Exactly. I can't wait to see what they did with the gameplay MP3: Corruption was a bit too much button mashing for me.

Like putting on socks before pants...

Nintendo is bringin' it something fierce! June 27 is a LOT sooner than I expected for Metroid. I was thinking August or September. Very awesome, though. Nintendo has April-June locked up tight for me.

It's about damn time they stepped up and released some core franchise games. Maybe Zelda actually releases this year and they have the coveted trifecta of Mario, Zelda, and Metroid.

The Wii has more core franchise releases (past, present, and soon to be) than Gamecube and N64 combined.

I think your definition of core and my definition of core are different. It's good to see them trying this year, thats all. Seemed like they had given up on core gamers all together last year. Today, thats who they were targeting. As I said, it's about damn time.

You mean unlike every year since the release of the Wii?

Nintendo could release nothing this year and still somehow make 8 bajillion dollars.

Ohhhhhh maaaaaaan here it comes!

I'm so anxious! I have no idea if this game will be good or not! As much as I love this series, I have every suspicion that Team Ninja's going to mess this up. The whole "let's fill this with absurd backstory" angle frightens me.

"Remember me?"

Well, Nintendo has to have something lined up for Christmas then, right? My guess would be Zelda.

Though I really wish it were Pikmin 3.

I'm starting to think with the amount of hardcore games they have this year, Pikmin 3 could very well be an E3 announcement.

I'm really hoping they made some sort of announcement soon. At the risk of being slaughtered I'm going to admit I'm not really a fan of Zelda. So once I've played through Galaxy 2 and Other M I fear my Wii will be collecting dust for quite a long time.

I'm feeling Pikmin 3 for 2011. If you look at the spread of Nintendo EAD groups, who's available and who's not, it seems like Pikmin 3 could come from EAD 1 or EAD 4 (since 2 does most of the Wii ____ stuff, and thus is most likely on Wii Vitality, 3 is Zelda group, and EAD Tokyo is just finishing Galaxy 2).

My bet is that it's coming from 4, since they did the New Play Control Pikmins, but 4 was also the group that did NSMBWii, so they might be a while.

Wow, impressive release date. For Nintendo, this is a pretty damn bold move. Don't mean to rock the boat, I'm not very excited for this or SMG2 but it's good to see Nintendo fans finally getting something that doesn't have "Wii" in the title.

As someone who has really only liked the 2D Metroid games thus far, and is lukewarm on Team Ninja's games, I'm skeptical but very interested.

I just hope I'm done with Mario Galaxy 2 by the time this comes out...

Hopefully it'll incorporate the better elements of both, with Nintendo SPD heading actual level design (maps and the hopefully intricate network of elevators), whereas Team Ninja designs enemies and combat

This was posted on neogaf "Metroid™: Other M, the incredible new Metroid game developed for Wii through a collaboration by Nintendo and the world-renowned Team Ninja, launches June 27. The game looks at the classic franchise from a new perspective: While much of the game is reminiscent of 2-D side-scrollers, players can switch the perspective into 3-D at any time as they explore the twisting passages of a derelict space station and delve deep into a cinematic, never-before-told story of bounty hunter Samus Aran’s past. This new approach uses a new control scheme in which players use the Wii Remote™ controller held sideways to battle enemies and navigate the expansive, gorgeous environments in classic Metroid fashion, then aim at the screen with the Wii Remote pointer to blast foes in first-person and hunt the world for clues and hidden passages."

Weird. Sounds sort of like a Paper Mario type gameplay. I don't know how I feel about using the controller on the side for a long game like this, I was hoping for Classic Controller or Wavebird compatibility (I've tried and tried but I'm still not a fan of the Wii remote,) but what are you gonna do?

There is still an anti-wii fanboy in me that wants to shit on your parade, but I wont. I will say that the people who think that these offerings are better that what microsoft showed have very different tastes in games than me..... which is fine.

This might be the first wii game to make me envious in a long while.

What excites me more is having a major publisher making a big effort in a non holiday quarter. Props to the big N on taking the reigns on this issue. This leaves their E3 conference with a huge question mark.

Zelda, Vitality Sensor, that damned Retro Studios project that they keep hiding on us, Last Story, Xenoblade, with a slimmer chance of seeing either Project Sora or Pikmin 3, as well as Pokemon 5, possible Dragon Quest X, Tales of Graces localization, and Epic Mickey

Would be the best E3 for them since 06, handily, and pretty much all of those except DQX, Sora, and Pikmin are pretty much locks at this point.

They need to tease the new Zelda and drop a release date, announce that Pikmin 3 is in development, tease Pokemon 5, have a wildcard (new f-zero, starfox or donkey kong country) announced and demo epic mickey on stage. If they do that it can be considered a success. Showing the vitality sensor off and mentioning tales of graces doesn't count towards a good e3 showing. Maybe Nintendo can announce they are making a first party Wii FPS ... pipe dream I know but it would be nice to see them step outside the comfort zone of cartoon characters and do some shooter or survival horror new IP.

Slightly disappointed, in that they seem to be running it a bit too close together for my liking. Other M in August would be better in light of May Galaxy 2 and June Sin and Punishment

Oh well. The greedier part of me will enjoy playing it all the sooner.

May 23 - June 27: 1 month and 4 days. And that's with Sin and Punishment 2 right in between.

Definitely enough time to finish Galaxy 2 and then some, but not without putting off buying Sin and Punishment.
