and EA wonders why they lose so much money year after year, what's next EA is going to charge me for ammunition? This is ridiculous.

so.. they lose money year after year because people buy their games used?

this makes sense...

i don't get what you were trying to say, are you angry that you have to pay them some money for optional content if you buy used?

are you threatening to not buy their games used in protest or something?

what my problem is what if the content isn't shareable and linked to only one account then what? What about people like me who have two consoles? Or when I have my own account and so does my brother then what?

Everyone is so cheerful and happy to be getting "Day 1 DLC" but this should already be on the game unlocked are ready to go for EVERYONE. You think you're getting a deal but in reality your paying for something you shouldn't have to unlock with a "VIP code".

So you mean it's just like any other dlc ever made?!

except the first purchase is free? because it comes in the box?

yes, i agree!!

Before you had to pay for the dlc twice anyways, since you have 2 consoles.

Now, you still "pay" for it twice, except the first one is included in the initial $60.

Anyone who whines about this just doesn't understand, you are getting acces to streaming dlc for months, and if you buy used, you pay 15 dollars, which you would spend on DLC regardless.

"but this should already be on the game unlocked are ready to go for EVERYONE"

Let me introduce to a little thing called "incentive" they off free day 1 DLC to people who buy new so people dont buy used.

Also these days DLC is decided when they start making the game, so when the people at DiCE got together and decided the schedule for making BC2 they decided what DLC they would do and when, it's not like they just pulled the 2 maps from the disc a few weeks before they finished it.

If you plan on buying it day then why do you care about free DLC? It would still be $60 new with or without this code included.

not on the PS3 i didn't. Every game and DLC I bought on the PS3 carried over to my brothers PS3 and was playable on his account without any issue. I don't want to have to spend $15 on my account if the DLC is linked to a EA account or something. It's ridiculous. I don't see how anyone can agree with EA business practices.

Then tell your brother to play on the same console? When you aren't on it of course. :P I've never once thought about downloading my DLC onto someone elses console. (There is a total limit of how many times you can download a single piece of DLC)

I really don't see the problem. You get free content when you buy it new. They continue to deliver free content for those who bought it new. It rewards the players with free DLC which for me saves a lot of money.

I can see how it sucks if your share an Xbox with your family but the PS3's sharing system limits you to a total of 5 re-downloads. Neither system is perfect but some benefits others more then the other.

It's kinda the same thing with Mass Effect 2 and the "Cerberus Network."

My biggest beef with dlc is when it doesn't work if you're not connected to xbox live. I canceled my internet because it was a total rip off. So I go over to my friends house to get dlc. But when I go home it gives me some bullshit about the data being corrupted and saying I have to download it again. None of my save files in which I've used dlc items will load. So lame.

@Silencio

Now THAT is a legitimate complaint. And a problem. And a reason to be weary of Project Ten Dollar. It is important to be able to play your own save files when not connected to the internet.

Solace

you can always use the same EA account for both X-box's.

The game allows you to have more than one soldier on an account, and they don't share kill stats and stuff.

Yes! A night map. Can't wait to play that. I take it that the VIP code will be included with ALL new copies of the game? Or am I left out since I pre-ordered on steam? Hope not.

Can't wait for this game.

From what I can tell, Steam users will receive the DLC as a steam game update when the DLC comes out. All the perks, none of the horseshit.

My streak of never buying a shooter on day one is about to end. Rush mode is so much fun, especially if you are lucky enough to get paired with a good squad.

I can't wait to play the other modes and maps.

its not about being in a good squad its about everyone being good as an individual because squads i am in are usual kicking serious ass all by their lonesome. Me bringing the pain sniping and spotting every enemy that passes my field of view and then the rest of my squad running around giving me spotting bonuses left and right.

Just a note for those planning on renting or buying the game secondhand, most rental stores (Blockbuster, Rogers, etc) receive these day one codes in the box, and I've found they are quite willing to hand them out with the first-day rentals as well. Doesn't hurt to inquire at your local store if you're taking that route.

If it's "Project Ten-Dollar," why do the maps cost $15 to download?

$15 for two maps?!!! Do they want people who trade for this game to download the maps or not?

They want people to buy the game new, not used. The DLC price is supposed to be prohibitive, to make people decide that buying it new is a better option.

not to mention that is 15 dollars for 2 maps initially then more free dlc as the year progresses.

in the end, you are basically getting the dlc you USED to pay more for in the box for free.

this is how DLC should be done.

I understand that part of the concept. But the other part is that they want to recoup some of the money they lose from used games sales.

People are going to buy used regardless (whether from GS or through swaptree or goozex). EA's goal is to get those people to pony up some money directly to EA, to recoup the loss from not getting in-store sales.

At $15 for two maps, most (if not all) the people who buy used will not pay for them. At $10, it is more likely that people will buy them, and at $7 or $5 it is more likely still.

Even if it's for four maps, $15 is much more than the typical cost for map packs.

I buy so much off of Amazon(blu-ray movies & games mostly) that I went ahead and kept my prime membership....its worth it....as I get stuff in 1-2 days(sometimes even release day) and it is at no extra cost....and I KNOW I would be spending more than $100 a year in shipping alone if not for that

Amazon is pretty cool. I'm getting the $20 for the preorder of BF:BC2 and then turning around to put it on Final Fantasy which will give me a $10 credit. So I save $30. Depending on the upcoming preorders and if Amazon keeps doing this you are looking at saving at least $10 on each game if you preorder and getting games that come with the credit.

Nice little program they have going and the gamer is getting a good deal.

From a complete business perspective, the Cerberus network and Day one DLC's make complete sense. Games companies make no money from 2nd hand transactions.

That doesn't change the fact this stuff leaves a pretty bad taste in the mouth, but hey, the fat cats at EA need to get payed too.

1943 fans might shed a tear, but thanks to the Steam pre-order I'll be taking my Tommy with me, and who's to stop be screaming "IWO JIIIIIIIIIIIMAAAAAAAAA!" as I charge a tank with my bayonet?

Difference between map packs and this is that the map packs cost 10 bucks and upwards. This is free with the purchase of the new game. Im not seeing how this is so horrible in comparison to World at War's 10 dollar map packs (the only good one being the 2nd). Hell, you could even wait until the game goes on sale for 45-50 bucks new and still get all the free DLC.
