Nintendo has released a brand new trailer for Super Mario Galaxy 2, showing the exploits of the portly plumber and ... okay, look. We can't do this anymore. The dude's obviously not just a plumber these days. Try astronaut. Try dinosaur wrangler. Try planetoid driller. And just try not to get excited for the game's launch on May 23rd.

Sorry but I'm not impressed. I got bored with the first and never even finished it past halfway.
The only thing that looks remotely interesting is the "Boo Galaxy".
They're just doing the same thing they did with Super Mario Sunshine...add Yoshi and watch people go crazy.

Except in this case, Yoshi may as well be FLUDD. You use him to float around, attack enemies and activate switches and platforms.
It seems the only difference between the two (and thank God for that) is that you don't constantly have to keep Yoshi full of water. (Red Apples perhaps? ;))

Wasn't Yoshi in (and very well done in) Super Mario 64 DS? I know I've played one of these 3D Mario games where Yoshi didn't suck, and had all those same mechanics shown here.
I don't know what it was with Galaxy, but I just couldn't get into it and never finished. I actually went back and played Mario 64 again instead and had so much more fun with it, which is unusual for me since I tend to be one of those people that remembers games fondly but hates them when I actually go back and play them compared to modern stuff.
I think Mario 64 was just too good, too soon, because I haven't enjoyed another 3D Mario game since then (same thing with OoT).

@Vcize
I have to say Vcize, it's good to see you not disagreeing with me for once.
Super Mario 64 DS was a joke. Attempting to play that game on the d-pad made my thumb sore.
But yeah, it seems all of Nintendo's franchises have seen there best days on the N64. Starfox, Mario, Zelda....and well Samus, obviously was at her best before that. Prime was great, but nothing tops Super Metroid. Which is way Other M looks so damn awesome.

I thought Mario scored with Peach ever since he got the ''cake'' at the end of SM64.

Looks fantastic! Day one purchase (like most Mario games).
However, did anyone else notice a few very familar scenes in that video? It's been over a year since I played through it, but some parts look like they were taken directly from the first Galaxy... I'm not really complaining, and I could be wrong, the scenes could be just very similar. Oh well, another hit from Nintendo, no doubt.

This trailer gave me chills. Seriously, SMG was so good that I don't care if this is more of the same. Taking off the nostalgia goggles for a second, when it comes right down to it I'd have to say that Super Mario Galaxy is the best Mario game of all time (yes better than SMB3, SMW, and SM64).

Looks beautiful as expected.
After listening to all the crap about Heavy Rain and 'Art' and wanting to punch a load of people in the face for being clueless pretentious dicks this is just what I need.
Super Mario Galaxy is videogame 'Art', I expect this to be even better.

Nothing at all, my problem is with tossers.
Heavy Rain is not a good videogame. It may be a good movie or experience or Art or a sandwich, whatever, it is definitely not a good videogame. Nota Bene: It is none of those.
Yet the pseudo intellectuals are shouting from the rooftops about a bunch of quick time events stringing together a bunch of sock puppet mannequins through a terribly written story. Even most of the guys that actually hate it can't bring themselves to say so for fear of being ridiculed for being unsophisticated or unable to leave behind simple male power violence fantasies or whatever Leigh Alexander will spew out of her rancid vag.
Watching a plumber jumping about in space is a great antidote to all this nonsense.
Just getting some stuff off my chest dude.
In one sentence: This (Super Mario Galaxy) is what videogames are all about, it is Art, dreck like Heavy Rain and its attempt to be 'something more' and 'Art' is not.

This is what a next gen game must be, not just a graphic fest.
I just finished SMG and just wondered why any other game hast tried the kind of stuff that it did, and it did it without multiplayer.

So much has been said about the game looking amazing (which it does, BTW, and I will DEFINITELY pick this up on launch day), but I want to point out the soundtrack. Even the trailer has amazing music, but I was waiting for SMG's main riff to play. SMG's soundtrack was the first soundtrack in ages that captivated me and put me near tears, and it seems that along with the new (which sounds just as epic as SMG), they're bringing along my favorite riff ever for the ride.
