Layoffs at Neversoft, and now essentially saying we probably should have bought Harmonix instead.

Morale must be great over at Neversoft.

My god, its even uglier in person, without all the highly paid photoshoppers to make it look somewhat human for all those PR images we've seen of it.

Plus, look at the picture? What do you see?

Look at his face. It's demonic. And I seriously doubt that comment about taking the fun out of games was supposed to be humorous. It seems just like him.

Man.

You'd think people would make fun of this guy for being a chub, instead of Gabe Newell.

At least he actually deserves it.

I duno dude, I do love me some Gabe Newell, but Kotick has been the dude trying to turn things around at EA. Now not from a business perspective, but from a consumer standpoint. I haven't ever been more happy with the games coming out of EA's myriad studios as I have been in the last three years.

Stay fat, stay jolly, stay gold!

Um, Kotick works for Activision. Riticello works for EA. It's in the article's title.

No, I'd say he's turning things around for Electronic Arts. People used to think of them as evil, but now everyone thinks that way about Activision instead!

We can only thank our lucky stars that he never came to boston to see harmonix otherwise rhythm games as we know it would be going down the toilet with guitar hero. thank god we still have rock band to make us proud.

In all seriousness, his statements here have made him seem... less evil... than I had previously of him.

I don't think anyone likes the fact that so many developers were laid off... but, hell, Activision put a LOT of staff behind one thing: **** Hero. Countless Guitar Hero, one Band Hero, and one DJ Hero were released last year. When they say they're focusing their efforts on lesser releases this year... well, how'd you think that reduced output would affect the workforce?

Granted, they could've probably had them work on OTHER games... But I think the industry, as a whole, needs to scale things back a bit.

Still, his remarks made him seem less arrogant than before. I like that, but I still don't care about anything Activision releases (and funny, now I actually have interest in EA's games... when I used to have zero love for them).

I don't know about Kotick anymore. Sometimes he comes off as a douche, but sadly he's just doing his job: keeping Activision stockholders happy.

Sure, EA may be less evil, but they're drowning in red ink over there. Activision isn't.

So basically the shareholders get the final say on everything, and the customers, who Activision is SUPPOSED to be servicing, get nothing. That's bullshit, and completely contrary to the purpose of a free market economy. It's gotten to the point in this country where you have to crash an airplane into the side of a building to get the attention of whoever is inside.

What's sad is if you read the full speech he said he bought his shares in activision because he feared it was losing its soul.

If that's not irony I don't know what is.

"he didn't look in Harmonix's direction, which he felt was 'somewhat a failed developer of music games.'"

Whereas Red Octane was a failed game rental service, court-affirmed knock-off developer, and a spotty peripheral maker (they made more than dance mats folks, and the vast majority of them sucked balls).

They didn't want a developer, they just wanted the GH brand.

I find it hilarious that he thought that Harmonix was a failed developer AFTER Guitar Hero 1&2. I mean, did he think RO did all the work on the game?

That is one 'businessman' I really cannot stand. I love how he laments the choices he didn't make - but oh....now we now just how on the cutting edge dickhead is! And oh...it's okay - you were making a funny, dickhead, when you made those comments that specifically form an outlook of having a devalued perspective of the human. HAHAHAHA, I get it now!

You're more hollow than I originally thought!!! You have have LESS morals than I orginally thought (which isn't saying much at all) and you are even more full of yourself than I thought.

Well, good luck - I hope you get fired, for real....and my boycott of Activision products continues.

and stop eating the developers, it's not in good taste and you look like a cartman wannabe.
