First: Sorry about the obvious gag. Second: It seems several players are having an issue with their copy of Heavy Rain not only seizing up but (in a few cases) corrupting their save data; you can read all the stories on the PlayStation forums. Info is limited at the moment, but a Sony rep in the thread suggested the stopgap of waiting at least five minutes before rebooting if a freeze occurs. The rep seemed hopeful that measure would enough to avoid save data corruption.
Heavy Rain is intense enough without having to worry about losing your save data at any moment. Here's hoping we have word of a fix soon.
[Thanks, Ryan S.]

My game froze right as Jayden got back in the car at the crime scene.
That was after Ethan kept gaining elevation even after he'd finished the stairs. He walked through the ceiling, the camera zoomed on the floor and I lost control. Luckily, that only required a reload.

That happened to me in the demo but not in the retail game. I went toward Jaydens car, the screen went black and there was a LOUD noise. Freaked me out and I thought it was part of the game for a while ... like from the tryptocaine or ARI thing.

I love that thing. Like when you can smash the little balls and change the environment around you ... aww man it's beautiful. I like the dessert one the most. But yeah that is the coolesy effin gadget ... even the animation when you open the files and it's a virtual filing cabinent is tight.

I spent a few minutes enjoying the ARI virtual sky environment, wishing I could have one of those for work.

Damn you guys too? Mine froze with Jayden right near the car.
Had to hold down the power button and reboot. Since then, no problems.......fingers crossed.

Mine froze up at the beginning of the crime scene after the audio cut out. I was finally able to pass it and I have only had a few problems since. It's killing what is a fantastic game.

mine froze there last night too. did you guys have to re-play that entire chapter, or did it autosave after he says "looks like i've seen everything"? i also got ethan stuck inside the chair when shaun finished his homework. he couldn't move, and shaun just stood there waiting on him to do something.

at least they are addressing it. Unlike another recently released game that is incredibly popular. I got 2 game breaking glitches and yet haven't heard any word on them nor were any of these glitches every mentioned in reviews. Found it odd.

ya I neglected to say the name of the game in fear of the fanboy backlash. I'll just say it was Imagine: Babysitters.

I've had six freezes so far, and one issue where I was in the middle of sitting down as I was asked a question, and as a result, it cancelled out of the sitting animation, but wouldn't let me respond or move around or anything. Hella glitchy, but I'm still enjoying myself anyway.

It crashed on me once requiring a hard reboot and then the audio glitched a couple times too but fixed itself.
What i hate the most is during some cut scenes, the extras will walk right through the main characters during a cutscene. It happened to me during the Police HQ Ethan ex wife scene.

My copy has messed up twice.
I don't think these are spoilers since they don't give anything away that isn't in the trailers, but just to be safe.
*spoilers*
The first time was hopping a fence with Ethan, I just extreme close-ups of the ground or gravel depending on which view I was using.
The second time was with Norman Jayden. The game froze (not the music though) after entering the meat locker.

I'd hate to have my data corrupted again... Skate 2 did that, and I lost all my saves :(

Gee, Justin, from the podcast I got the impression that you didn't like the game...
In fact, you predicted a 'backlash' from people once they played the game? Is this what you meant?

Obviously... when it rains like that people tend to stay home and sit around their house all day and fall asleep from time to time. The freezing in this game is when your character is taking a nap. Please stop complaining about this feature so that we who have not yet bought the game can enjoy it.

I have not had any issues with freezing or corrupt saves. But I have had numerous times where in game videos would not show. For example (not a spoiler) - Ethan was in his crappy house and goes up stairs turns on the TV and the camera sits on a black screen TV for 10 seconds, then the guy starts crying. What the heck was he watching? Same with many of the videos he gets on his cell phone. No video, just silence, then a reaction from Ethan. Really rips you out of the moment!

I've had a handful of freezing issues. At one silent point in the game, it went pitch black and a LOUD ASS THUNDERING RAIN noise scared the hell out of me. Picture black and piercing noise caused me to have to turn it off, but I hadn't been that scared in a video game since the time them those dogs jumped through the window in the first resident evil.

I had some graphical glitches (jaydens sunglasses folded themselves up, the broken egg shells floated in the sky etc) but it didn't freeze on me.
Man the game is intense. I played through it from start to finish last night in one session. I'm about to hunker down and try and get another play through ... this time with everyone getting killed.

Oh -- My origami came out perfect ... not because I'm good with that stuff (I'm terrible) but because I cheated and had my old lady do it for me =) I've got it sitting in front of the TV now.

You want them do die? I can't believe none of them died on the first play.
*spoilers*
I couldn't figure out how to save Jayden fast enough, then when I wanted to save Lauren apparently the buttons I pressed were for "break window" and not "wake up girl". Finally I kept trying to make it out of that last house, but my character kept turning around on me at the worst possible moments, so I didn't make it in time. Oh, and Ethan shot himself :(
But hey, at least Scott lived... :'(

Same as Mills, no problems for me. I'm only at the police station, playing wall ball, but still... I've read about the issues others have brought up here and on the Playstation Forums, but haven't yet experienced them. Here's hoping I don't have to...

Can you at least have multiple saves as backup? Or did they pull the same bullshit as Fable 2 giving you only one save thats begging to be corrupted?

Anyone else have that beat from the Blue Lagoon (whatever the club was called) in their head? I don't know what the song is called (there are a few different ones that play) but it has these real heavy bass hits ... it's sound almost machine like if that makes sense. Ok here goes nothing: it's like BUUUUUUUUM BUM DE BUM BUM BOIR BOIR BOIR ... yeah I know that probably doesn't help at all but I can't get the damn beat out of my head.
