I know it might SEEM like a good idea to movie makers to make another MK film, but hopefully if they wait five minutes...it will go away. MK one was decent but MK2 was so horrible I hope this franchise filmdom remains burried. Does anyone remember the TV series? Yes...it existed.

Whatever Joystiq I know I'm in the minority but I like Armageddon. The only thing I really didn't like about it was NOTRaden stinking up the screen.

However I loved Shao Khan and all the other characters they introduced.

I'm quietly hoping for a 3rd one. So long as it doesn't end up like Street Fighter Legend of Chun Li.

Thank god!! Leave my childhood alone for goodness sakes!! We didn't even need a first Mortal Kombat film. And besides who would go see this? Mortal Kombat isn't even a relevant franchise anymore.

Warner Bros, I'm going to give you a tip.

Give up.

Instead, concentrate on that Christopher Nolan Superman reboot.

Forget Threshold. The first two MK films were only good on that cheesy B-rated movie level like the Street Fighter movie. I want a good MK film. Not another waste of money.

The first Mortal Kombat movie was pretty good. Not amazing, but an enjoyable enough movie with some cool fight scenes. It's the second that decended into horrible B-movie level.. but I actually found it to be so bad, it's funny. Some of the scenes and dialogue are absolutely hilarious.

The TV series, Mortal Kombat Conquest was actually surprisingly good too. You can probably see the whole thing on YouTube, and I'd say it's worth watching.

I liked the first film - it was a fun flick.

The sequel somehow seemed like it had less budget then the first - as everything seemed way cheesier.

Should be focusing on reviving the game, before they worry about trying to branch out with a movie that was bound to fail anyway.

So Threshold has done nothing with the um "rights" to Mortal Kombat till they hear rumors of Warner Brothers wanting to rehash it for a 3rd film. Threshold should be lucky their company wasnt destroyed when the last MK movie bombed hardcore by fans. They should just ask for a small pitance and be happy that they may get some royalites from people rebuying the old movies after this one is released.

Besides dont rights like that last only for a certain amount of time?

The FIRST MK movie is the golden chalice of video game based movies. Seriously, it's not an amazing movie but for being based on a fighting game it's pretty darn good. There has yet to be a video game based movie to top it. I also think it had one of the best sound tracks of the 90's.

That being said, the second one was complete and utter garbage. I was 13 at the time and saw the movie for free (my dad's company paid for their workers and family to go out on a pick your movie day) and I wanted to walk out then...if I couldn't find enjoyment out of it at 13 I'm not sure how anyone could.

Still, part of me is an inner MK geek...I mean, the only MK game I haven't bought is MK vs DC (which is weird, since I'm also a DC Comics fanboy) so I'm secretly hoping that a 3rd one does get off the ground along with a great cast and a great director.

Jason Statham as Grand Master Sub-Zero please.

One of those weird movie experiences.... guys really wanted to watch it, but ended up hating it (because it sucked); girls didn't want to see it at all, but ended up liking it (because of the large number of buffed-up shirtless dudes.)

But everyone agreed one one thing: the Mortal Kombat techno theme song rules.....

boom boom boom boom M O R T A L K O M B A T !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a rampant risktaker when it comes to movies and money that aren't my own, so I really want this legal deal to end wall for WB.

Now, I'm probably a glutton for punishment/hopelessly naive when it comes to VG adaptations, but I really want to see if WB can get a halfway decent film going. If anyone can finally break this terrible streak of bad VG adaptations, it's them.

The first one actually had some solid fight scenes, especially considering it was 1995. A little overboard on the cheesy one-liners, but still good. However the second one was reminiscent of a Bad Power Rangers episode, if that, in itself, isn't totally redundant.

Let's just skip a third one all together... It's time for a Johnny Quest movie with real people!

you people suck!!

Mortal Kombat has been the shizz since the first game dropped on Sega Genesis.
when i was 6 or 7 i saw the first movie in theatres and absolutely LOVED it..

the second movie didnt quite top the first but the fight scenes were more intense and it introduced more of the popular characters and even some of the "no so well known" characters.. such as Sheeva, Ermac, Jax, Kitana's clone Mileena, Sub Zero's younger brother, n00b saibot... Kabal and Striker were mention but not shown (disappointing).. but the point im trying to make is the Mortal Kombat films are for those who appreciate Mortal Kombat and the entire story line.. i have purchased and beaten EVERY SINGLE MK game ever made! i have seen the movies, the series and even studied the characters backgrounds and roles through out the entire story line.. MK is a greater franchise than Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Matrix and even Twilight IMO but these movies have seemed to go further.. u wanna kno why? i'll tell u.. HYPE!! these movies have had great success because the producers spent mega bucks advertising long before the drop, then u pecker heads see it and think "OMG that looks sooo cool".. but the cold hard truth is the story lines suck, really, i have seen them all and its complete crap! there is a deep story to MK that most of u have never heard of and u wont appreciate the films until u understand the concept...

I say bring on the 3rd movie, not everyone will love it but i guarantee you i will not only see it in theatres but i will also buy it on DVD when it is released, i am far from the only Kombat freak in this world and i sure as hell wont be the only person watching it.. just cast some more reputable actors and raise the budget and i bet the 3rd film will go far, "The sky is the limit!" keep that in mind...

and to u haters that say MK is a waste of time and money, i have three words for you "WATCH SOMETHING ELSE"

there is my two cents, make of it what u will..
