Update: It seems there's been a mix up somewhere between BioWare and IDW, as a recent tweet from BioWare's account claims that the Dragon Age comic is still scheduled to release in March.
It looks like Dragon Age fans hoping to delve further into its fantasy realm will have to wait a little bit longer. IDW Publishing editor-in-chief Chris Rydall tells Big Download that the planned March release of its Dragon Age comic has been pushed to April. Furthermore, the second issue will release in June.
The comic was announced last year, and is slated to feature a story written by Orson Scott Card. The plot itself focuses around a band of rogue mages that "will defy the rules of the Templars and change the course of the world forever."

that's definitely the comic. I can't put my finger on the name, but I know I've seen that style before. It's not stefano caseli, and it's not paco medina, but i cant figure it out. The style of the comic though is really completely unrepresentative of the game itself. It doesn't look anything like that.

Although considering who's writing it there won't really be any homosexual sex that's for sure.
I love Dragon Age but I don't like Orson Scott Card or his views.
Is it wrong that I want to pass on the comic because of that? I'm not being sarcastic or anything I honestly feel conflicted on whether I should pick it up or not because he's behind it.

No it's not wrong, if you feel strongly enough about it. His views of real-world events conflict with how you feel, and it may be difficult to avoid the sensation that he's sneaking in his own ultra-conservo views into his stories, as good as they may be. You can truly take the best from what he's writing, and separate the person from his work, but it sometimes takes labor, and that's not fun.
I avoid his work for the same reason. I just don't like funding his angles. Much the way some people will never watch a Michael Moore film.

"Laws against homosexual behavior should remain on the books, not to be indiscriminately enforced against anyone who happens to be caught violating them, but to be used when necessary to send a clear message that those who flagrantly violate society's regulation of sexual behavior cannot be permitted to remain as acceptable, equal citizens within that society"

Considering that Orson Scott Card is a founding member of the anti-gay rights organization "Nation On Marrage" and donates money to the organization, money that goes to him will help support the organization... so I see no problems with refraining from buying the comic if you disagree with Orson Scott Card's views.

I am just curious given that in EVERY Bioware game there is an option for homosexual/lesbian relationships if they either knew of Card's politics and support of hate groups or if they had any control over the matter. I still have such a hard time reconciling the inclusiveness of Ender's Game to the hate this man spouts in real life. Every one has a right to believe what they want to believe but some of the groups and beliefs this man has wouldn't have been out of place in the Reichstagg. Kind of ironic that.

Did you just relate Card to the Nazi party because he openly disapproves of homosexuality? That's just all kinds of fallacious.
I may not agree with his views (though I'm a huge fan of his work), but I would think twice before drawing such a comparison.

I'm not a fan of Card's politics but it is a bit unfair to call it hate speech. His religious beliefs are his own. But it is quite bizarre that he would work on a project that has so much sex outside of marriage at its core (be it heterosexual or homosexual). It seems hypocritical since he has stated that we as a society should not encourage such things.

I saw there were only 14 comments, and I thought that maybe, just maybe, there wouldn't yet be the totally predictable "well, Card doesn't love gay people enough, so I'm not going to buy this comic/book/game to show how incredibly tolerant and gay-loving I am."
But alas, it was already made by the 5th comment.
What a bunch of emo wussery.

Someone has views I find childish and offensive so I feel uneasy about supporting their work.
If Hitler's ghost brought out a book I wouldn't buy it because I wouldn't want to support Hitler.
I'm obviously not saying he's Hitler, but what I am saying is his views are hateful and intolerant. That's not someone I want to give money to. It's not like we disagree on music tastes or favourite food.

Ok, let's put this in to perspective. I'm not saying Card is a Nazi, I'm saying his hate speach is SIMILAR to that of Nazis. He belongs to a group called National Organization for Marriage which is considered by many rights groups a Hate group. They want to boycott (but they call it "buycott" very Freedom Fries of them) businesses that support homosexuals in California, they want to start groups to "encourage" correct thought in universities. They espouse criminalization of Homosexual activities and is in fact a front for the Church of Jesus Christ of Laterday Saints (the church passed 2 million towards anti Prop 8 activities through this organization.) Which is sad, I've known good mormons, kind mormons. I don't blame mormons for this, it's a sect within their already heavily politicized and fractured church who espouse hatred.
Now, Card is a board member of this organizatino and let's look at two quotes from Card in his role as board member. The first "many homosexuals first entered into that world through a disturbing seduction or rape or molestation or abuse" was in his role as a board member, the second, espousing the overthrow of the American government should prop 8 fail was a personal one but where do you seperate his hate and revolutionary zeal from the group? He is on the record in the Mormon Times as satating:
How long before married people answer the dictators thus: Regardless of law, marriage has only one definition, and any government that attempts to change it is my mortal enemy. I will act to destroy that government and bring it down, so it can be replaced with a government that will respect and support marriage, and help me raise my children in a society where they will expect to marry in their turn. […] American government cannot fight against marriage and hope to endure. If the Constitution is defined in such a way as to destroy the privileged position of marriage, it is that insane Constitution, not marriage, that will die.
So, he espouses criminalization of homosexuality, he espouses violent overthrow of the government should it accept and recognize equality, and he frankly is full of mindless blind hate. Now, I'm not saying he is a Nazi, he's not. I'm not saying he is like Hitler, he's not. What I am saying he is a part of an organization who's pattern of hate and speach is similar to that of the Nazi party in the 1930s and 40s during their ascent. It's a very slippery slope. I am a firm believer in free speach and as a heterosexual male they are not attacking me BUT I have homosexual friends both gay and lesbian and how can I not speak out when this man and his organization are directly assulting those I care about. As long as their fist stops short of their face I am okay so far but they are enciting violence and hatered, my grand fathers and grand mother did not join the war effort during World War II to fight for this. A world where it was okay to hate.

Are you seriously implying that your grandfather fought in WWII to make sure that homosexuality was considered normal? You might want to ask him about that and see what he says.
By the way, America didn't fight WWII as an anti-hate crusade; it fought it to contain Germany and Japan.

Did I say I was an American? Before you jump to conclusions you may want to actually ask (because I'm not.) Second my one grand father was a composer who had many many homosexual friends in the film and music community. My one grand mother (who was the highest ranking female officer in the Canadian Air Force during the Second World War before retiring from the Air Force after getting married and pregnant with the daughter who she lost soon after her first husband was killed over Germany during a bombing run from which he succesfuly completed and saved the rest of the flight crew at the expense of his own life and that of his copilot) was active in the arts and dance community and had many homosexual friends and my other grand father who was involved in the war as a lieutenant in the Canadian Navy discussed hate and discrimination with me on a regular basis during the era of aphartide and was very clear on his views regarding hate in any form. He moved to the States from Canada and ended up getting his citizenship. He was a republican for many years before quitting the party in disgust over the psudo-religious right's attacks on equality.
Given that I HAVE talked to my grand parents regarding hatred and discrimination I can speak without hesitation on the fact that they very well did go to war to prevent hatred and agression. Whilst they did not fight the fight to prevent discrimination against homosexuality during the war they fought it to prevent hate. Period. And, remember, the pink triangle was the symbol used by the Nazi party to mark homosexuals who were sent to internment camps along side the Jews. So, in fact, they did fight for the right of Homosexuals to live unharassed.
I did not speak on behalf of your COUNTRY I spoke on behalf of my FAMILY who I HAVE talked to regarding this and who's beliefs I know and respect and honour every day of my life and strive to be half the human beings any one of those three were. I recomend before you speak about some one else's family you consider you may not actually KNOW anything about that person or their family.

Actually no it didn't, it fought because at the time we were still a colony and beholden to our mother nation. But let me rephrase --
Oh I'm sorry, I thought I was talking to some one who actually had a brain in their head but instead I'm talking to some one who is obviously trolling the forums and didn't even bother to read my response about talking about my FAMILY and not my COUNTRY or YOUR COUNTRY but hey, I'll just let you continue in your blissful homophobic ignorance.
That's cool, intelligent discussion with people who have brains is something I don't expect from internet trolls. My bad. I'll wait until you talk to some one who actually SAW the death camps or watched their friends burn to death on the next ship over and couldn't do anything as u-boats harassed their convoy or hung out with the black men in the segregated AMERICAN army in northern British Columbia and listened to Jazz music and see how they feel about hatred in any and all it's forms. Later dumbass.

Okay Dark Wayne, here's what's happening. I get an email saying some one responded to my comment. I click on the link and it brings me to a window dedicated to the thread with a box to write a comment on the thread. It's been a while since I got in involved back and forth on here (I usually reply to the one comment and move along not responding to mutliple comments.) So I entered my response thinking it would keep it in thread never returning to the main thread.
Silly me for doing that. I mean this is the same website that can't seem to get the password to stick DESPITE sending you an email to use a password they generated when you submit comments and having an option to "remember me" that doesn't actually seem to do anything.
Believe me I have tried this across at least five different computers and despite entering valid passwords and selecting the Remember me button on each it acts like I'm a new person each time I come back (and yes cookies are turned on.) So I'm sorry for the poor design of Joystiq's website and the fact that it's counter intuitive. You'd think they'd have nested comments so you could reply to a reply instead of monster threads or even if you go to a message that's a dedicated thread to a comment that you reply to that and it would keep it in thread. Silly me.

No I just hate homophobia and hatred in all it's forms. That's lovely you have family that fought in World War II, I hope they got through with minimal pain and suffering. I would hope also then that you would understand when I comment on my family's motivations I'm commenting on my family and not my country and for some one to come along and belittle their beliefs it sticks in my craw. Especially when I have sat across from my grand mother and watched her talk about loosing a child and her first love within weeks of one another or hearing her stories about the Red Cross and Air Force. Or hearing my grand father's stories about his time in the navy. I don't give a damn what my country fought for but I care about what my FAMILY fought for and for some one (you) to come along and belittle that is more then slightly distasteful.
Any how, I'm done, comment away all you like. Support hatred and homophobia if you want because every penny put in to Card's pocket is a penny given to a man who wants my friends in jail for being who they are and living their life in a way that hurts no one. Just don't get pissy when I stand up for my beliefs, Card and you have the right to say what you think and feel just as I do.

If you seriously think that America fought in WWII for anything but resources and strategic positions in the Pacific you're kidding yourself, they even denied boatloads of Jewish refugees. The US wasn't even emotionally involved in WWII until the Japanese got dick of you messing with them and blew the hell out of Pearl Harbour.
Oh and @commonperson
I'm fairly sure that the War of Independence was fought prior to 1939, dumbarse.
