The whole 2K series has gone into the toilet since the Dreamcast/Visual Concepts era.

Good job, Rockstar!

I'd imagine they don't care since PC sports gamers probably represent only a small fraction of their overall 2K customers.

Considering that the game will be outdated in a year this is really bad news. Sport games don't have the luxury to have problems right out of the box as other kinds of games, simply because they are sort of sequels of a sequel of a sequel and so on and those problems should be ironed out and just keep on improving, and there is more of a chance that the online community will go down quickly as a new version of the game comes out.

I'll admit, my experience with PC gaming is quite limited, however, playing sports games on a computer seems cumbersome to me.

Is the user base large enough to warrant diligent support?

Hey, you can play on a laptop as well as hook up your PC to an HDTV, so why the hell not?

Sports games like these are great to have on PC generally. There is usually a pretty strong community of modders that fix things like the colors of the jersey's, update the court and player models, and editors are usually created to help update to the player statistics to a level that usually more comprehensive than what is allowed on console versions.

What 2K has done here is pretty much spit in our faces.

There have been two patches for the console versions while we are still waiting for our first. The all star game has passed, the playoffs are coming soon, and we still have a game with a LOT of issues, beyond just online connectivity.

I'm a diehard sim basketball fan, and with EA looking like they are gonna go the arcadey route, so 2K looks like it will be the only game in town (and on the PC'S, it is the only game in town as EA no longer makes live for the PC).

But I will not buy nba 2k again on either the PC or my 360. What they've shown to us is pretty much disgraceful. I'd rather go without an NBA game than give these guys any more of my money. It's been infuriating.

I bought NBA 2K10 on Steam during the holiday sale for $12, and still felt like I got ripped off.

The last 2K-series basketball game I played was 2K7, and this year's seemed worse when it comes to the game mechanics and graphics. It feels like a such a rushed product trying to make the prominent "2010" deadline. And the PC version is nothing more than a shoddy console port, so I'm astonished that it has a 85 Metacritic score.

Thank goodness they fixed the free-throw shooting, which is the only positive I can come up with.

The gameplay in the offline mode is pretty janky, so I never even bothered with the online play.

Pity that 2K doesn't give the attention to their basketball games as they do with their NHL & MLB games.

The best basketball sims were on SNES... back when MJ was "Player".

People need to shut up be grateful that we are getting a patch for a game that is only 20 bucks if 2k didn't have to get a patch for a game that was only 20 bucks and be grateful we have all the features xbox 360 has. It is a really good game with some issues there trying to figure out. So 2k gave us a good game plz be patient and wait...

grateful? for providing us fixes to obtain features (and this is assuming we get the patch which remember, they also claimed we would be getting the first patch, and then they claimed we would be getting a combination of the first two in the same timeframe the consoles got their second), that they advertised as part of the package such as online play? Patient? the game came out FIVE MONTHS AGO. How much more patient does one reasonable expect people to be?

Of course we'll wait, we have no option but to wait, but patience... that unfortunately has run its course.

[this is just my personal comment... thanks!] unbelievable! why do people complain about this great game? why? i've been playing NBA Live on PC since 99' and what we have right now is something more special and authentic in every way. c'mon guys, you have to be a real PC gamer and a basketball fanatic to understand how amazing this game is. forget about the patch I have no problems playing the game at home with my friends even if it's offline, it's the best basketball sim ever! you gotta have a good video card and a high end specs for your PC to really appreciate it, maybe that's why others complain because they haven't seen the real difference of the PC version compare to consoles. it's way better and the graphics is sick and steady frames per second no slow down. please don't hate me i'm just telling the truth... :) we have to appreciate the effort these people do to make a game like this that we can truly enjoy..... :)

You probably have not played the console version of this game.
Its way better than what you have on the pc.
Yep the pc looks better but the gameplay is crap no matter how you tweak the sliders.

Not to mention the online play that does not work at all.

NBA season is almost done yet no patch in sight.

@corleone2k - I have this game on PC and I play on max settings with my beast Mach V Quad SLI GTX 295 setup and was patiently waiting on a patch. I got tired of waiting and bought the game on my 360. The difference in gameplay is night and day. The 360 version is superior compared to PC. The graphics do look sick on my PC but I'll pick better gameplay anyday. I'm still crossing my fingers for a PC patch though.

PC??

The game is utterly broken on (Xbox 360)...So dont feel bad.
BROKEN i tell you! Just try creating a "My Player" toon and playing it for hours on end to get skill points and better attributes only to then create team to play with friends who have done the same thing. The end result? Player constantly getting kicked back to the Lobby/Lockeroom when match is about to start.

Tried to give (My Player)Team Play a chance several times, and have given up along with the admittedly addictive My Player Mode. Whats the point if its so broken? There isn't rather play other multiplayer games.

EA is most likely going to buy out 2K, its just a matter of time.

This is the worst game I've ever played.
I've always stayed away from PC basketball games, but decided, it's been 10 years since 2K and any bug should be way ironed out by now.
And kobe is on the cover. No way would kobe soil his name.
$20, can't lose. right?
Even went and bought a logitech gamepad.

Installed, and it was crap.
Never again will I go back to a PC sports game. pitiful.
2K Sports has lost it. Their recent MLB game got 7s. ouch!
Their poor rival MLB The Show came back from the gutters and got 9s.
Looks like all the good developers and management left 2K.
