This is f**k stupid. EA announces they are giving free maps for people who buy the game new and people are b*tching? You do know there is no law to make them do this right? Oh yeah, how many free map packs came with MW2? BTW get ready to pay 15 dollars for 3 MW2 maps.

So this will be free off Steam. After all the game is new and locked to an account.

Valve gives you the keys required and using the internal store enables them. Easy as pie.

Thank you gamers for proving once again that you are idiots.
Do you really think these map packs were made after the game was done? No. They were taken out the main game so they can give their so called "incentive."
I'm not dealing with this EA account bullshit, especially after Mass Effect 2. So, what did we get out of Cerberus network? A half-assed character, armor we can't take the helmet off of, and a shotgun. All those things are stuff they obviously took out of the game as an incentive. So, what happened to all the "free" dlc Bioware/EA?
Let me break it down for you who is going to buy the game:
-People don't like Activision/Infinity Ward so they are going to support the competition when they wouldn't have otherwise
-Whiny PC players trying to get "revenge."
EA must have hired a psychologist to study the average gamer, and base all their marketing and hype around it. Good job, EA!

You do realize that games aren't completed the day before launch, right? Devs schedule DLC into the development process, to be started after the game is finished. If we were waiting for all content to be put in the game, they'd never come out.
Personally, I thought Zaeed was great. And more content is coming for the Cerberus Network later, it's not like they've abandoned it already.

I see, so you set the standard for how many maps every FPS multiplayer should have. You don't even know how many is coming w/ BF:BC2 anyway. For all you know a hundred maps could be on there.
Let me break it down for you:
MW2 has no vehicles.
The end.

I'm going to buy it..... Because it's a blast to play. I'd also buy the maps if they weren't free. Because if I wanted to play games with out paying, I'd be stuck with lame flash games.

...wow, I don't think you're predicted consumers could be any less credible or any more ridiculous. If you don't support a developer, you don't buy their game, you don't run off and buy their competitor's product. Do you really think there are people who purchase a game and think,
"Ha ha Acitivision, I've purchased a game from another developer, I didn't really want it but this is for not including dedicated servers! Who looks like a complete donut now??"
People who will buy this game:
-Fans of the Battlefield series.
-Fans of the Bad Company spin off series
-People who played and enjoyed the beta/demo.
-People who think the game looks fun and enjoyable enough to warrant a purchase.
But thanks for your menstruating tension rant based foray into the realms of the ridiculous.

Thanks for proving his point, idiots.
You never hear people talking about BadCompany 2 on its own merits. All you ever hear it is compared to MW2. It is going to be better than MW2... No, duh? It isn't hard to improve on crap.
EA is getting away with a lot of bs lately, and its sickening. When another company
makes real "dlc" (as in content which isn't cut from the game) they whine about it
all day.

Speaking of numbers... I wish this game had more then 12 on 12. I just want to see walls of guys taking down by mounted gun or swarms of guys pushing through the woods.
I guess that is what Battlefield 3 is for.

Here we go again. It took me TWO weeks to get that whole Cerberus disaster straightened out with EA support, during which time my DLC was completely inaccessible. Why they have to have an in game store which requires linking your Gamertag to your EA account is beyond me. Why can't they just bundle regular XBOX Live marketplace codes? It's the same net effect. The only think I can think of is that with an in game store, it is easier for them to reward original game owners with future free DLC (which could easily just be sent to a registered email address). A video game publisher wanting to reward people with free DLC seems ironic in a way.
That being said...I have always found the Battlefield series to be way more fun than the CoD series. I mean, the ability to drive vehicles has been there since the inception of the series (it was one of the major selling points). Plus, with the destructible terrain that the Bad Company iteration has added, it just sweetens the deal. MW2 just seems so...out dated in comparison.

Fail.
Games don't go gold the day before release you fool. Usually its weeks and months before the release date, during which time the Devs aren't just sitting on their asses, THEY'RE MAKING ADDITIONAL CONTENT.
Quit whining.

The Boss is right.
Plus, seeing how the game has a pretty hefty single player campaign there may have been a lack of space for the content on one of the consoles media formats....

I'm very much opposed to day one DLC. This could have easily been added to the game, why do you have such contempt for your customers EA? At least wait a month and TRY to pretend like it's not some giants scam to segment the purchasing experience into a bunch of smaller transactions.

#1. The EA Boycott is BACK on
#2. WAIT till they start doing this with Madden
#3. I have NOT bought an EA game in 10 years and I have not missed ANYTHING
#4. Rentals will be Hurt. GAMESTOP GameFly and Block Buster Should just Boycott all EA products, because EA is trying to kill their Business
#5. When WALMART gets into the USED games Business, since they just Hired Gamestops CFO, WALMART will Smack EA across the face and say STOP doing this crap.

I am buying this day 1, regardless, as I'm sick of MW2. MW2 isn't as ground breaking as MW1 was and there are way too many cheap exploits that people constantly take advantage of. I never got into Battlefield games other than 1943 so I've been neglecting this series. Bad Company 1 was made into a big joke in their ads so I couldn't take that seriously but I played the demo for this and cannot wait to see the full game. I just hope the multiplayer holds up well enough for me to justify trading in MW2.
As for the day 1 DLC maps. I see why people are upset because it screams another EA screw job but I don't think DICE wants to do that to its fanbase willingly. I buy all my games new anyway as I am afraid of other people's germs (j/k). There's just something crisp about a brand new game.

When Walmart starts to dominate USED game sales, And they WILL since they are hiring top end Gamestop executives to get things running. When WALMART Tells EA to jump, EA will say how high?
Because Walmart wants Gamestops 10 Billion dollars a year in Profits, and Walmart can afford to steal away all of Gamestops customers.
Gamestop vs Walmart Walmart will win hands down, by offering $5 more per trade.
And when WALMART dominates used game, it will tell EA to stop this crap.

I can't help but chuckle at all of you who will be playing this game on the 360. or PS3
On the PC side we really don't have the option of buying used. Which is probably the reason they didn't bother to do any DLC tricky business. When you buy the game, you receive a CD-Key. This CD-Key is attached to your EA account. Which I assume means that using it on any other account is impossible. The nice thing though is if you wanted to let a friend or family member play on your account they can simply create another Soldier with a new name and new stats and use that.
Honestly, I actually like the fact that they're making people who buy used pay for content. It actually gives money back to the developer in the end. Buying used, GIVES NOTHING (sorry caps) and if your friend wants to use your CD to play and if he wants to play on the extra maps then he has to pay $10-$15 which I think is reasonable to be able to play a great game such as this. If he doesn't want the extra maps, then well it costs him nothing.
You have to understand, that game companies are tired of their games being given away for free, either through buying used or through piracy. A lot of time and money goes into these games believe it or not and the technology to create those HD graphics you love isn't cheap.
Simple matter of fact is, if you love the game and if you think you'll be playing this game for a year or two. Paying $50 for a new copy makes complete sense. And if you ignore any of this DLC business, then really what does it matter? Value the content based on what you're getting for $50, and if that includes extra maps that aren't on the disc and then more extra maps later on down the road for FREE. Then great, happy to have it.
Of course, again I'm on the PC. So non of this matters to me. I'm just trying to help you poor console people out. Must be rough playing with a joystick. Though I guess flying the Heli is a bit easier.
