It's a shame, Deadly Creatures was quite good. Worth grabbing from the bargain bin if you see it.

I couldn't agree more. Definitely worth having. It did have some issues, but overall it's a fun game.

I personally didn't enjoy it that much. The spider levels were kind of fun, and the game would have been enjoyable if it was all spider ... but I really didn't enjoy any scorpion levels. Not a bad game by any means, but I would have enjoyed it a lot more if it were two different campaigns, and I could completely ignore half of the game.

Just my opinion, certainly nothing wrong with others enjoying the game :)

Homefront could be amazing.

Next Red Faction is BOUND to be amazing.

Saints Row is...Saints Row.

THQ is on their shit, man...

I would have dismissed Homefront as cheesy uber-patriotic dressing on a generic shooter if the story didn't happen to be written by the very same guy who practically defined cheesy uber-patriotism by writing the script for Red Dawn.

WOLVERIIIIINES!

I still have what amounts to an irrational distaste for all things THQ because of all of the licensed garbage they put out almost 20 years ago.

Darksiders? Red Faction Guerilla? 2 recent THQ-published games with a lot of critical buzz. Somehow, though, I keep thinking of "Wayne's World" and "Home Alone" for the 16-bit consoles.

McBrick, we all saw our fair share of terrible wrestling, Nickelodeon and other licensed properties, but I can assure you, Darksiders, Saints Row 2 and - from my limited play time - Red Faction: Guerilla all feel like the work of an entirely different company. Metro 2033 looks set to continue that trend.

I also used to have a bad taste in my mouth from THQ's older games, but they really are turning around with excellent game quality and fan service. Who expected to be getting a free copy of Red Faction w/ that coupon in Darksiders?? THAT's how you treat your customer!

The weirdest thing about Homefront is there's supposed to be an actual remake of Red Dawn this year.

Call me petty but the only reason I haven't picked up Saints Row 2 yet is because they still haven't added Trophy support. I'm really amped for the third one at least though.

I wouldn't call you petty. I'd call you a trophy whore. But it's ok. I constantly border on achievement whore myself. I'm not picking up Avatar: Air Bender or whatever it's called. But I do check achievement lists within the first hour or two.

I still get that same feeling about seeing the THQ label that I got from seeing the Acclaim label back in the day, bu THQ has actually improved a bit since the old days.

And speaking of color-blindness, De Blob is another game that the demo gave me some trouble with, trying to paint the buildings but not be able to tell some of the colors apart well enough. Kind of fun, apart from that.

I hope they don't mess with the Saints Row formula too much. SR2 was about perfect from a gameplay perspective and I loved the goofy over-the-top story. Just nail the technical issues (better framerate, less pop-in, better collision / physics / driving) and I'll be happy as a clam.

Really looking forward to seeing SR3 and RF -- SR2 was my GotY 2008 and RF:G was in my top 3 for GotY 2009. Good stuff.

I'm there with you guys.

I loved Red Faction: Guerilla.

Hopefully this time around they'll do better at rewarding the player for being subtle, though.
Allow for a BIT more sneaky sneaky than they did last time around.

Other than that, I LOVED IT!

"And Saints Row 3 will evidently cause some to remark, 'This is not your father's THQ.'
"

Please don't mess with the Saint's Row formula too much THQ. I have fears they will try to make it more serious like GTA4.

the next saints row needs better graphics, the next red fatction needs big cities, and both DO NOT NEED SCREEN TEARING. screen tearing was terrible in saints row 2 it was almost constant.

I'm curious. What version did you play SR2 that showed you "almost constant" screen tearing?

I played it on 360, and rarely noticed any tearing. Bottom line, it was a damn fun game, which gave me much more enjoyement compared to GTA IV.

New Red Faction and Saint's Row games will be day one purchases for me, and that's saying a lot. The last iterations of those series were some of the best games I played in the past year.

I mean, I played Saint's Row 2 for hours on end last month. I loved it so much that I invited a friend over to show it off, and he ended up playing for six hours straight. It really is a game you can just pick up for the first time and have a blast playing.

Having zero learning curve can be a great boost to a fun game. The same goes for Red Faction...

Saints Row 2 was perfect in every department. making a skinny guy with a Scottich accent or austrailian ( can't remember ) Streaking the sity and dropping the F bomb while flipping the bird at people was funny and fun too do. updating the crib and taking out new gangs was awesome. the hidden story with Julian was not too bad.

i was really hoping too see King back from the 1st one into the 3rd Saints Row. only thing Saints row 2 missed was Trophy Support but i found it alot more Fun and better then GTA IV

I absolutely loved SR2. My character was a massively fat asian dude with a high ponytail, clownface, and completely naked except for a neon polkadot thong. It was especially awesome in the cutscenes. And the co-op was perfect! I loved being able to do EVERYTHING co-op, from the main missions to the stupid side games, to just stealing two airplanes and dogfighting.

I think I would have given good, hard-earned money to have seen the article begin with..."at an IGN BBQ, THQ CEO..." Would have made my day.

And for the record, Deadly Creatures was actually pretty decent. Wish they'd bring it to XBLA and PSN.

Man that line about the Warhammer 40k mmo totally slipped past your radars huh? It's something I noticed when researching darksiders, is that the only game vigil has made was Darksiders, and the only other game they're working on is the 40k mmo.

Sounds like a promising dev team
