We've been hearing about Steve Harris's digital version of the soon-to-be relaunched EGM for quite some time now, and we're just one month away from the magazine's return to newsstands. However, if you're trying to get an early peek at what Harris has in store for EGMi: The Digital Magazine (that he's said will be released supplementally between print issues), now's your chance. But what's this? The mysterious unreleased "last issue"of EGM? It is!
As Harris puts it, "The links on this cover page aren't live yet - but they will be long before Summer arrives." Okay, okay, it might've taken a year for the issue to become available -- and yes, it might be full of content on games that have been out for quite some time now -- but hey, it's a chance to explore "layers and depth that you control." Doesn't that seem enticing? Well, we're not really sure quite yet, as the Screen Paper-based issue has yet to incorporate the promises we've been hearing since last September. With grand plans for the release of a digital magazine every week once the print mag relaunches, we'll certainly see how this shakes out soon enough.

Will I start getting EGM again or would I have to resubscribe because I hate Maxim?

Funny coming from a guy posting comments on a video game blog with an avatar of one of the nerdiest characters on an action adventure cartoon.

What kind of monster have I become, when it takes Rambo for me to be reasoned with?

Since this isn't Ziff-Davis anymore, were out of luck.
Hey it could be worse. I'm stuck with Maxim until 2020.

Man I remember I used to be subscribed to EGM. It felt like the most legit magazine out there.

But I think I'll stick with GameInformer and Playstation: The Official Magazine.

I was going to subscribe, but the price for a Canadian one is way too expensive.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but this digital thing seems way too flashy to be of any value. I don't want some "MAGAZINE ADVANCED!" experience with something at my PC. I just want articles, and I want to be able to easily read them.

Wait, why did this get downvoted?

I don't care that this information is over a year old. I want my 'final' EGM. I refuse to accept that the Wolverine cover was the last issue. I imagine the 2008 game of the year award stuff is probably all available at 1up already, and has been since oh... January '09.

Good luck with getting flash on your iPad. Sadly unless they have an alt version you won't be able to see the digital mag at all.

I can't remember the last time I read/subscribe to a magazine. I mean, why? Why do I want to pay for old news? Sure, it may have prettier pictures, but it's old news, and you recycle/throw it away in the end. A fancier version on an expensive device won't attract me either. I mean subscribing to joystig's RSS feed is good enough for me.

The mockup of EGMi is done in Flash 10. iPad and iPhone do not support Flash so maybe Steve's tech people need to explain it to him before launches in a few weeks. Also, the net gives me my FREE news by the hour through Joystiq and my FREE HD video at GameTrailers. Why do I need a weekly EGMi that cost me $25 a year?
