StarCraft 2 PC Beta client is now live [update]

Quick, stop reading this post and head on over to Battle.net to grab the PC beta client for StarCraft 2! (It appears the Mac client is not available yet). Of course, you must have previously volunteered for the beta at Blizzard's site, so if this sentence is news to you, then ... sorry. You're what scientists call out of luck.

The client weighs in at 1.64GB and will take a while to download, so have a crossword handy. See you out there!

Update: Blizzard has revealed the minimum system requirements for the beta. Check 'em out past the break.
PC Minimum Requirements:

Windows XP SP3/Vista SP1/Windows 7
2.2 Ghz Pentium IV or equivalent AMD Athlon processor
1 GB system RAM/1.5 GB for Vista and Windows 7
128 MB NVidia GeForce 6600 GT/ATI Radeon 9800 PRO video card
1024x768 minimum display resolution
4 GB free hard space (Beta)
Broadband connection

Wait where is it? I logged in my account with the registered key but it isnt there.

Mine wasn't either. I won mine from the Twitter contest and was told it would be credited when the beta began. Any one else got their Twitter contest one?

I won the contest and don't have the Beta yet.

You're not guaranteed an invite. Although there are more incite going out later. Blizzard send invites out in waves, every couple of days or so. Sometimes a full wave takes up to a day so check constantly, I know I will *grumble grumble*

Huh, I wonder if my computer will be able to handle this when it comes out. Looks more interesting than the first one. (Which isn't to say I don't like the first one).

I dont understand why I get voted down for this... I am excited for starcraft... its just we have been told 2008, 2009, and now 2010.

So confirmed 2010. Im looking at a christmas gift cause it will probably be released around then.

You mean they don't release _Starcraft_ games... As I recall, World of Warcraft is made by Blizzard. Oh, and it made them bajillions of dollars too. Probably more than Starcraft ever did or will.

It's not up in my account yet either. I'm guessing it will be released to people in different phases as usual. Might want to include that in the post. :P

I knew better, but the OP was misleading in making us think that its there and ready to download if you singed up for beta at all, period. I want beta.

Yes, I'd imagine your invites or clients would be available first. Keep us posted if you get it.

To sign up you needed to have a Blizzard account with a game in it. I didn't really want to buy a game so I could get early access to another game I might buy when it comes out eventually.

I was excited for this game when it was announced. But after waiting for almost 3 years (May 19th, 2007) my enthusiasm has waned.

If you didn't even pay $10-20 just to pick up the original StarCraft, I can't see how you're even close to excited about StarCraft 2. I've been waiting almost 12 years for the sequel.

I had a Battle.net account, with more than 1 game, and currently no invite.

@Ignatius Just because I didn't buy it doesn't mean I didn't play it. The original game had multiplayer install for LAN play. Used to go over to a friend's place and play vs on his two computers.

I had 2 computers at my place as well, but I had Red Alert. At least, until Total Annihilation came out, then we never played either again, really...

Not exactly the greatest post, and kinda misleading.

Some more screenshots of what you saw when you were able to download it would have been helpful, instead of implying that the beta is open to everyone who signed up for Beta testing immediately.

For those of you wondering, you'll get an email from Blizzard when you have access to the beta. That's the word going around some of the SC2 sites.

I have a button that says SC2 Beta.. but i cant click it.... NOEZ

After I saw this post, I checked my battle.net account and didn't see it. But I swear to god it must have appeared when I scrolled down the page or something because it's there. It shows up with your regular games.

And I'm stuck at work. GAAAH.

Curious, did you have the SC Beta icon up on the top right near the "Beta-Opt In"
link in your account page for awhile now?

Last time I as in my battlenet was trying to get my account unhacked by Blizzard support and didn't notice that icon back then. I currently have the same Icone "SC Beta" but no e-mail or client to download.

Wondering that icon simply means you did apply or if it means your accepted and just have to wait for client to appear and email sent.
