As awesome as Uncharted 2 is (and yes, its freakin awesome), I think Demon's Souls was just as good. Last year was a monster year for PS3 exclusives that for sure... 2010 is looking like it'll be no different. Although its lame they didn't get Mass Effect 2, anyone could just get that for PC anyway.

had a similar experience with my dad. he usually sees games as background noise but he watched uncharted like it was an actual movie for a couple of hours.

My cousin was over for the holidays and watched me play it and after about an hour I stopped playing because we had other things to do and he said "Man that's a cool movie" then he paused and looked at me and said "Oh wait I mean game haha". I kid you not.

My girlfriend did the same thing. She watched me play it 3 out of the 4 times I've played through the story and I even watched it while she played through her first time as well.

Best game of 2009 deserves better sales. I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Likely playing Call of Duty or not using their PS3 to play games. Until the Heavy Rain demo came out via the AGR, I hadn't touched my PS3 since I finishing this.

I played (and loved) the original Uncharted but it was definitely not as good as Uncharted 2. Multiplayer aside; the first Uncharted had stiff shooting mechanics, enemies that soaked up bullets, and only a handful of locations. Plus the gameplay in Uncharted 1 was 98% "duck behind this and shoot that".

Uncharted 2 completely fixes every thing that was wrong with the first game.

is it just me or did uncharted 2 seem to slack off and become not as good right about the time when the train crashed and you head in to the mountain .

I think a lot of game developoers front load games now cos most people never get to the end.

Yeah, no kidding! I've been saying that since the hype for 2 started. I LOVED the first, and think it's equal (if not better) than the first. You guys can all call me crazy, but the first had more charm.

I agree that Uncharted 1 was way under hyped. It is clear that Uncharted 2 is way better than the first one, especially the combat system. However, when Drake's Fortune was first released without Among Thieves to compare, it was an out standing game. What's so not perfect about Gears of War kind of game play, Tomb Raider sort of theme and Prince of Persia type of animation? Well It's actually better theme than Tomb Raider and better animation than Price of Persia too, in fact. Until we all play Uncharted 2, then we all realize that they can actually enhance Uncharted 1 combat engine with Metal Gear Solid way of stealth fight, to make one of the best action games ever. (I didn't even mention the online yet)

Seriously, needless to talk about all the goodies that Uncharted Drake's Fortune offer. Heck, only the fact that male PS3 gamers preferred to see Nathan over Lara's boobs and ass tells a lot already!!

bought Uncharted 1 originally and loved it. Uncharted 2 as mentioned fixed everything that was wrong and was bigger and more badass than the first.

Sadly, we both know that will happen about 3 weeks after Uncharted 3 comes out. Naughty Dog will do something that in all actuality is completely inconsequential to the vast majority of players (cut dedicated servers or something, just to take an example off the top of my head) and everyone that never gave a shit in the first place will make it their life's crusade to bitch about it nonstop for the next 6 months.

Sorry all games can't be Halo dude. I would say most would be happy with 3.5 million sold period.

I wasn't trying to imply Uncharted 2's sales were bad. I was just suprised by the "fastest selling first party game" part.

What did you think it was? I would have guessed MGS4, but that's not first party.

I am REALLY hyped for GOWIII, but I dont think it will sell as fast...then again PS3 has a bigger audience now because of Uncharted.

I think Gran Turismo 5 might break the record though, people love long delayed racing sims.

I really hope that Uncharted 2 trounces God of War. Beside the fun story and great gameplay, Nathan Drake is easily the most original hero this console generation. He's not an ex/current military badass, or an almost-deity or a dude with nothing to lose and a scratchy voice. He's just this smart, lucky, pain in the ass. He's like a younger, better-looking John McClane.

Why? Consoles need exclusives, that's the whole reason I bought a PS3.
Not to mention Uncharted is a FIRST PARTY game...in case you didn't read that in the article.

I'm all for more people being able to buy and enjoy games, but even ignoring the fact that U2 is a 1st party game, I think it's better that it was only on one platform. It's an extremely focused, polished work and Naughty Dog isn't that big of a team. Focusing on two platforms would have dilluted the quality of the overall game. Plus, the game has a large number of HD, pre-rendered cutscenes what would have not played well with the 360's 8.5gb of space per disc.

I like exclusives. They're what make me a better person than those savage single-console-owners.
