That said, even if you're a strident console-only gamer, the above walkthrough also gives us our first eyes-on with "Valparaiso" -- a multiplayer map apparently set in the Chiléan city. Here's a shocker: it looks just as impressive as everything else we've seen from the game thus far (even more so, graphically speaking, as it's running on a presumably tricked out PC). Bad Company 2 arrives on your console of choice (minus the Wii) in early March.

My most looked forward to game for quite some time. This definitely gives MW2 a run for its money, and I hope those that put MW2 on a pedestal at least try this game, and will see how great it really is, and do I dare say, better it is...

i tried the demo, and i just couldn't get into it. having to run for a long while before you get back into the action really slows down the pace of the game for me.
i'll stick with MW2, but i don't fault anyone for choosing BFBC:2 over it. different strokes, different folks, i guess.

The day FPSs take a "break" is when Japan stop producing mediocre JRPGs.

As a PC gamer, I can't wait for this game. It's so nice to hear a developer actually care about the PC, unlike IW who treats us PC gamers like the red-headed step children.

i find it funny how "caring for the PC" is just doing what every shooter used to do for PC 2 years ago.
oh, how our standards have fallen.

Unless it's changed from the beta, the interface is still a little cludgy. I always hope that new developers will license/copy the Valve's server browser and menu setup because it's the BEST on the PC. Minimalist, no fancy animations (a little fade in at most), and fast.

I thought the guy(s) playing sucked until 2:34. That was an awesome shot.
I pre-ordered this for 360, but I'm starting to think it would've looked better on my PC. I wish more of my friends knew how to build PCs. Heck, I'll probably get it for both if I end up liking it enough.

Honestly, building a PC isn't difficult. If you don't know anybody that can build one, then you become that person. There are a bunch of walkthroughs online. For me personally, it was also a pretty fun experience, and very rewarding.

Oh, lol, I know how to build one- they don't.
Also, funding is an issue, and they're all students so we have no cash XD. I love the rig I built, and I wouldn't mind teaching them, but they're too lazy XD.

It seems like there are some significant differences between the PC and console versions, so I most definitely will pass on buying this for my PS3 and wait until I have my updated gaming rig.
The PS3 demo didn't look as good or control as tightly as I had hoped it would. Thats too bad.

Ah man .. this makes me hate buying the 360 version even more. I have no choice since my friends only play on the 360 and to make it worse ... I have a PC that is running the beta high settings too :(
I'll probably buy it on the PC if it goes on sale though.

If you are getting the PC version, that is great. If you can only get the console version, that is great also. This game kicks ass on every system it is being released for.
Anyone that is interested in FPS's at all should purchase this game day 1. These developers broke their backs to produce this game with great quality(unlike some other dev back in November).
Buy this game. Play it. Own it. Love it.

i must have missed something.....have you worked at both infinity ward and DICE? do you have first-hand experience of either of those companies making this game to claim that one "broke their back" during development while the other didn't? man, you must be really sought after all of that work experience.
trying to rally up support for a game you're excited about is one thing. talking out of your ass and making things up is another.

@David.
I'm not trying to make things up. I don't like to make things up. If I'm wrong, correct me. No, I don't work for either company.
I only speak ill of IW because their latest release has less multiplayer features than their previous releases. MW1 and MW2 do not really have major differences between gameplay or visuals (not that it is a bad thing). They already had previous experience with developing the gameplay, so that should've been fairly easy. However, I am speaking for both PC and console gamers.
In previous CoD titles, you would be able to have 4 people on one console playing online, and it has been reduced down to 2 people. Dedicated servers were helpful for online and LAN helped with local matches, and both were shafted literally weeks before its release.
It also does not help that the PC version is a literal port of the 360 version, since the PC version was known to try to connect to an Xbox Live party.

The previous CoD titles have more multiplayer features than MW2. I would also say IW "broke their backs" if these features remained in MW2 because multiplayer coding is serious. They did less and still got paid.
They honestly did do less on MW2. A lot of people that dislike MW2 originally did not want to dislike it since they expected a lot more from IW, as I did.
I apologize if you feel like I am talking out of my ass. I honestly expected more from MW2.

if you were disappointed with MW2, then fine, feel free to pontificate on that all you want. but to pretend you know anything about the effort that the people at IW or DICE are putting into their respective games is, i maintain, talking out of your ass.

Okay, fine. I do not know how much work either developer puts into their game. Without comparing the 2 developers, IW seemed to cut back on their latest release.
I'm not even trying to pontificate my opinions about MW2 as the absolute truth. I didn't post on a Battlefield related article to hate on MW2, even though my one statement about IW in my original post seems to say otherwise. That was not my complete intention. I don't hate it like some people tend to show.
I do not know what amount of work or effort they put in MW2, but they could have put more effort into it. The multiplayer should have been fleshed out much more than it is right now.

@ Mystictrust You can still impact how the game unfolds even without a ton of kills. Going medic and reviving your mates can turn the tide of a match, same goes for repairing tanks and throwing ammo packs. Just do what feels natural to you. :P

@Crimson Cortex It's encouraging to hear that. I usually go support and go around healing people, but when I switch to Demolition I can run and jump all around a support guy for "days" and not get one single med pack. There needs to be more active healing in these games.

While I agree that there should be some Xbox 360 games on PC also, I do not think it will happen.
Halo 1 and 2 were developed for both Xbox and PC. The franchise became very big at that point, yet somehow, the 360 received Halo 3 and PC received nothing. Microsoft bought out and promoted exclusive rights to Halo 3 in order to sell 360's, and it worked.
While that is an old example, a newer example would be Alan Wake. Alan Wake was recently deemed a 360 exclusive when it was originally announced a PC/360 game, and the game is made by a developer that produced PC games in the past. Microsoft also bought out exclusive rights to Alan Wake as well. Their reason for doing so was to "protect the intimacy of the game by keeping it only on the Xbox." Apparently, they do not know how to be "intimate" with PCs.
The main reason Microsoft does not focus on PC is because they are not making the money they want off PCs besides their OS. Had they found some kind of market on PC gaming or if their want for money wasn't so high, we would see epic combos of games occurring.

Looks good. I played a lot of Battlefield 2, so I'll probably like this as well.
I hope technical issues don't pop up too much, BF2 was plagued by weirdness for it's entire run. I would bet DICE has gained much experience since then in regards to that, so I am hopeful.
Nitpicking, but noticed something weird - all the guns were model correct (ejection ports and action on right side of gun, out of view) except for the XM8, which was 'mirrored', essentially making it a left handed shooter's gun.

You's incorrect son.
The XM8 (and most other H&K guns) are all ambidextrous. You can practically hot-swap the ejection port. The soldier using that gun just likes getting hot brass shot all over his face.

My neverending hate of grenades in this game continues.
I love the explosions though. Seriously, despite how juvenile that sounds, I don't think any other game has a better atmosphere. In terms of sound design, graphics, music (anybody love those nice drums when you're parachuting into the Port Valdez' first attacker point?), and just general feel of combat, Battlefield outdoes any other game I've played.
Seeing a building collapse before you is awe inspiring. Not because I like seeing buildings collapse, but because it has never been done in a game in such a way.

When messing with the C4 packs in BF2, I always wished you could rig buildings to blow/collapse.
Made me think that a new gametype would be fun; have all the buildings/infrastructure destroyable, but make it so that blowing that stuff up detracts from your team's score; after all, in real conflicts inside cities, you don't want to destroy the places where people live, you want to keep it in tact.
Couldn't really work though, since so many people would grief by just blowing everything up anyway.

I played the PC beta, and I have to say...
Actually, yes, yes they did forget their PC roots.
Completely ignoring the beta being unoptimized, the actual gameplay was pure absolute Consolefield.
No prone. Limited options. Limited players. Over-focus on action.
This is not what I play BF for.
BF 1943 allllll over again.
BF3 can not come soon enough, unless they somehow ruin it too :x
