Nintendo DSi XL video overview appeals to all hand sizes

The DSi XL is the star of the show at the Nintendo Media Summit, with the announcement an official price and release date for the system, as well as the marketing material posted above. There are no shocking revelations in the video -- well, aside from the fact that they actually went with "A Larger Experience" for the device's advertising catchphrase. A lesser blog might mention how that sounds like the slogan of one of those commercials that come on cable television after midnight. We'll abstain from making the reference.

The video does a great job of showing the size of the the device in correlation to human hands of various shapes and sizes. Check it out, and imagine what that Squiggle Pen-sized stylus will look like in your own meaty grasp.

I might pick one up if Nintendo doesn't announce the rumored DS2.

If it'd had good media capabilities I'd be more tempted to pick one up for on the go video viewing.

i can't believe that they keep making the system bigger and bigger, but still have the tiniest buttons. seriously, make them just a bit bigger and more spaced out.

I think that's the most valid point against the DSi XL.

Also, how are these larger screens going to affect the resolution of the games? I mean, just judging by the video, the icons in the menu look horrible already.

Side note. If you have to sit it on the table to play with it, it's not a handheld anymore.

They claim the resolution will not change from 256x192. It is to help with small text and precision gameplay.

Side Note: They played it on the table AND in their hands. You know, like how some people play the current DS...

We all have been anxiously awaiting a slightly larger version of the smaller version of the original large version DS.

Oh yea, and stick some cameras in there.

Getting 2 of these.. trading in a lite and a DSi.. my only complaint is not being able to keep the couple of games I downloaded on my DSi.

A game doesn't need to be in 3d to be great.......gameplay, fun, replayability, and story should take top priority before graphics........
