This is pretty much just about the worst kind of DLC I can imagine.

The only thing that could possibly make it worse is to find out it's already on the disc.

But won't extra ranks and upgrades give an unfair advantage to those who purchase the DLC? Not that BioShock 2's multiplayer is all that competitive or anything.

yea, this is a really shitty DLC, paid multiplayer packs should never be anything except more maps.

This one being released should just be a free update, especially since everything they are adding is a simple switch basically.

Just what I wanted to do - have to pay MORE money to advance more levels in a game that I've already paid for. It's not enough that the majority (if not all) of the things listed should've just come as an update seeing as most of them are an additive on to a system that's already in place.

You know, I might have been able to look over this had it been more maps, or if the multiplayer had been actually patched first regarding balance and technical issues (mainly involving game crashes.) But seeing as I now see that their main focus is on attaining more money rather than increasing the quality of play - I see where their loyalties lie, and they can ogle upon my gracious "under the butt nut hut" if they think I'm willing to pay for this shenanigan of an excuse of downloadable content.

This is already on the disk, it's not DLC at all. Only thing being downloaded here is a key to unlock the features already on the game disk...

Does anyone else here have it on PC? Every time I've tried to play the Multiplayer, I get atrocious lag making it totally either unplayable or just unenjoyable. I don't know if I've just had bad luck or if the PC version isn't that stable.

Also a side note, the mouse sensitivity for this game, especially in multiplayer it seems, is WAAY to high. I have it set on 1 and turn my mouse's dpi down just to get it to a manageable speed.

That's actually a common problem, one they've yet to fix. That and the crashing. 2K games couldn't care less about PC gaming.

Most games I've played have been lag free on the PC. But it seems that if one guy lags, it affects everybody.

weird to get down voted for answering a question honestly.

i've played a few games online, never experienced any noticeable lag.

I got this recommendation for the lag off Steam's forums. Alt+Tab to the desktop and then back into the game. Sounds dumb, but it actually clears up the lag.

I also read that mouse sensitivity is messed up in the game. It is recommended that you adjust mouse sensitivity from within the Windows Control Panel for the mouse.

I have my sensivity set to 2 in Bioshock 2 and it seems good to me.

the sensitivity was indeed a pain in the ass to get working.

I had to set the sensitivity to 2, because if it was set to one, it would move around like it was skipping, it didn't move at all unless my mouse moved a certain distance, terrible, and if it was set to 3, it would be impossible to aim properly.

Then after setting it to 2, i had to set my g5 to the lowest possible sensitivity, then it was enjoyable.

Wait, what? I was expecting new plasmids, characters (well there is some in this), and maps, but most of those features seems like more of a patch job for how the multi will now work, like leveling up to 50 and trials.

if all the things i've heard about the multiplayer are true (massive host advantage, laggy), then this is about the worst DLC they could decide to release.

I don't really care about the MP extras, but I'd love a single player DLC that actually wrapped up the MASSIVE HOLE IN THE STORY.

...where the hell did Tenenbaum go?

I was replaying the SP yesterday to attempt to get my missing trophies, and I noticed that Tenenbaum says, "sorry buddy. I can't stick around to help you, but this gentleman Sinclair, he will aid you in finding Eleanor. I must run off and help others in Rapture right now."

Her fate remains unclear, as it's not like you as the Big Daddy ever radioed her back some grunts stating that Rapture was in immediate danger of sinking into the Atlantic.

Hopefully, what happens to her will be part of BS2 SP DLC instead of BS3. I can't even imagine what story they'd come up with for BS3 at this point.

That was a pretty gigantic hole they left. Besides whether she is aided by others, directs you to Sinclair and then vanishes - she begins as a pivotal character again to suddenly vanish. It was odd and kind of left me still feeling like things were yet to be completed.

"those freezing issues"

are you serious, joystiq? at least the game runs on the consoles unlike the PC version, which crashes your entire system after 10min.

I'm on the 64 bit Win7 and it crashes out once an hour. I recommend regularly saving for now.

It's sad considering I went through two Mass Effect 2 playthroughs without even a hiccup.

Vista 32 here, the game would freeze for me right after the opening intro. I messed around with some graphic settings and found I was able to actually play for a good 10 minutes after I turned off high detail shaders... but it did crash eventually.

So I tried playing in DirectX 9 and so far, so good. Try going to games, find Bioshock 2, right click and select "Play in DirectX 9" if you're having freezing problems. Or you can add -dx9 at the end of the shortcut's "target" line.

It's not as pretty as playing in DX10 but it's a temporary work around - for me at least. Hope this helps someone.

I would have liked to see some challenge rooms or something, the multiplayer in Bioshock 2 is a bit of a mess, and this just seems to give an advantage to those who have the DLC.

I personally love the multiplayer and have been really excited at the prospect of DLC.

Sure, I guarantee BS2's multiplayer isn't the thing for everyone, but I think it is extremely well put together and not boring and bland (a la MW2). While some moments can be frustrating, I really can't think of anything more fun than a well balanced game of team ADAM grab where every moment is calculated, havoc-y fun.

This is great news. I hit level 40 over the weekend. I will gladly pay $5 for incentive to keep playing the multiplayer. I'm glad i have hardly any lag issues and only had the freeze-up issue a few times. Great game, 2K. Bring on Bioshock 3!

This seems much more like the kind of thing that gets thrown into a title update rather than paid DLC.

I'll probably still end up buying it, though.

I don't see myself playing this game long enough to get to level 40. So, this DLC won't mean much for me.

This game has good multiplayer, but I just don't play multiplayer a ton. I am at like level 12 at least.

From the Take2 website:

"In the coming months, 2K Games will also be publishing downloadable extensions of the single player experience that provide new insight into the world of Rapture. These packages will include more narrative, new tools and new challenges that extend the lore and fiction of the failed Utopia under the sea."

I beat the single-player a couple days ago (went for the jolly-good-happy ending!) and tried to get into a round of multiplayer.

I ended up sitting in a lobby for over 5 min before giving up and playing a quick round of MW2. Are there just not enough people playing this on PS3?

The single-player was awesome btw. I'll be playing through again for sure (there are 4 endings yah?)

Oh yes, less than 2 weeks ago & they already have premium DLC out.
I understand the game goes 'Gold' around a month before it ships, but seriously, talk about raping your customers wallets.
I know the DLC is not required, but DLC this early should be free imo - as a thanks to the fans who bought the game. Turn 10 & Bioware come to mind, now those are some great developers.
