I think I'm gonna wait a few months on the Gold Edition. That game is in the wrong month. Seriously, FFXIII, Yakuza 3 and God of War III? I'm sure I'm missing some more.

And new release games tend to get marked down by amazon fast. I'll wait till it gets marked down to $30-35 and then I'll get it.

There's Just Cause 2 and If you're into FPS there's Bad Company 2.

I agree with you, there's a whole lot of good games coming out in March, but I don't expect RE5 GE be $30 - $35 anytime soon, because RE5 regular edition it's $30 now, even after 1 year.

I know $5 doesnt sound like much initially, but when you add the other pack, and the price of the game...that comes out to $70 for the "complete" package.

I think I'll pass unless Capcom decides to do a half off bundle sale when the other pack comes out.

I guess it would be $70 if you had purchased the game new for $60 on its release date. I assume most people here got it for around $50 on Amazon, or they waited longer and got it even cheaper.

It's a shame Capcom is even allowed to release anymore Resident Evil stuff with the departure of Shinji Mikami to Platinum Games. RE5 was a straight crap fest.

Lest we forget...

True, I also liked this one, but I'm not saying that it isn't RE4.5, either. The co-op is what really pulled this one from the depths for me.

I liked it as well. It was basically the same thing as Resident Evil 4 with better graphics and better action. For people that don't like RE5 there is always Dead Space. In terms of Platinum Games ... they haven't made a game better than RE5 so the point is moot.

I agree with Cody, RE5 was really bad. I still can't wrap my mind around what people find enjoyable about it. It was probably the least fun I've had with a game in this generation.

RE5 was a let down, even considering it's 4.5. I agree with the original poster. Everything about 4 IMO was better, except the graphics, of course.

Any word on how long this DLC will be? Judging by the last DLC for ACII and Dragon Age I'm sure there's someone on here who's already beaten it and is ready to complain about how short it is.

I played RE4 on different platforms all the way through more than a dozen times. RE5 was such let down I literally put it down on the first level. So no, I will not have capcom's back on this one. Special games only happen a few times per decade.

I'm just curious about something: If you loved RE4 why wouldn't you like RE5? They're very similar with RE5 having superior graphics and better action. The only thing I really missed from RE4 was collecting the treasures and combining them to make other treasures. They still have treasures in RE5 but it's not the same. I think the co-op actually makes RE5 a better game overall than RE4. This, from a guy that also beat RE4 at least a dozen times between the 'Cube and PS2. What was it about RE5 that made it so much worse than RE4 to you?

This is the one time ever that I will probably agree with Tigre. True, RE5 didn't have that je nais ce quois (sp?) that made 4 so special, but it was still a really solid game that I ended up playing through 3 or 4 times (not including treasure/achievement runs.) If the new content is even on parity with the game itself, I'll have no problem spending an extra $10 on it (I got RE5 new for $35 so either way, I'll come out ahead.)

I agree with uber. RE4 was great - it maintained the RE feel and made some much needed upgrades. RE5 just felt like an arcade version, meant to be run through at breakneck speed. It didn't feel like a real RE game and the store sucked.

$10 for the two episodes isn't that bad. I already have the original game, and I have no interest in buying costume packs.

I was planning on buying the Gold Edition down the road after it dropped in price, but it actually kind of makes sense to buy it online.

RE5 was not too bad, especially when played with a friend as a co-op partner.
But I agree, the series needs a solid reboot less action, more horror.

They are having a problem with the Games on Demand version and the DLC (all DLC-- Versus, Lost in Nightmares in the Costume Pack). I posted a video about it on YouTube. DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU ARE GETTING THE GAMES ON DEMAND VERSION until this is resolved.

"...$50, a modest discount for anyone who didn't pick up the original RE5 when it dropped last March."

I don't see how. You can pick up RE5 for $30 (or as low as $20 some places), and then two $5 add-on DLC packs do not add up to $50.

well all the dlc together is $19 (Versus, LiN, and DE plus the 2 costume packs)

so $30 + $19 = $49 so its pretty close

I'm starting to think a lot of people played Resident Evil 5 "wrong". I knew going in that the game looked like it was meant to be played co-op. So I bought the game and invited a friend over, and we played the whole game together (the first play through). It was one of the coolest experiences I've had in gaming. Neither one of us knew any of the tricks to fighting bosses or getting through levels, and we had to figure it out together. Also, we had no idea when something was going to jump out and start attacking us.

In fact, I really want to play the game again, but I'm afraid I won't enjoy it as much since that first experience was so cool for me.

I'd like to know how long this episode lasts, if you don't rush through it on a speed run. $5 is pretty good if it's at least 2 hours, I thought I read a while ago that they were only 1 hour though. For 1 hour I probably wouldn't buy it.

Am I the only one that thinks that $50 for the Gold Edition is too steep?

RE5 Retail Price - $30
Desperate Escape - $5
Lost in Nightmares - $5
Costume Pack 1 - $2
Costume Pack 2 - $2

Total - $44. Where's that extra $6 going? Steelbooks can't be that much. Look at Force Unleashed's Ultimate Sith Edition: $40 for 3 DLC episodes plus the game on two discs.

You forgot the Vs. mode DLC, which retailed at $5. The total value would then be $49, which is close enough to $50.

Jill's only unlocked after the 1st run through.
Took me just under 1 hour, and that was messing around a bit with the passwords!
For 400ms points i suppose, its o............k?
BUT having said that i guess i was just expecting more, its almost like a VERY small chapter, with a boss.
It's criminal the sheer lack of zombies, not even a dog to be seen, would have been a nice retro to res evil 1.
Over all rather underwhelmed, a 4 out of 10.
But again for 400ms points, it's not like your paying over the odds for it!

PS....

Thought I'd post this just incase anybody's interested.

If you investigate the mansion door at the start of the chapter 3 times a question mark will appear and you ll get the old skool fixed camera angle from the 1st RE games to play the game through!
