Was there every any DLC? They kind of soured me on buying 13. The sprites looked nice, and the engine is awesome. But what they did to Iori is unforgiveable.
After cycling through the characters, I realized I only liked playing as three or four and started holding out for downloadable characters.. pfft, right. The DLC is definitely OTC now.

No, what they did to Iori was about a decade overdue.

Here's hoping this game is actually good and not a game that says "Hey look we have as much iterations as final fantasy so we must be good" Well, I wish them luck.

Where's my power dunk!!?

Though, after XII, i'm convinced that Terry Bogard is crack shooting directly into his biceps.

Maybe this will revitalize KOF like SF4 revitalized SF for Capcom. I doubt it though. I also wish they'd reboot the story in KoF. Oh and get rid of Ash Crimson.

Made my way to Akihabara in May '09. Honestly, was the weakest part of my trip to Tokyo / Kyoto. Was lucky enough to catch the Yamanote line in time to see the Imperial Palace at Tokyo station before it closed for the day.

Oh, and Odaiba was way awesome. I'd recommend that over Akihabara any day.

Unless you have a good guide, you're going to miss a lot in Akiba. Most of the entertaining stuff is in back alleys and on higher floors.

I was there last year and to be honest my wife and I like Akiba the most out of all the wards. Here is my top though if you are ever going to be traveling to Tokyo: get of the main streets. Sure, there are some good things on Takashita Dori, Chuo Dori and around the main stations, but if you get three to five streets back you can find some great/wierd places.

I don't even care about KoF at this point, but I'll gladly take any news about arcade titles being released at this point.

Also, Mark of the Wolves had a character named Butt. Ha ha!

That Taito X2 hardware is pretty neat since it is basically a PC with off-the-shelf components. Would be cool if future consoles were like current arcade hardware then. Hopefully, there'd be a port to a PC or is there a Taito X2 emulator for the PC yet?

Sega was the company who based consoles off of arcade hardware. Genesis was built from System 16, Saturn was originally set to be a cross between System 32 and Model 1, but became something else entirely. Ironically, they took the Saturn design and made it into an arcade board, the Sega Titan, or ST-V. Dreamcast was based off of NAOMI, and their rumored new console would allegedly be based off of RingEdge.

For all the bellyaching and general upset over XII, I distinctly remember SNK saying in interviews and promos saying outright that 12 would be a completely bare bones release. It was just to get the new hand drawn sprites out there in the hardware while 13 is going to have all the bells and whistles 11 had including the end of the current storyline. Knowing that I skipped over 12 but everyone was acting like it was such a big shock. I was a bit taken aback by the fan response since I thought everyone knew their intentions already.

Yes, because everyone who plays the game knows what the directors says... It's not possible that the vast majority of gamers don't actually stalk the internet for information about games...

At $60 a pop for the latest title, yes I'd hope people do their research. The really stupid part is that I just casually skimmed some headlines. It wasn't a big secret.

$60 is a very good price for an accurate port of a well-made arcade game. My brothers and I paid $125 for a used MVS cart of KOF97 when it was a little less than 2 years old. There are so few new games that excite me as much as KOFXII did that I would gladly pay more than $60 if I had to.

People complaining about Mai not being in KOFXII only proved how long it's been since they last supported, or even played, a KOF game. She's been retired for a while and only recently came back in Neo Geo Battle Collisuem.

But that's like taking Chun Li out of SF. It's just a sinful thing to do. Regardless of how much time passes, the pain never eases.

KOF12 was cool but I didn't like the small roster, no story & most characters only had 1 super combo. hopefully they fix all that in the KOF13.

I'd like to see a souped up KOF 98/Dream Match myself.

Forget about the story which has largely been crap anyway since the Orochi storyline days; I got lost in the story around the time they started talking about NESTS. Orochi was a decent story though...weakest character in the group (Chris) goes crazy, murders his teammates (poor Yashiro), turns into usual SNK overly powered boss.

(Yes I know there's 98 UM on Live of course; I own it, the online is jank.)

Request #2, SNK - steal Capcom's netcode while you're at it. You guys are on a somewhat peaceful stance now that there's been the Vs. titles, so they'll probably willingly hand it over (instead of you having to copy it like you guys used to always copy everything off each other).

I guess SNK gave up on XII faster than expected.

All they need to do is add more content to the game instead of the shell they released it in.

I want a story. Past KOF games is more engaging than other fighting games mainly because they have a fairly deep story (Orochi, Nest, etc). I like KOF12's updated sprites, but it was a lazy project.

I hope the return Iori to his normal self while they're at it. KOF12 is to Fighting games as Windows ME is to computers: Absolutely forgettable. There will be no DLC since the game was not received well nor sold well. Figures.... why feed a dead horse?
