I think that If Braid can be popular, this game can be popular. I really hope they do a port though. Seeing my favorite games from back in the day get parodied and satirized sounds like a formula for success.

Shooterbox hmm...How about the Xbox 360, would they be interested in that?

Furthermore, if there was a lack in unique and innovative titles on the 360 like your implying, wouldn't 3DDGH want to jump on that untapped customer pool?

Really, shooterbox?

What is From software's relationship with Sony? This isn't an exclusive because of some deal is it? Demon's Souls wasn't exclusive in that manner either to my knowledge. Perhaps they only have PS3 dev experience and don't want to pay to have it ported. I would support multi platform ports even though I have a PS3. No reason why good games shouldn't be enjoyed by all.

@ Dr. Blight - Sony Computer Entertainment presents Killzone 2, Resistance, Warhawk, SOCOM, and MAG. Sony would very much appreciate if you start calling their console a "Shooterbox" as well.

@noughtsoclever -

I may be wrong, but I think Sony is the Japanese publisher of Demon's Souls. I have no idea if they purchased exclusivity for the title, but their being the publisher is certainly one big reason why the game won't be coming to the 360 (sort of like how you won't see a Microsoft published title on the PS3). Atlus got the rights in the US because Sony thought Demon's Souls would be a massive failure here. They most likely won't make the same mistake with Demon's Souls 2 (which will likely be published by Sony in the US)

As for 3D Dot Game Heroes, I think it was more of a Japan-centric decision to only make a PS3 version. If you think your game is only going to sell in Japan, and the Japanese only have PS3's, there is no reason to even consider a 360 version.

Hey, even I'm surprised. I started this gen on the Wii and it wasn't until Rock Band 2 that I decided to get something with a hard drive at all. I had/have a PS2 and ignored the first Xbox but decided to get a 360 because of friends/family.

I've mostly been playing a lot of multiplatform titles of late, making not having a PS3 a non-issue. As far as exclusives go, I would rather have a PSP than a PS3. At the moment.

The Wii has been lacking in successful 3rd party titles. You could say that it's because the publishers haven't been marketing it properly or maybe the devs aren't putting enough effort into the games. Either way, at this point, the honeymoon is over and many 3rd parties are moving on to the 360 or PS3 for their big budget games. I agree that most of the games that 3DDH pays homage too are from the NES but I understand why they would be reluctant to put this game on the wii. Besides, it really looks good on the PS3. High resolution blocks.

Define Nintendo fan? Someone who loves their old games doesn't necessarily like their new games/hardware. The company that has changed so dramatically in a few short years is bound to have a different fan base. The game would do well on Wii in theory, but it has just as much potential to do well on other consoles.

As someone who was very satisfied being a Nintendo fan from NES up through the GameCube (Battalion Wars, DK Jungle Beat, Odama, and Chibi-Robo were a great sendoff), I do most of my gaming on PS360. Owning all three platforms, I'd still get this for PS3 over Wii if it were coming out for it.

I agree with "not really" and here is why Sam...

1. The Wii has a bunch of titles, both new and on VC that this game is emulating, satirizing , etc.. The PS3 has... well... NONE!

2. The PS3 install base, considering how expensive it initially was, is more skewed towards HC gamers than casual gamers compared to the Wii. Sure, the Wii has 10x (guessing) the install base, but a large percentage of those people would not even consider picking this game up even if they saw it. PS3 install base- much more likely to buy percentage wise.

3. Content, extras, polish- even if the Wii could handle this game, the PS3 has much more ability to allow the devs to do whatever they want using the PS3 hardware and all the space on a BR.

Now- 360- Even though I don't own one, I don't see why they wouldn't want to port it.

"1. The Wii has a bunch of titles, both new and on VC that this game is emulating, satirizing , etc.. The PS3 has... well... NONE!"

That's exactly it. The audience is hypothetically there on the Wii. You don't think the 6 million+ people who bought Zelda Twilight Princess would be interested in this?
That's how it's always worked for Sony and MS – they come out with strong first party and/or headliner third party exclusives, third party companies follow up with major and minor games in the same genre. Why do you think there are so many shooters on the 360 (and PS3, since Sony went after MS's bread 'n' butter this gen)?

This isn't a game that is meant to sell a lot of copies. Everything about it is niche and it'll be lucky to breach the 200k mark... in that sense, total install base size means little. It's about appealing to the most informed audiences with a game like this. It's one of the rare occasions where it has a high probability of outselling it's competition on the Wii.

Have third parties SO COMPLETELY f-cked (damn Joystiq filter!) themselves on the Wii that they can't appeal to that hardcore, ultra loyal Nintendo audience for whatever reason? That's also a VERY real possibility. I certainly don't disagree with the logic behind putting ANYTHING (except maybe Epic Mickey) on PS3 or 360 at this point.
I'm not saying it should be Wii exclusive... just that it makes a lot of sense to put this on the Wii in addition to the PS3. Hell, Darksiders should have been on the Wii, too.

You know whats really crazy is that, going back to the above mentioned base building thing... no third party has tried to appeal to the Nintendo audience since the SNES days. There were a couple of REALLY bad 3D platfromers in the first year or so of the N64, I guess, but that's it. Occasionally a bone gets thrown (Okami port, Beyond Good & Evil), too.

So really, I bring this all up because games that are obviously well suited to Nintendo consoles (like 3D Dot Heroes) always make me wonder:
If Halo begets FPSs on 360, if Final Fantasy begets RPGs on the Playstation, GTA and DMC begets action games on the PS2... why do Zelda and Mario not beget action/adventure and platformers on Nintendo consoles?

When it comes down to it, the only reason to say it belongs on Wii is because that's the Nintendo platform and this game appeals to people that played games that mostly appeared on Nintendo platforms a good while back. But when it comes down to it, do you honestly think most the people that grew up on NES/SNES games are doing most their gaming on the Wii now?

It's not a question of whether really how many of those people are doing their gaming on the Wii now, although judging by the sales of NSMBW, not to mention the (unfortunately) consistently high sales of things like Sonic, Punch-Out or Mega Man on the Wii... I'd say an audience with a taste for retro and classic franchises is definitely still there on the Wii.
