There's a neat throwback to the first time Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield went stomping around a creepy old mansion in "Lost in Nightmares," the new DLC episode for Resident Evil 5. By going to the front door of the mansion and attempting to open it a few times (remember what happened the first time you tried that?), you'll eventually get a "?" message and the camera will shift to Resident Evil's classic, isolated point of view.
More than anything, the Easter egg is a nostalgic reminder of the olden days of survival horror, before Chris Redfield had to juice up just to get out of bed in the morning.

Lost in Nightmares is the real deal man. It’s classic RE with the best graphics available (RE5 engine), limited ammo, scarce enemies, more puzzles, and ALL atmosphere. The environments are amazing. There’s also an easter egg where you can switch the camera to ‘classic’ RE camera style.
Yes, it is short, but the quality of whats there and with the price point at $5, I felt I got my money’s worth and then some. Almost felt like a lenghty concept demo.
If nothing else, this serves as a tremendous testimony to how badass RE6 can be if they take the game back to its roots as this DLC content did.
It’s almost as if Capcom heard all the negative responses to RE5 and said “give the people a taste of what they want”. Awesome. BETTER than I expected.
9/10. IMO – the ONLY thing they need to fix in this is the transitions between doorways (needs to be smoother), and allow us to switch camera options on the fly.
Way to redeem yourselves Capcom. Please make RE6 more like LIN and less like RE5..

To this day I remember how much I hated going outside of that mansion... dogs pouncing on you before you can get the shotgun level. Would rather take a hunter popping around a corner any day.

I remember a hunter flying around a corner in RE1.. Where the Jill 'sandwich' part is! Scared the living crap out of me. They need Resident Evil scary again and with proper zombies :)

yea right. i was crusing thru the game no sweat. when i got to the part where the hunters came in, it took me months to beat the rest of the game. those things would spring out of nowhere and take my head off even though i was in good condition :(
it didnt help that at the meeting of the 1st hunter, i had 1 ink ribbon, so i had to play long stretches cleanly (retrying many times) until i had a comfy cushion of ribbons again.
dam that snake...

So does this DLC make going out and actually buying RE5 worth it, if I can pick it up for about $20 bucks or so? I REALLY didn't like RE5. The demo sucked, I rented it and it sucked.
I take that it's still forced co-op, but if it's more of the classic RE, I could see myself enjoying it slightly more.

This DLC is better than the whole main storyline. This DLC made me scream curse words at the top of my lungs on more than one occasion. Bravo capcom, I didnt think you still had it in you to make Resident Evil scary.

in the GCN remake the dog actually jumps in when you open the door... totally wasn't expecting it and that's where I stopped.
ended up watching my friend play through the entire game in college.

Just played the DLC, the mansion looks as scary as it was in the old RE days. Now if they made this x10 bigger with hunters, zombies and dogs and all the other nasties the next game will be great! Forget the 'Las Plagas' rubbish, bring back what made the RE series! oh, bring back Barry too! Loved his one-liners, hehe

Yeah, this DLC is only about an hour & a half tops, so I can't oversell it, but LiN is essentially how Resident Evil 6 should be. I was scared more in the short time that I played this than the entire 40+ hours I put into RE5 (for the platinum).

I stopped playing Resident Evil after Code Veronica..
Gimmie the mansion or Raccoon city any day.. I would love to see a re-launch of the first three games... sorta like Tomb Raider Anniversary.. Especially with the size of a blu ray - they can find a way to merge the first three games into one - with better graphics, new puzzles... but keep the same music.. cuz that piano music was creepy. :-D
I'd buy that.

The mansion part was dull without any enemies... The new enemy below the mansion was pretty scary and cool but still... woulda been nice to throw a few enemies upstairs...

I loved the Mansion part, the atmosphere really sold it to me.
I don't think adding enemies in the Mansion would have made it any better.

Play it again. You'll (maybe) be pleasantly surprised. Unlike the main campaign, LiN doesn't appear to go by a single script. On the same difficulty level, a lot of stuff happened the second time around that didn't on my first play-through.

Maybe im not a real Resident evil fan, but i really enjoyed RE5, now that i have opportunity to play RE4 i find it lack of polish compared RE5, maybe i prefer the action oriented RE and not the crappy gameplay one of the previous version.now i really hope that the next version of RE can give us a move and shoot gameplay plus the whole "Survival horror" thing that people liked from previous series.
LIN its really short my friend bought it and he beat it in less than 15 minutes not really that worth the 5 dollars that capcom ask. i really hope that desesperate escape its longer. I will wait for the gold edition that includes all the dlc.
