Got yourself a copy of Darksiders but, for whatever reason (admit it, you lost it), don't have the slip of paper it came with containing the "mystery code" redeemable for a free copy of Red Faction Guerrilla and digital art book? Seems you're not out of luck -- unless you bought it second-hand (or "pre-played," if you will).
Vigil has announced via its official Darksiders blog that those without codes, but who purchased the game new can still get the free RFG and disc full o' artwork. It's a little more work than simply clicking a link and typing in a code, but, hey, free is free. Those who want in on the promotion must fill out a form, provide "your original purchase receipt of a NEW copy of Darksiders," the barcode from the cover insert and, like everything else, pay shipping and "handling" (we never quite got what that is, exactly).
You have until March 7 to get in on the promotion, whatever your situation may be.
[Thanks, NBA Kirkland]

That explains why my game smells of contemptuously-rubbed balls.

Ya know, I was considering this. But I wanted to find out what kind of deal I would be getting. Looked into it, and RFG is only 20 bucks now! So basically you have the option to save 15 bucks with the purchase of a $40 game(Amazon FTW). A $40 game that will probably drop to the bargain bin very soon.
So... tempting deal, but nah. Will pick up these two later but at the moment I dont feel like the hassle of filling out this form and everything is worth it.

Because if I lost the code, I probably still have the receipt.

"...the barcode from the cover insert..."
Do we get a new cover insert too, so we can replace the one we have to cut up?

Or... is the "it" you are referring to Darksiders? Since I thought that was still going for much more than 30$ used.

I got it new last week at Gamestop.com for $37.XX after tax. The only receipt I can use the email order confirmation. It doesn't say new or used just Darksiders and the price. Do you guys think they'll shaft me because of the receipt?

'anyone' as long as they only live in the united states. What a crock of shit.

Sick of hearing this. There is obviously more to it than just simply cutting off anyone that does not live in the states. There are legal issues, import taxes, custom taxes, separation of geographical sales zones, and many other factors.
You are reading about an offer that is only good for the US and are bitching about it? How many countless things are only available for Japan, or other territories? How many contests/offers/giveaways does your country offer other countries eligibility?

I hate the fact that I get shafted living in Canada, but free health care and people that are polite is a fair trade for not getting a $20 game for free.

The title "Darksiders" still reminds me of that "God's Warrior" Trading Spouses episode(s).

Shipping is the truck, the gas, the insurance, the planes, the trains and so forth.
Handling is the person putting it in the box, packing it, and handing it to the guy in the truck who takes it to a plane/train who get it to the hub where it gets put back on the truck and shipped again.

Still trying to figure out if i should use my $10 amazon game credit for this, thereby getting Darksiders and RF:G for 30 dollars. I would also get a $10 credit to a preorder copy of Metro 2033, which i would then feel obligated to use. Total cost: $77 for 3 retail games
Another option: getting 10 off of shadow complex. Total cost: $5 for 1 arcade game
Oh, I also have yet to finish Mass Effect 2, or start Left 4 Dead 2 or Assassin's Creed 2.
Help me, readers of Joystiq!

At gamestop you can pick up Darksiders used for $33 and Red Faction for either $18 used or new for $20... so this wouldn't be the best deal. It would better support the developers and THQ by buying new though.

RF:G is a must play game if you like mindless destruction
Darksiders is a must play game if you just CAN'T STAND waiting for more zelda
Shadow Complex is a must play game. Period.
Metro 2033 is an unknown right now, we don't know if it will be completely broken or the next messiah
Wait to start AC2 until there's a big gap in gameplay because you really want to sit back and enjoy that one without thinking about all the other games on your plate.
Skip L4D2, it sounds like you have too much already ;)

I'm of the opinion that you play through the AAA and AA games you have now and just pick up these (or even better) games later when they're significantly cheaper (both new and used). Red Faction is destined for bargain bin status in the coming months or Newegg's under-$15 bin and Darksiders isn't too far behind.
ME2, AC2, and L4D2 (so many sequels!!) should keep you busy for a while...

A great game regardless of it's price! Was overlooked for coming out so early in 2009. One of the most technically impressive games last year and probably my favorite multiplayer shooter of last year. I didn't play it as much as other, but that was due to the lack of personal friends who would buy the damn game.
Red Faction: Guerrilla is $12.34 used at Gamefly with free shipping and no handling (lol@above post). It comes with the original box and manual untouched too so basically it's new.

All ya need is your receipt dude. If you paid with credit you can go back to the store and have them print you out a new one from the system (they won't want to and say they can't but they can and have to if you ask).
