I'm sorry, I'm excited for Dragon Quest, but I REALLY can't think of anything else but Other M right now!....

Come on, Joystiq! Get the scoop!

Dragon Age IX by the end of the year?

Damn, BioWare's going to be exhausted pumping out another 8 of those that quick...

But still, i knew Nintendo had pledged to heavily promote DQIX, but to go so far as to actually publish it, especially when Square Enix is such a strong publisher in its own right...

Well, if Nintendo has taught us anything, it's that the ONLY way they'll publicize a game is if they make/publish it themselves. So when they said they would heavily publicize it, that was pretty much confirmation they were going to publish it.

They pledged to cross-promote it either way, though. And they're promoting Monster Hunter 3

Nintendo helps promote games that will actually make them money. Not the niche stuff 3rd parties have habitually been pitching. Sony and Microsoft do the same thing. You don't see either of them promoting niche retail games (downloadable is a different domain).

We'll see how much Nintendo actually promotes Monster Hunter. I don't think their going to do a full court press like many people seem to think. It's not in their DNA to assit 3rd parties in any way, including marketing.

It's a shame it's on the DS, or I could've summoned the will to actually care about this. =/

It wouldn't matter anyway, summons only work in Final Fantasy games.

Lol, Dragon Age IX! Wouldn't that be amazing, but I am intrigued to try out a new Dragon Quest. It's been far to long!

Doubtful, and it doesn't need to be. It's a fixture in Japan.

But I'll always get another DQ. I loves them like potato chips.

Didn't Dragon Quest VIII sell nearly 500,000 copies? I mean it's not Halo numbers but it sold modestly.

If people think its made by Nintendo or if it has "Wii" or the word "Mario" somwhere in the title then it'll at lest sell decent. Even the terrible games and non games that have "Wii" and "Mario" and the title have been really successful. People are eating it up this generation. So, I'd say so long as Nintendo actually does marketing on the game that it'll break 1 MIL units.

Was this game actually developed by level-5 for Square Enix? If so, I'll buy it and if not I won't. It's that simple for me. Level 5 = purchase.

@ Tigre - All Dragon Quest games are outsourced and DQ IX was no different. Level-5 assembled the game based on Armor Project's design under the watchful gaze of Square-Enix perched atop the tallest tower of Barad-dûr.

Yeah, how terrible of them. Just like how Nintendo published the first game in the US. Truly, truly horrible.

There is a very distinct lack of sword in the new logo. Can't wait for this game though, Dragon Quest never lets me down.

Don't forget Golden Sun!

Speaking of which, was there any info on GSDS from the summit today? Probably not, seeing as how I haven't heard anything about it.

Meh, I've already played it in Japanese, and it's alright but quite disappointing really. IV, V and VI are all better.

I hope that Square Enix is still responsible for the game's localization. As much as I love Nintendo's localization team, I've been utterly charmed by SquEnix's work with previous DQ games, and I don't think it would feel quite the same without their team behind it.

Please Nintendo/Square-Enix, hurry! It's been a long wait since Dragon Quest VIII! That game's lasted me a while, but after ~5 years? I'm more than ready for a new one!
