If you're anything like us, you simply weren't impressed enough by the already overabundant amount of content available in Dragon Age: Origins. No sir! You wanted -- nay! -- demanded more content. Luckily for you, you immovable demander, EA is offering a deal in its online store for the first Dragon Age expansion where pre-orders of the new content can snag the original game on PC for 40 percent off its normal $50 asking price (now just under $30).
That means you could get both Awakening and the game it's based on for a combined $70 -- just $10 more than the Game of the Year edition that's sure to come out in a year's time! It's like an early reward for being hesitant ... almost like you paused the action and arranged the tactics ahead of time. Is there something we should know? Hmmm?

I see no reason for them not to release the expansion packs. They've already released the base game, they've already worked with Cider, it would be easy money. I have no idea about DLC though.
With the Sims 3 at least, you install DLC (and user made content) by double clicking on a .Sims3Pack file that TS3 can install. Depending on the way they create DLC for DA:O that might not work.

I might be becoming a broken record, but please EA, could we have a confirmation that you'll eventually bring the rest of Dragon age to mac, so those of us who supported your very strange port can know that they didn't pay $70 only to have their experience be permanently limited?

Was it done with Cider like The Sims 3? They've released all three games so far dual Mac and PC, and all the downloadable content is usable on the Mac version. I see no reason for them not to make money off Mac users as well, especially when they already have the game there.

Apparently it *was* done with Cider. Or at least that is what the most indisputable wikipedia says.
So does that mean that the expansion and future DLC is automatically compatible?

I like what EA and Bioware are doing with DLC and such but promotions like this always seem to unintentionally sting the most fanatical customers who buy the product when it hits shelves.
Oh you bought our new PS720? Awesome!
Now for those who didn't buy it get it now for 50$ less with 2 free games!

If early adopters were really fanatical they wouldn't complain about buying early. They'd be proud of it. Proud of supporting the devs they cherish instead of complaining about how they didn't get it cheaper or for free.
It's not like this is new or anything. It's like complaining that I bought Oblivion new but now it's $7 at newegg. I mean, come on, once sales ebb discounts ensue. It only helps everyone.

new 1986 Honda Civic now cost much less?
new Intel Pentium 2 computer on 1998 now cost much less?
new 24" CRT TV on 1994 now cost much less?
...
if you want something that maintain its value, don't invest in electronic goods ><

That's the price you pay for being an early adopter.

Yeah Cozmic except the honda civic circa 86 costs less because of innovation in the industry and the new 2010 honda civic being on the market.
The PS720 in my example does not have a PS1080 sitting next to it. It is the same PS720.
I also was not "complaining" just making a statement.
I would appreciate if once, the early adopters got the most perks.
Game companies would appreciate more day 1 or first week sales numbers.
Sounds like a match made in heaven.
So calm down a bit and maybe point out to me where I was "complaining" or whining or whatever other negative connotation you can spin my comment into.
