Its nice to see a new IP get all this new dlc and support. Although I can't say that I am fan of borderlands, it is encouraging to see new and original ideas being so well received.

That's the same way I feel about it. I'm really glad that people like it, I just wasn't really one of them. I tried, but only got up to like level 21 before I got bored of it and sold it. I think if it hadn't come out so close to Dragon Age I probably would have played it for a lot longer. Maybe I'll pick up a GOTY version if it comes out next year or something.

I liked Boarderlands. BUT. I wish they would have enemies like the one in the above pic, instead of recycling the same ones over and over, ad nauseum. In fact, most of the DLC is stuff they could have added instead of all the filler crap in the disc game. It feels like I have to pay even more money to get a truely complete game.

Gonna buy it.

Great vid, thanks for the link.

Borderlands is a great game for the sum of its parts. Not one component particularly excels, but they are all really good making the overall game excellent.

The DLC are "ok" but enjoyable in their own rights. Jakobs Cove added a side area to explore and level up in, Moxxie's added the arena battles a lot of games have now (though it was a little limited in scope/enemies), and now we get a true story expansion...personally I think it's great that they are providing so much addiitonal content; and content that players are asking for too, without just throwing crap out there like other developers.

Sure the number of weapons is excessive, and quite useless to be honest as you really only use a limited selection, but half the fun (and frustration) is trying to find that really rare or an even better version of a particularly useful gun.

i havent bought any of the dlc for this game yet, the main story was disappointing to me.

and beyong that, 30 dollars for 3 DLC is a little too rich for my blood. For that about i can get call of pripyat and still have 10 left over.

not saying it is bad, but the cost for a couple hours isn't justified to me.

Zombie Island: give it a few nights.
Mad Moxxie: you will NEVER finish Mad Moxxi and its ghost will haunt you at night to tell you it's disappointed in you and you will tell it to shut up and it will flick you on the ear.

zombie island... around 8 hours or so. moxi... well... I finished it. some solo some with other people. If you have crazy ass guns that deal ton of damage it will take roughly 15 hours or so. I have guns that deal like 10,000 damage points and never need to be reloaded so I can one shot kill almost everything or ust keep spraying even at level 50.

Moxi is 3 smaller tournaments and 3 very large very long ones. The 3 larger tournaments are 20 rounds with 5 waves per round so 100 waves so it takes around 3 - 6 hour each and you need to do them in one shot each. There is no picking up where you left off or restarting. Make sure you have time. They get a little grindy but I enjoyed them.

Like I said, if you have crazy awesome guns, its easy to do solo. If you have not so good guns you will never do it alone and even with 3 other people it will take a long time and be very *VERY* hard.

Borderlands is a damn fine game for couch-op!

Considering getting both expansions soon. Can you get a lvl 37 character up to lvl 50 just by playing the expansions packs?

It's funny because I thought that was the weakest element. I just couldn't get used to the limited field of view that the split-screen yielded.

Well, none of the enemies you kill in Mad Moxxi earn you xp. But that DLC was super lame unless you have a solid 4 player team who have serious time to kill. Solo it's impossible and 2 player its hairy but manageable, but only for the first short (1-2hr) arenas. Apparently the final arenas take 4 hours minimum to beat. I gave up at that point since I don't have a lot of friends on Borderlands. Disappointing because up til then I had 100% achievements.

Long story short: Get Zombie Island. Don't get Mad Moxxi. I think you'll get much closer but not all the way to 50. This new DLC looks worthy.

@baby sea tuna Seriously? What other options are there for couch co-op fps games? Honestly, I'm happy whenever any game includes couch co-op. I wish more would include a 4-way split screen too. Yeah its limited field of view, but when I have friends over limited screen space is welcome to the alternative of having to take turns on a 2-player or just say screw it I guess we're playing Halo again.

Alright I think I will get only the Zombie island DLC then, and do a 2nd playthrough to get the rest of the trophies trophies. Thanks!

@baby sea tuna
Actually this one of the games where the splitscreen works just fine. The graphics are quite simplistic anyway and the fun of playing with a friend more than makes up for the loss of vision. :)

You can never have enough guns in this game.

I always carry at least 2 variants of each element type.

Completely off topic question: If I buy a HDMI cable from the home theater dept. of a store for my PS3, would it be the exact same as buying a HDMI cable from the video game dept. of the same store, or are there compatibility issues I need to research? Thanks in advance.

HDMI is HDMI. Get the cheapest one you can find. Unless you plan on
running it over insane distances, brand X is just as good as Monster.

On topic - These guys are making this DLC appeal directly to my geek heart. Mechs and light sabers? Sold!

As far as I know, a cable is a cable is a cable.

If its got the connectors you need, theres no difference between them.

(Ive been using a 10ft PS3 Controller cable for 1 year now for syncing my phone at work, cost half the price for half the length of a 'certified' cable)

If you pay more than $5 for your HDMI cable, you're doing it wrong.

I enjoyed Zombie Island but do not think I will get Madd Moxi due to the fact I do not know any friends who play the game. I would hope with this DLC that it is reasonably priced, however considering that they are adding in a 61 lvl cap. I am willing to bet they will make this $10.

I always try make careful choices on buying DLC if I am getting bang for my buck, this seems like the case, but with Splinter Cell, FFXIII, Alan Wake, GOW 3 coming out next to each other. I would have to hold off for awhile..

As for a HDMI cable, don't belive the guys at the store, HDMI cables have a huge markup and they know it. Like what was said above, a cable is a cable. Go to monoprice.com or even amazon and get yourself a cable for a 6ft HDMI cable for around $5 or less.

Oh man, this is DLC the way it should be done, not BS unlocks of weapons or multiplayer modes that were already on the disk, or pricey content that really just finishes a half-made game. But an actual, honest to goodness, expansion for a complete product. I love Gearbox

How about a patch to improve performance on PS3 before selling us more crap? It slows down really frequently and sometimes it's extremely bad.

I finally "beat" this game last night. Modern warfare was new and shiny and initially made Borderlands seem boring and hard to go back to, but I finally just realized that it's (MW2) been stressing me out, so luckily I had something more chill to go back to.

Last night, I played w/ a friend and the quality of co-op, while well done, seems to really depend on who you're playing with (duh.) My friend was slightly more levelled up and kept killing everything before I had a chance. I even asked him not to, and it was like he couldn't help himself.

When playing multiplayer, must all four characters be represented? Or can you play with multiple Mordecais, for example?

you can have any combo of characters. one time i was in a game with 3 other mordecais (i'm mordecai too). it was... trippy. we all grouped together at one point and just stayed there jumping for about 5 minutes. soooo weird.
