Might be worth it... Does EA still use SecuROM on their retail releases?

Nevermind. EA Digital Download only. Eww. Not only do they use SecuROM, you can no longer redownload your game after a year. I think I'll hold out for GOTY on Steam, thanks.

Not with BioWare games. Just a disc check!

Does EA still charge you an additional fee if you want to be able to download from the EA Store in a year or two?

It's a complete ripoff if the EA Store still works the way it did a while ago...

I'm pretty sure they still do it. Even if they didn't, they still only let you download your games five times, which is also terrible. If they're going to try and compete with Steam and Direct2Drive, shouldn't they actually, you know, compete?

I see no reason for them not to release the expansion packs. They've already released the base game, they've already worked with Cider, it would be easy money. I have no idea about DLC though.

With the Sims 3 at least, you install DLC (and user made content) by double clicking on a .Sims3Pack file that TS3 can install. Depending on the way they create DLC for DA:O that might not work.

I might be becoming a broken record, but please EA, could we have a confirmation that you'll eventually bring the rest of Dragon age to mac, so those of us who supported your very strange port can know that they didn't pay $70 only to have their experience be permanently limited?

Was it done with Cider like The Sims 3? They've released all three games so far dual Mac and PC, and all the downloadable content is usable on the Mac version. I see no reason for them not to make money off Mac users as well, especially when they already have the game there.

Apparently it *was* done with Cider. Or at least that is what the most indisputable wikipedia says.

So does that mean that the expansion and future DLC is automatically compatible?

No, they'll make no announcement, release it two weeks later, and wonder why people are annoyed and don't buy it.

I like what EA and Bioware are doing with DLC and such but promotions like this always seem to unintentionally sting the most fanatical customers who buy the product when it hits shelves.

Oh you bought our new PS720? Awesome!

Now for those who didn't buy it get it now for 50$ less with 2 free games!

It's always been the case with anything, you pay a premium to have it now. If you can wait then you'll almost always get it for less, sometimes with more content. If not, well, you had it in the beginning, and you're done before everyone else.

Oh, about the double post. In the future if it doesn't show up just refresh the page once or twice first. None of my comments here appeared until I did that. Engadget ate one of my comments completely today though, so something is up.

If early adopters were really fanatical they wouldn't complain about buying early. They'd be proud of it. Proud of supporting the devs they cherish instead of complaining about how they didn't get it cheaper or for free.

It's not like this is new or anything. It's like complaining that I bought Oblivion new but now it's $7 at newegg. I mean, come on, once sales ebb discounts ensue. It only helps everyone.

new 1986 Honda Civic now cost much less?

new Intel Pentium 2 computer on 1998 now cost much less?

new 24" CRT TV on 1994 now cost much less?

...

if you want something that maintain its value, don't invest in electronic goods ><

That's the price you pay for being an early adopter.

I hope they put in some autopause options like were in Baldurs Gate. Especally pause when party member is hit/health is under 25% and pause when target is gone. (or better yet ;put it in the nifty tactics menu)

Yeah Cozmic except the honda civic circa 86 costs less because of innovation in the industry and the new 2010 honda civic being on the market.

The PS720 in my example does not have a PS1080 sitting next to it. It is the same PS720.

I also was not "complaining" just making a statement.

I would appreciate if once, the early adopters got the most perks.

Game companies would appreciate more day 1 or first week sales numbers.

Sounds like a match made in heaven.

So calm down a bit and maybe point out to me where I was "complaining" or whining or whatever other negative connotation you can spin my comment into.
