro 2033 is undoubtedly one of the best looking PC games of 2010." We agree -- it is very pretty in action, and the PC version we've seen wasn't yet employing any DX11 voodoo. Also, remember: In Soviet Russia, hardware tessellates you!

Get one, you won't regret it until Crysis 2 comes out and you wish you had a better rig.

I wasn't really serious. I'm sure you won't have as many problems with lower end rigs since the engine itself will be much more efficient but to have those fancy ulta-high settings you might still have to drop a new card in.

A gaming PC costs $150. If built from scratch you can get away with a $350-$600 PC that will play most games and Medium to Max settings and that's usually more than adequate for most PC games when comparing them to the console version.
Seriously. Any modern PC just needs a graphics card upgrade, basically. Maybe a power supply upgrade. The rest like, memory and a CPU are non issues now. If you have a Dual core you'll do fine in 99% of the games. You just need an average card to get good performance. You could even spend $100 and still match the current gen consoles in most games.

While you could theoretically buy a PC that will play some kind of game for $150, you're going to be paying a hell of a lot more than that to play stuff very well.
My $800 PC I built last year doesn't play the current BFBC2 beta as smoothly as my 360 does.
To get this level of graphics (and these may be bullshots for that matter, because if not they've probably trumped Crysis technically), you'll also at least need a high end DX11 graphics card. Not especially cheap!

He's not saying the whole PC costs $150. He's saying that anyone who has a modern pc can drop a $150 card in it and be able to play modern games. He didn't word it especially well but I thought his point was still pretty clear.

No no, his point wasn't clear at all. When someone says "A gaming PC costs $150." There is actually no other way to perceive that. Yes his wording was quite horrible and his point was nowhere clear.
On top of that, where in the world did he say anything about buying a $150 video card and throwing it in your PC?
Are you like one of those crazy people that can create things out of nothing??? O.o

Its not technically Stalker 2. The stalker series follows a different storyline but a lot of the same people are responsible for this project as were responsible for the original stalker game and the 2nd title in the series.
This series follows a book titled 'Metro 2033' which is a Russian Novel and the sequal 'Metro 2034' is also being release chapter by chapter online. The interesting thing is that the book was originally released for free online and became such a hit they made a paper-copy. Digital first, then digital fans bought the real thing.
The storyline is basically its after a nuclear holocaust (think Fallout 3) except were going above ground is not feasible. You can use your special helmet with oxygen supply but you can only be above ground for 15 minutes at a time. There's not countdown for the 15-minutes on screen. Instead, you press a key to bring up your watch and it shows you how much time is left on your watch timer. However, while you have your watch up, your gun is lowered/at your side and your unable to shoot. So its a bit of a trade-off. You don't want to be caught off-guard checking your watch during a firefight or while a mutant sneaks up on you.
The economy is suppose to be based of bullets. You trade ammunition for bigger guns, food, clothing, whatever. So rather than trading 'money' or 'credits' the people who live underground in the 'Metro' tunnels of Russia post-nuclear apocalypse trade bullets are currency which kind of makes sense. He with the most bullets for his weapons is in some ways the most rich.

I like my upgrades to be substantial. Judging by the screens, if I want my game to run and look good, $1500 should do the trick, give or take a hundred or two.

If you're talking about USD, that's totally overkill. Cards like the 5850 are better to get than, say, the 5900 due to the fact that there will be 59XX cards out relatively soon which will make your epic investment a complete waste. It's better to go for the lower high end than the upper high end. Being an early adopted never, ever pays off with PC parts.
Even if you got the 5900 though and, say, a high end i7 processor, that's still not $1500. You could get an entire top of the line PC for $1500.
I'm thinking you're probably new to this?

Stop being so condescending. I need a new motherboard, a case, cooling, a PSU, and some RAM. That, plus a processor and new card would most definitely be around $1500.

Well you specifically said "upgrade my current rig" in your original post, which is why $1500 sounded so outrageous. You've just listed pretty much everything that goes into a compute though, that's not upgrading your current rig, that's building a whole new machine.

You know, if I keep the steering wheel from my old car, but put it in a new car, I am not upgrading my old car, I am buying a new car.
Keeping the HDD and putting it in a brand new computer is not an upgrade. Buying a new part or two is an upgrade.
Did you even pass elementary school english?

First of all, no need to be so hostile. This is why I don't like dealing with elitists, especially PC ones. Blowing a simple matter out of proportion, insulting intelligence, and posing a hilariously unrelated question at the end (seriously, I don't remember elementary school English telling me how to build computers) just for the sake of making yourself look like you know more about computers.
Second, and once again, I'm failing to see why this is exactly a big deal. So I said "upgrade", what's the big deal? I think it's an upgrade because when I turn it on, my desktop will look exactly the same, just perform better. I don't need some snobbish gamers to tell me how wrong I am and that I haven't passed course in school. Yes, I would essentially be getting a new computer, but god forbid I want to say upgrade!
If you're getting kicks from proving absolutely nothing, then I'm not stopping you. Picking on no-brain people can be fun at times, especially if they're jackasses and in your face about it. But if you're going to categorize me as those people, I'm going to say something. I said something that you would bed to oppose. I respect that. I DON'T respect you being an asshole about it. Bottom line: stop being so smug. We're talking about video games here. Video games. The insults are unnecessary.

Built that ENTIRE RIG, including monitor, for $900. And I can run everything(sans Crysis and GTA IV) at 1080p MAXED out. I KNOW you can do a rig atleast TWICE as fast for that much now, so your $1500 is PURE BS, unless everything needs to be ULTRA HIGH END and you two 1600p monitors

No, it's okay, continue acting childish. Anonymity ensures your safety, compromise is unnecessary. Keep pestering people over a definition of a single word and you'll get far. Guaranteed.
