I'd imagine the demo helped a lot.

The demo is the main reason I didn't buy it. I was hoping this would be the deep Star Wars experience they were leading it up to be (they made sure to name drop the Jedi Knight series during its development) and it ended up being a very simplistic action game that should have stayed in the sixth generation. It's not a bad game by any means, I just didn't feel like adequate levels of force were being unleashed when gameplay was reduced to quick time events.

I'm pretty sure more than one person was captivated by the chaos the physics engine looked to provide. I didn't get it myself, but I can see what people liked about it.

Actually the demo was what convinced me not to buy it. While I thought most of it was pretty cool, the camera was unmanageable.

I've talked to many that thoroughly enjoyed the demo. I wasn't too irked at the camera, either but then again I was able to somehow deal with the camera in Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 so it just might be my extremely low standards.

No More Heroes 2, now THAT has a balls camera.

Eh, NMH2 could use some improvements but it never really detracted from the game because most of the time you still know what's going on, since you're locked on to your enemy. And the camera in SA2 was decent enough, at least in the Sonic/Shadow levels.

I thought the full game would have been better than the demo, so Starkiller might actually get powerful, but it never got there for me even when maxed out. My Hero from Fable 1 was far more unleashed. bosses were too long winded and unsatisfying, where some attacks didn't even need to hit you to take you down, like Brood's lightsabre throw.. blocking should have been instant.. and then there's the Star Destoyer sequence which took 3 pulls.. and about me about an hour on hardest, wasn't til I read the prompts lie that I got it done.. that should have been a cutscene, not a dumb 'puzzle'..

Indeed.

It's a shame a title like this does so well when better Star Wars titles have been slighted.

It's an okay game. The controls were pretty bad and the missions boring and in short supply.

By the time I felt the game hit its stride it was over. I was a little annoyed to say the least.

In retrospect it felt more like a tech demo than game. But hey, I guess it could be great in the sequel. I mean, Jedi Academy was absolutely great so you never know.

Even if we pretended that every copy was only $10, that's $70 million. If I made that in two years, I'd be lighting hundred dollars bills with hundred dollar bills.

It wasn't a bad port actually. Local multiplayer exclusive, and some right satisfying controls. Some problems, to be sure, but ultimately it was a quality port, and sold about as much as the PS3 version (or more, i forget).

Man the first time I saw the video sequence for killing Vader at the end, the whole claw thing kinda creeped me out a bit.

Hope the second one is able to surpass the original. I had to swap discs once at GameStop due to bugs. Wasn't fun considering I was on the last level at the time.

I did get around to buying Unleashed and it was alright.
the "sequel's" story line better make sense for how the hell the first one ended. each ending seem to be air tight with no possibility of a legitimate sequel. at least the for the good ending which is what the trailer looks like it's going one since the evil one end with him becoming that robot thing in that picture.

I'm just not understanding where they are gonna go with the sequel.

I read that they were going to do an alt. RotJ for dlc like the other two. So are they just going to make a full game out of that then? Instead of taking down Sidious, Yoda gets the axe this time?

I'm intrigued about this game. The first one wasn't that bad in my opinion, but did have alot of glitches and bugs. Hopefully this time around they know what they're doing and have a polished down sequel.

Eh, you guys are silly. Jedi Knight series begs to differ about Star Wars games being new to being good. Seriously. Also, anyone heard of a game called Rogue Squadron? Kids these days :P

D'oh. You said rare, not new. I still stand behind what I said though, there are actually a lot of good Star Wars games, they're just older. I believe a certain TIE Fighter game was also very popular back in the DOS days.

Im having a hard time thinking of Star Wars games that ARENT great. I had to dig deep to remember Jedi Starfighter, and even the obviously half assed and kid aimed Republic Heroes wasnt bad. Really the only things i can think of are shitty handheld games.

Jedi Starfighter has a higher Metacritic ranking than Force Unleashed (and rightly so, imo).

I'm actually slightly at a loss as to Joystiq's current positive stance towards The Force Unleashed. IIRC, it was generally considered a disappointment on release.

Yeah, that's what I thought too... haven't played TFU yet, but I don't think I will judging from the reviews. I'm actually going to go back and play Dark Forces and Jedi Knight since I missed out on those before, and I picked them up during the Steam holiday sale.

Rogue Squadron was awesome. I really hope that TFU2 drastically improves on its fore bearers mistakes. I enjoyed TFU, I did, the only caveat is that I enjoyed it as a rental, not a purchase. Now I think it would cost more to rent the game than to buy it.

I don't know why they haven't made a current-gen Battlefront game. I mean, wasn't BF2 the bestselling Star Wars game at the time? I dunno how well KOTOR3 would sell though, but Bioware has expanded their fanbase since KOTOR, and given how well DA:O sold, I could see a KOTOR3 selling, though it might be jarring to come into the mythos that late (since two games have already been released). I would guess TOR gives them that "new start" that they need for the newer gamers.

Can anybody see how much Bioware likes retconning the technology advances in Star Wars? The Sith Empire and Republic are pretty much carbon copies of the movies' Empire and Republic, respectively, right down to the starships and foot soldiers.

It makes sense that technological advancement would hit a plateau at some point, not to mention lost technology that is rediscovered centuries later. In fact, most ancient cultures were ahead of where we are now, socially and mathematiclally speaking.

I don't understand the whole Battlefront 3 thing either. I loved the 2nd one and just wishhhh they would come out with BF for this console generation... It would be an instantaneous pre-order for me lol

KotOR3 is in the works for a Spring 2011 release. They decided to drop the "Knights of" and "3" from the game's title though.

In all seriousness, I bet rolling a Jedi Knight in TOR will be similar to playing a KotOR3.

Oh and I agree with Finn, give me SWBF3. Hell, can LucasArts at least release for PC the DLC pack that the XBox version of SWBF2 got some 4 years ago+? The XBox 1's support for playing or getting DLC for SWBF2 is about to go down, and they still haven't released that pack for PC.

Alas, SWBF3 has some sort of curse where every developer who touches it dies. First "Free Radical", then Pandemic. Who's next? Will the curse prevent it from ever coming out?

The PSP version was the best of them all. Seriously, everyone with a PSP should get it. I finished it around seven times I think. May be time for another go at it, the physics are pretty neat for a PSP game :-) . I love it and I'd take it over any of the stationary console versions (if you're wondering, yes, I have played the 360 version).

I played both the Xbox and wii version. I like the Xbox version better. You can do combos easier and much of the story and stuff you can do was left out of the wii. I like on the wii that you could control the light saber somewhat. It was not good enough. If I made a swing in the wrong direction it would swing out and give someone a chance to strike me.

Such as after you are "killed" the first time and you escape the ship. In the Xbox version you get to do that and save the girl in the wii version it just does a bad cut scene. Also in the wii version you don’t bring down the ship either yet another cut scene.
The force powers in the wii felt more limited too on how to control them. And the camera was the worst part. I just think over all the wii version was not good at all.
Yes in the wii version you get the option for the 2 player duels, big deal.
