Alan Wake rated Teen, five minutes of footage illuminated

New footage of Remedy's upcoming mystery thriller Alan Wake has found its way online, showcasing some of the demonic thoughts scrawled on paper by the game's title character. Five minutes of footage found at French site GameBlog.fr (posted after the break) showcases some gorgeous environments and some of the action we experienced at Microsoft's X10.

Considering half of the Joystiq staff wasn't even born yet when the game was first announced*, we're just happy to help Alan Wake figure out what's happening in the small mid-western town of Bright Falls.

But we're not expecting a gruesome adventure, as the ESRB has rated Alan Wake T for Teen. We can't blame Alan: when you're fighting for your life you need as many gamers as you can get on your side.

Yea.. I saw that too.. thought 'wtf'.. the chief would have died, Gears would either be knocked down or exploded like a Pinata.. Forza's cars would have rolled..

Actually Heavy Rain recieved a mature rating.

When is this game finally coming out? I lost track about 3 years ago.

I would have preferred M ... because adding an excessive usage of the F word and so forth makes it even more believable (in terms of his reactions to what is happening).

I know if I was in his situation, I'd be saying wtf and holy shit all the time ...

When you put it in a blunt statement like that.... you have a point. I'd still like to think they'd be using their vast vocabulary to spout out a bit more eloquent or quirky means to convey distress.

It's an iconic sound, was just spicing up my post. Old stand-up comics and show hosts use to play them after some lame joke they made as a cue to let the audience know "that was the joke, time to laugh."

Have you seen Heavy Rain? There's literally a 3 minute long shower scene for absolutely no reason. If that doesn't count as "gratuitous" I don't know what does.

Showers are gratuitous? It was showing the day to day activities of a person. It was done in the context of what the game was portraying. Being naked in a show is not gratuitous, you need to be naked in a shower.

I'm not saying it's bad. You claimed it was a truly "mature" game, and I'm saying it has lots of immature content in it. You seem to have completely lost track of what you were arguing to begin with, and can't understand where I'm coming from.

Yes, if the shower scene was quick and there was a flash of tits or something, ok, I'll go with that. Three minutes of close-ups, that's just juvenile.

I'm still looking forward to the game, but you have to admit it's not entirely "mature".

Looking really good. Can't wait. I think the graphics and lighting look great, I don't see what people are really complaining about.

They've done a mighty fine job, I wasn't too interested back at E3 09, but bit by bit I've come around to it, its defo shaping up to be what I hope will be a great experience. Lets just hope it stays that way.

The more I see of this game the more I like it. It seems like exactly what the Action/Horror genre needs right now.

Basically there's a difference betweens something containing "mature" content, and actually being aimed at a mature adult.

Nice to see we get another game that trumps UC2 graphics. I love the direction.

no, no, no...i play games w/o blood and gore...but, it's like watching a pg-13 slasher flick (think Prom Date)...i just get amped up for a bloody scene cuz the guy is swinging an axe and don't get anything...like i said, i'm expecting the game to actually BE good...but, i hate to get amped up just to be let down...it would appeal to me more if the creature used it's "powers" or whatev to kill someone, that way the blood wouldn't necessarily be expected---by me, anyway...

like i said, the game looks like it'll be good, and i DO play games w/o a mature rating...

"Hello? Is anyone there? Come upstairs, I have a surprise for you! Hellooo? Anyone there?" and the water tower scene are awkward but other than that it looks absolutely amazing.

I know the "reporter" is based out of Toronto, but I am almost certain the game takes place in the Pac NW, not Midwest.

Alone in the Dark done right?

OMG!!!! Can't wait for this game.
