Dear 2009,

If my calculations are correct you will receive this letter immediately after you saw the DeLorean struck by lightning. First, let me assure you that I am alive and well. I've been living happily these past 8 months in the year 1885. The lightning bolt that hit the DeLorean caused a gigawatt overload which scrambled the time circuits, activated the flux capacitor, and sent me back to 1885. The overload shorted out the time circuits and destroyed the flying circuits. Unfortunately, the car will never fly again.

I set myself up as a blacksmith as a front while I attempted to repair the damage to the time circuits. Unfortunately, this proved impossible because suitable replacement parts will not be invented until 1947. However, I've gotten quite adept at shoeing horses and fixing wagons.

I have buried the DeLorean in the abandoned Delgado Mine, adjacent to the Old Boot Hill cemetery, as shown on the enclosed map. Hopefully, it should remain undisturbed and preserved until you uncover it in 1955. Inside you will find repair instructions. My 1955 counterpart should have no problem repairing it so that you can drive it back to the future. Once you have returned to 1985, destroy the time machine.

Do not, I repeat, do not attempt to come back here to get me. I am perfectly happy living in the fresh air and the wide-open spaces, and I fear that unnecessary time travel only risks further disruption of the space-time continuum. And please take care of Einstein for me.

I know that you will give him a good home. Remember to walk him twice a day, and that he only likes canned dog food. These are my wishes; please respect them and follow them. And so Marty, I now say farewell and wish you Godspeed. You've been a good, kind, and loyal friend to me. You've made a real difference in my life. I will always treasure our relationship and think on you with fond memories, warm feelings, and a special place in my heart.

Your friend in time, 2010.

A far cry from most other previews which found the game rarely had downtime from the fast paced and fun action. The videos they saw fit to include show that much as well. Maybe you were a jerk and was therefor punished with a bad section.

Maybe if you had a video to demonstrate how boring it was you would have a better case.

That's absurd. You think they intenionally gave him a bad section because he's a jerk? If so, it would be counter intuitive to the purpose of the event.

Because other people at the same expo liked it means Yoons opinion isn't valid? That's stupid and you know it. It just means he thought it was underwhelming and didn't deliver. You haven't played it yourself so who are you to say he is wrong? Because a few others said so?go stick to those sites if you don't like joystiqs commentary. Simple.

Dur, of course I don't think that's what happened, but it would be a more logical explanation than that opinions can differ so much so that one man's "no downtime in the action" becomes another's "slow and dull crawl through levels", and I didn't want to call him a liar just yet (I did later on, read my later comments). Quality aside of course. I cannot judge that just yet. I'm glad you ignore the other posts of mine which show blatant inaccuracies and absurd complaints (judging level variety from a press demo? really?) on the article's part though, it shows where your priorities are. And what happened to TLDR ;)

It's an opinion though. Thats the difference. It's not a universal metric. People have varying opinions and it's of a subjective nature. There is no lying or deceit, just a differing opinion. Put the torch and pitchfork away already.

Sorry but I'm, just a gamer, and when I like a game, I can still see its flaws, while when I dislike a game, I can still see its merits, if it has any, so I expect the same from supposed professionals in the field. Keep being a JQ fanboy defending them in every mis step though. And again, the same game could never be described "slow and dull" and "nonstop action" just from a difference of opinion. And please respond to my other comments (or GTFO), you just latched on one little snarky comment from all of my posts, exactly because you can't have an actual argument against most of what I've said which is perfectly valid. And hey, if you don't think so, that's your opinion and this is mine, deal with it and move on with your life, since hey, opinions can differ so much as you say.

The thing is, I don't really trust Joystiq's judgments on games at all ever since the whole Left 4 Dead 2 review.

I just assume that whoever is playing is incompetent at games to a certain degree and is "doing it wrong".

Sorry pal but next time put a coherent post together with all of your thoughts instead of spamming the comment section with diatribe after diatribe. If you want me to respond to your points then take the time to be thoughtful about how you express them and don't blurt them out like you have with Tourette's Syndrome.

"And again, the same game could never be described "slow and dull" and "nonstop action" just from a difference of opinion."

It can and it has plenty of times. You need to look no further than the polarity of the Joystiq review and Justin's feelings on Heavy Rain as well as the reception of Killzone 2.

Reading through the tone of your posts and mine I find it funny you are calling me the fanboy. I'm not trying to latch onto one snarky comment, just the entire premise of your argument. I think it's flawed logic and for whatever reason you are taking all of this to heart. Thats obvious by the replies you made to me.

Not surprising considering your previous posting history regarding Nintendo criticism (see the Chinatown wars PSP sales post)

That's an ad hominem if I ever saw one. You've got a few posts here as well, take the time to hit reply on one of my other posts instead of latch onto a single snarky remark (yet you're so fine with JQ's own such remarks).

My CW posts were as valid as my comments here, ie, more so than the JQ article and the defenders' (that's you) crap. And how does that imply fanboyism considering the articles are pretty much 100% unrelated?

This JQ article, as many times before, is full of factual errors that go beyond opinion. I've explained several instances in later comments, so scroll down and hit reply or give up your nonsense personal attacks and your own illogical contradictions.

From TLDR you start responding, from responding you just stick to one little line and then proceed to ad hominem, yet you find it so absurd that I wrote 3 or 4 comments instead of one? Would it really have helped you if the other comments of mine had a different name attached to them and you saw them as a fresh poster instead of me?

You're being as absurd as the author now, and thus, I will not waste more of my time with you. Every rational person here can see the blatant lies of the article in regards to level variety, enemy behaviour, their weak points, player interactions, game pace, and so on and so forth by looking at almost full playthroughs of the press demos (that JQ also apparently played) that the actually respectable outlets made sure to offer.

If you're not one rational person, take it up with your genes, not me.

That's pretty disheartening, I'd say that in 2010 it would be unacceptable to release an FPS on Wii that did not control very well. There's a few good examples of 'how it's done' out there already. I thought the IR controls in the first RS were very twitchy and amoung the most poorly implemented control schemes on a Wii game, IMO. Nothing felt good, except using the analog stick to walk....

Though with personal preferences that vary so much from perosn to person - I'm going to have to wait to see what the overall feedback is.

Also the videos (from the hands-on session, not official trailers, like the excellent 60 fps videos GamerSude uploaded) show plenty of enemies that die from gunfire, and the complain about the samey environments sounds pretty moot given the time you played, considering no such game hops from a desert to a snow level (which I'm sure is absent here, given the setting, buy you know what I mean) every other room. By the way, bid you rate Bioshock as "BORING" because it was all set in Rapture with most areas having a similar art deco style and decoration through out?

Yeah right, Lol.

Gestures are obviously required for special moves and fatalities, but it's clear there's near 1:1 play enabled as well for the majority of the slashing.

Just a forum dweller who's getting increasingly tired of bad games writing. Personally the more I saw of Red Steel 2 the less faith I had in the game, but there's no need for hyperbole and outright lies to criticise something. Though the new videos in the first link I posted did make me somewhat hyped, but that's as of today, and by release day it may well change again.
