For a company that said that they were not into gimmicks after commenting on the Wii when it first came out, this is really sad for Sony. They actually state the words "innovative" in this article. How embarrasing. I guess they will solidify the fact that they are most definately followers and not leaders, when they release the game "Sony Sports," with motion control tennis, bowling, and golf. There is an old saying "If you cant beat them, join them."

CD? DVD? Blu-ray? Eye-Toy? Great innovative franchises? They most certainly are leaders, not followers. They're just trying to please the motion controls sheep. And honestly, can anyone blame Sony or Microsoft for investing in their respective motion control devices when the Wii has sold so much? Didn't think so either.

Good one, Joystiq.

I actually wouldn't mind SOME of the Wii's more promising titles to be ported. A lot of the Sega library, in particular Madworld, HOTD: Overkill, and The Conduit, some of the Capcom library...

With true 1:1 sensing, it should control much better.

@nofriendo (and for a good reason apparently)

No one's saying those games aren't good. Quite the contrary. But with better graphics, true 1:1 motion sensing on powerful hardware, and better online capabilites, imagine what they COULD be.

Stop being so narrow-minded.

sorry Dr. I don't mean to rant on you but I just doubt they'll be able to port much of the good games (mostly Nintendo Wii games) and that if they did that it would sell well.

To tell you the truth I liked Sony's demo at E3 with their motion controller. Here's hoping that the make games I've been waiting for Nintendo to make.

@Storm Eagle

I have a feeling it takes alot more than just putting the game on a Sony disc to make a once SD game into HD. There seems to be alot of programming (I could be wrong) when I think of how long Perfect Dark took to get on XBLA.

It seems to be a risk for Developers, especially on the edge of a new console generation.

CAPCOM Collection: RE4, RE5 GE, RE: TDC
Sega Collection: House of the Dead O.K. Madworld,

All on PS3!!! Yahoo!

@nofriendo

Then tell me why that Wii emulator (Dolphin) can render Wii games out in high definition ... the difference is staggering.

This is Mario Galaxy in 720p without changing any textures or anything:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ojrq5DgEZuQ (be sure to watch the video itself in HD on youtube)

Mario Kart and NSMBWii: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fno-O8dxyYA

Madworld: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SS2IHXeO3Dw

I don't knopw all the technical stuff but thats a PC emulator thats outputting the games in HD without changing any of the textures or doing any kind of work. Its certainly possible on consoles ... look how gorgeous they look, and those are SD games designed to play that way!

It would be awesome if they ported Resident Evil 4 from the wii onto the ps3 when the arc, gem or whatever they call the PMC comes out. And upscales the graphics. That would be totally awesome.

Seriously, why even bother posting garbage like this?

Just from a personal stand point, I really find playing Motion Control games to be a chore. It's why I don't play my Wii as much as I'd like to.

Hell, when I was playing the Heavy Rain demo last night, I cringed every time I had to use the SixAxis controls...

I guess I'm just old-fashioned.

In some games, the motion controls are best left as just an occasional action. I still like Zak & WIki's use. But the motion controls rarely improve the game (except for games like Tiger Woods 10). It's the IR that seems a lot more useful and improves my playing games.
