Do want. Badly. Although the controls sound kinda iffy, but sure they'll be fine once you actually get a hold of 'em... But this has to be one of my most highly anticipated titles of the year

I'm re-reading this a couple of times. A lot of good info, but it's not in any way 2.5D?

How interesting that they chose 3rd person. I think it'll suit Samus much better.... Get it?

Wait...wait...wait. You haven't turned it on in at least 5 months, yet something comes out your willing to play. Why sell it? Am I missing something?

God damn, if it's one thing I've learned about this gen is that SOMETHING eventually comes out that grabs your attention. NEVER sell a console.

For one thing, I need money for games coming out soon. I don't see the use in keeping it if I never play it. However, being the rabid zelda fanboy that I am, I'll probably re buy it when zelda comes out in 3 years or so.

I may not think the Wii is a very good system. But I would still never sell it. There are lots of games worth playing on it, and more coming out. I would hate to sell it, and then see a new Zelda, Fragile, and this Metroid game come out. I'd just be kicking myself in the rear later. Not to mention, if you sell it, wouldn't you lose all the virtual console stuff you bought?

I'm sorry but what?

How bout this. Instead of selling your Wii, don't sell your Wii. It's just stupid to sell it only to rebuy it for one game.

To be fair, one questionable game that isn't even nearly out yet does not justify owning the Wii. It has a maximum of 3 AAA games coming in the entire year.

@Ashfurball

Yet at the same time, having a AAA title coming out soon is no reason to sell your Wii.

What I don't get is WHY is this guy being down-voted - because you don't agree with him selling his Wii?

Seriously, that's what down-voting has DEVOLVED to?

@D Dog
Dude, are you serious?

You're pretty devolved yourself if you can't see what's wrong with his logic. He has a system RIGHT NOW, and he's complaining "Shoot, I wish I didn't have to sell this".
...which he DOESN'T have to sell it. There's absolutely no reason a person has to sell an item when an item that works solely for said sold item is what he's really after.

That's like saying "Shoot, Supercuts is getting an awesome new haircut available by next week, too bad I can't stand having this haircut anymore - despite that it's not getting in the way of anything or me having any real reason to cut it at this exact moment, but my tiredness of this style is "forcing" me to cut my hair now, making my head not being able to get the real haircut I really wanted due to the hair being short very soon.

I could've just waited a little bit longer, gotten my new haircut and cut it again if it still wasn't my thing, but no: I'm going to be impractical.

That make it clear for ya'?

Sounds plausible. I'll wager... they'll keep one or two around for dramatic moments or deus ex machina of some kind. One guy to make a heroic sacrifice and give Samus the chance to blow up Yet Another Ripley Incarnation, the other to scoop her up in a dropship at the last moment when the planet is going thermonuclear.

Of course, for most of the game they'll probably just be in radio contact, because when those space marines showed up in the Prime games they appeared to be anemic teenagers wrapped in kleenex compared to the space pirates.

Either way, it'll be great to find out firsthand. I do enjoy me a good ol' metroid hunt.

No nunchuck concerns me a little, but when you think about it, Nintendo never screws up a Metroid, Zelda or a major Mario game. It looks incredible, and is the game that will make me purchase a Wii if it lives up to it's potential (I'm sure it will). My anticipation is at 11.

I REALLY like 2-d metroid games... Sure corruption was fun and all but to me the real fun was in fusion and zero mision ( I never really got to play super metroid unfortunately) I also really hope this game is geared towards action and not puzzles. Puzzles aren't bad but every once in a while I just want a crazy action metroid game!

My thoughts exactly.

Apparently Super Metroid doesn't resonate with Randy so well. This game was the Citizen Kane of my childhood.

Also, I'm confused. Metrod: Fusion is Metroid 4. So, I guess Other M is Metroid 3.5????

Hmmm... kind of mixed IMO. Most of it sounds good, but not sure I like the idea of being locked in place while in 1st person nor do I like the sound of "focusing" to regain health. Still, this is one of the games I'm most anticipating for the Wii, I just have more doubts about it than I do other games I'm really anticipating this year.

I can't see why Nintendo hasn't released that game for the dsi. I thought they would of done it years ago when they were all retro-ing it up with releasing all 3 classic zelda's for the gba and whatnot.

So it is fully 3rd person 3D, but with the d-pad? Odd, but welcome. I was fearing a more purely 2.5D affair, or even partly 2.5D, like LittleBigPlanet (where there is a Z-axis, but its not all that useful)

My guess is that the resolution to the whole "can't dodge while in first person" thing is to learn to quickly flip back and forth between aiming mode and non-aiming mode.

Does seem a bit more action-y with the context-based dodging, but that's a good thing. Restores some of the agility Samus used to have in the 2d games, but lost in the transition to Metroid Prime.

Also: you have a power bomb from the beginning? Sounds like they might be setting things up to take away powers again...

From all accounts (other than Randy's) it is actually mostly 2.5D with the fully 3rd person 3-D sections being the exception and not the rule. They need to add a lock on and strafe mode as he mentioned as well as the ability to move in first person mode ... those seems like huge oversights that can really kill the action of this game.

I have to be the guy in the room that says he didn't like Prime. I could never get past the fact that it was nothing like the 3D Super Metroid successor that I wanted. So I'm realllllyyy hoping this one is good. I have faith that Team Ninja will make a great game, that's not the issue, it's that I want this to be a 3D Super Metroid. Hearing that the Super Metroid director is back to direct this one.... Makes me a happy panda.

I do want to check out the Prime Trilogy though, I figure maybe I can give it a second chance, and Wiimote controls might help that out. I'm gonna go check eBay for it and hope it's not $100 due to its discontinuedness.

Oh and to everyone talking about it being or not being 2.5D, every other prevuew I've read says that most of the gameplay IS 2.5D, and that it sometimes reaks it up with a fully 3D section. So it looks like we WILL be doing quite a bit of 2D platforming. I hope they pull it off better than Shadow Complex. That game was good, but something about it just didn't feel right. It was just wierd having a big background you couldn't walk to... Something that made sense in 2D, but just feels odd in 3D.

Well the game looks interesting so its a full 3d third person game, but somehow i have to worry a lot about the gameplay of this game, the whole gestures and the way it plays it really screams and show the limitation of the wiimote for traditional games, seriously they should add an option to use the classic controller and nunchaku.

As much as we liked the new super mario bros on wii the gameplay was tedious the horizontal wii mote its not ergonomic and the pad and button its too small and overall the experience was not good if we compare it to previous 2d mario games from snes.

FPS view for missiles? nooo why we need that. I really hate the leftover that prime series put on this one, but lets hope less FPS part.

Other than that, they should make a proper 2d version of the DS after this one

Agree 100% Seems cool on the surface but using the wii mote turned sideways for the entire game is ... terrible. Maybe it'll have support for the new classic controller thats coming out with Monster Hunter. The game must be fun because all the design issues he mentioned seem like killers on the surface.

I was about to say the same. In SM, you fight the traditional glass jar Mother Brain and then after you destroy it the rest of her body comes out of the ground.
