Imagine you told us that Dr. Chad Ocho Cinco (Hon.) and Olivia Munn intended to throw a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 party and invite all their pseudo-celebrity pals to play for charity. If you asked us to dream up a guest list, we doubt we would be physically capable of coming up with a more ill-suited and uninspiring crew than the one that will actually be in Hollywood tonight for the Battlefield Celebrity Bracket Challenge.
We understand Hal Sparks and Perez Hilton are there, that's just the law, but the rest of the NFL players and 90210 and CSI:NY stars that fill out the list so strain and pervert the word "celebrity" that it can now be accurately applied to karaoke DJs and birthday party illusionists. The sole exception here is Heroes star Greg Grunberg, who's a totally decent guy that just seems to have fallen in with the wrong crowd. Bad company indeed, Greg. Bad company indeed.

I would love to see one, just ONE seasoned (mature) console player added to that list, and hilarity doth ensue.
Of course, I am unfairly assuming that all the names on the list are not seasoned console shooter players. That is why hilarity would then ensue. Semi-celeb rage? Priceless.

Although he may not be a pro, Ocho Cinco not only plays Xbox Live a LOT, but he invites fans to play with him through Twitter almost every time.

Greg Grunberg killed as the voice of Ethan Thomas (whose name was so generically forgettable that I had to look it up) in the first Condemned. So disappointing that they didn't bring him back for the sequel.
Also, obligatory: Yum Olivia Munn blah blah, since that's pretty much going to be the rest of this comment section

Also, if this goes anything like my experiences playing online in MW2, how long until the gay/racial slurs start rolling out over the headsets?
I'm smelling another Perez Hilton incident is a brewing...

I never thought of that but that's probably why he signed up in the first place. He's like the #2 attention whore on the internet behind Tila Tequila.

If you think Ocho Cinco is a semi-celebrity you've clearly never seen the glory that is his Twitter account. The guy will tell people where he is and offer the first 100 people to show up some kind of shopping spree. The man commands mobs at will!

His Twitter is priceless. He's not a semi-celebrity at all. He's one of the most marketable and high-paid players in the NFL, plus he's a beast. I think it's pretty cool that he makes his fans a part of his life by taking them to dinner and whatnot, even if he does play for the Bengals *blegh*.

I guess the event planner could up the cool quotient by inviting video game bloggers?

I guarentee G4 has a hand in this, cuz if they didn't Olivia wouldn't be involved.
And cmon Joystiq, we all know G4 is the new MTV, tons of hipster BS and no actual gaming.

If you think Ocho Cinco and DeSean Jackson are "semi-celebrities", you need to get out of your internet bubble.

So does nobody here actually watch football? Those players are all big names. Desean Jackson is a 1000 yard receiever from this season and had some of the most explosive plays. Faulk is a future hall of famer. Pat Willis was ROY. AND what about the gorgeous Stacy Kiebler.

Ok, I love gaming, but seriously - you think the dude from Heroes is
more of a celebrity than MARSHALL FAULK? Or Chad Ochocinco?
DeSean Jackson? Hell, even Matt Cassel is more of a celebrity than
the Heroes guy. At least, outside of geekdom.

I thought he was going to change his name back to Chad Johnson after being completely shut down by Darelle Revis?
And I gained so much respect for Chad Johnson at last year's (or was it the year before?) Pro Bowl. He destroyed that catching gauntlet thing by not dropping a pass. It was one of the most amazing feats of skill I've ever seen.
