Nintendo has filed for a trademark on the phrase "Eternal Darkness," the title of the GameCube's Silicon Knights-developed psychological horror game. It tricked us by doing things like pretending to reset the console or lowering a fake volume indicator on the TV screen, due to a low in-game "sanity" meter. Apparently the trademark lapsed recently, and while we'd love to tell you that this means someone is working on a brand new version of Eternal Darkness for the Wii, it likely just means that Nintendo is covering its trademarked bases.
Besides, if you just want a Wii game that will drive you nuts, try some SPOGS Racing. That game is so bad it's crazy.

I always thought the fake Blue Screen of Death was pretty cruel. In a hilarious sort of way.

I would love a "wii-do" of this title, the original had such a great story, but the controls were horrible...

Oh man, what a great game. I remember walking into a room and being on the ceiling and walking backwards....then my head asploded.
What a great game - hopefully there si something more going on here than just a trademark base covered or a NPC title.

Something that controls and looks like the new Silent Hill game with Eternal darkness gameplay would be really nice.

I loved that game, I wish it would be redone so I could enjoy it again.

I remember during one frenzied gaming session, saving my file, it actually showed, ERASING SAVED GAMES. ALL SAVED GAMES ERASED. My mind raced, I began thinking, it's a SD card in the memory module, I can probably unerase them from my PC somehow. I began to sweat, then the game said "PSYCH!"
The doorbell trick got me once to, because it sounded just like mine.

Maybe they just wanted to avoid the terribly irony that would come from a temporary Eternal Darkness trademark

My biggest regret was getting rid of this game when I traded in all my GameCube stuff. I agree with others, this is one Wii-make I would happily purchase.

I just picked this game up at my local CD Warehouse for a song, can't wait to get home from work to play it! How will it hold up today if I have never played it?

I would really love a Wiimake as well. I hope they can find the FMV's that weren't compressed because it looked pretty bad.
Fix up the controls, add some more wii insanity stuff like wiimote battery being dead but not really, or going back to home menu, stuff like that will be tons of fun to mix in.

I just hope this won't be a "new play control" like Mario Tennis but will be a real new game.
Even if it will be the same game with Wii controls... I'll buy it anyway!
