Kick-Ass: The Game coming to PS3 and iPhone

The not-so-super heroes of the upcoming movie, Kick-Ass, are brawling their way to two platforms: iPhone and PlayStation 3. Like the movie, the game adaptation follows the adventures of ordinary people who decide to dress up in costumes and fight crime ... in the goriest way possible.

While we're getting a Watchmen: The End is Nigh vibe from the entire project, Kick-Ass does bring some innovation to the table. The press release promises an "unsurpassed integration of Facebook and Twitter to the PSN Network," making it the first game ever announced to take advantage of PS3's Facebook feature in a way that's more meaningful than syncing your Trophies and PlayStation Store purchases. It appears Facebook will play a vital role in the game, with the official site promising "Facebook missions."

Kick-Ass: The Game is expected to release on April 15th, the same day as the film. You can check a trailer for the movie after the break -- and if you're not at work, you can catch the uncensored red band trailer on Youtube.

For some reason I'm not happy for this being PS3 exclusive and I own a PS3....

Haha, your screenshot shows decapitation, and it's supposed to target iPhone? Yeah, good luck ever getting an approval.

Ah man what if that's not the iPhone graphics and it's PS3 gameplay?

Well, gore seems to be the whole concept of the game, so unless the iPhone version suddenly turns into a Mah-Jong game (and then, they may still have to re-think the title) I foresee some serious validation problems.

I'd say it has terrible graphics.

I believe that the blood and gore on the iPhone will be replaced with sweat... ahh those wonderful MK memories on SNES

If graphics are the only terrible thing you think it has then you're being incredibly generous.

Well, the game will probably end up being crap, but it's cool to see developers at least attempting some kind of a twist.

At first my heart stopped beating thinking this was Splinter Cell coming to PS3 and iPhone but then I realized that Bad Ass the game is totally different :)

Same here. Though then I thought "Wait, no that's bad ass, so is this a similar game to Splinter Cell?"

Bad ass beats kick ass any day of the week.

Oh, and dear Joystiq, if this is Kick-ass and SC: Conviction is bad ass, then what is thief? Medieval ass?

My favorite comic just turn into what will be my favorite movie and I won't even be able to play it because I have an Xbox.

I doubt you'll be missing much. I'd be genuinely surprised if this wasn't completely terrible.

It's okay though, the movie will most likely still be awesome.

Jobs: "Yeah, Kick-ass, that's it. Just release a version of the game for the iPhone and keep the App Store in mind in the future. Steve Jobs could always use the support of someone like you. Besides, I'd hate to see you go to prison. I'm sure neither of us wants that..."

I freaking loved the comic book, Mark Millar is one of my favorite writers.
Hopefully the game wont suck too much, although i doubt it'll be a first day buy

Whenever I think of how bad Mystery Men was, I remember how good The Specials was and all is right again with the world.

No, I'm sorry. Matthew Vaughn (teaming up once more with Jane Goldman no less) is enough to give this film hope, and its already looking quite good. Just because it has a similar theme to *insert mediocre 'band of unlikely super heroes' story/film* isn't indicative in any way of its potential quality.

how come theres no blood at the point of injury. but aside from that this game looks like shit.there's not enough power in the ps3 to make that shit look good.(lol)but enjoy .

No More Heroes?

I saw this trailer recently and thought it looked great. I can't help but to worry about the quality of the game tho.

The iPhone version will be called KickGrass, and will involve planting pretty flowers. Non-wobbling flowers. Without pollen, as showing reproductive organs is a no-no.

Wait, violence in the App Store is OK. Awesome! Kick-Ass will be approved, in all it's gory.
