Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero: March DLC

Next month's Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero DLC should satisfy would-be rockers of all types, offering an eclectic mix of -- oh, there's totally some Flogging Molly! Sorry, we just had to get that out of our system, because St. Patrick's Day is next month and because, man, Flogging Molly is totally awesome.

There are four distinct track packs coming next month, featuring OK Go, Blink-182, the aforementioned Molly Floggers and an '80s track pack -- because nothing says March like a dusty old denim jacket with the sleeves cut off and some Night Ranger.

Flogging Molly's cool, but the rest is a pass. In fact, most of it's been done in RB already, so why bother?

Not everybody has - or likes - Rock Band.

That's like saying "Why is game 'x' coming out on PS3 when it's already on 360?"

Im confused, how do you like Guitar Hero but not like Rock Band? What the hell does Rock Band do worse than Guitar Hero?

Just to weigh in uninvited, I prefer GH5 over RB2. I got into the rhythm genre pretty late in the game, so I'm not being fanboyish or anything. I'm just inexplicably bored to death whenever I play Rock Band, but I really love Guitar Hero 5.

I guess I just like the "mood" of it better. I suppose its a combination of graphics, graphical style, note charts, preference in note lane style, and that I like the features GH has that RB doesn't like 5 drums pads, open bass strums, party-mode, and multiples of the same instrument.

I do, however, think that Harmonix has done a wonderful job with the "Rock Band as a Platform" philosophy, and I absolutely despise the way Activision has handled licensing songs for GH, so I am incredibly dubious about buying extra tracks for GH5.

I'm anxiously awaiting Rock Band 3 in hopes that it one-ups GH in terms of features I'm interested in. GH5 with Rock Band's music library would be amazing.

Week 1 - Have them in RB

Week 2 - Have 1 song in RB and don't know the rest

Week 3 - Would like in RB but can live without 'em

Week 4 - HATE that Motley Crue song besides I have all the good songs already, have it, and same as week 3

OVERALL - meh

Flogging Molly? Really? I may have to buy Band Hero (If I can stand the smell.)

For a split second I thought that picture was of Los Campesinos! and was saddened that I wouldn't get to play their songs (Rock Band 4 lyfe!) but then I saw that it was Flogging Molly and went back to not giving a shit.

i've never heard of them or ok go. and blink 182? yuck. too bad they only have crap that's on the radio for these games. so that's a not give a shit for me as well.

I didn't know they played that much Flogging Molly on the radio. I think you are just wrong with that statement. Anyway, I like em and see them as a cool DL compared to the a-typical pop crap that IS played on the radio non-stop over and over.

(In Chicago I noticed our radio stations play the same sets of songs at the same time every day - you could set a watch to it. I'm looking at you Q101 & 97.9!)

I've only been interested in 11 songs out of all the Guitar Hero 4 and 5 DLC so far. I will buy the Blink pack though. They really need to get their asses in gear cause RB owns them in the DLC department.

those Blink songs are already in Rock Band. i got so excited for a second hoping they'd put out something other than Blink's mega-hits. Alas, no..

Why do they only ever offer 3 tracks per pack?

When I seen the 80's pack, I was thinking "Yes! Rock out to my upbringing years", Yet, them three tracks for me, are, well... pointless.

I would quite happily pay £10/$16 for a greatest hits 80's album (10-12 tracks).

Come on Activistion, stop ripping us off.

Since I bought GH5/World Tour & Rock Band Beatles, I have refused to buy any downloadable tracks because of their high prices and lack of actual tracks (3? Come on!!)

SISTER CHRISTIAN??? This is the first absolute instant-buy for me for either game since... wow. Since Clint Eastwood in RB2 last year. It's been a while since I really cared about the DLC in either game.

But anyway,

why is First Date being released on GH5. i know Van Halen wasnt a great game, but still.
