She is my fav bassist right now.

I find the fact that her bass is 3/4 her size to be hilarious.

I do think I'll be getting the Silversun Pickups stuff. I hope we'll get more tracks from them in the not too distant future.

I will continue to buy everything they release TWICE OVER.

Ah, I'm realizing that might be redundant.

Still, though.

Love the SSPU tracks we got. Now I'm hoping we get more. Top three currently being "Comeback Kid", "Dream at Tempo 119", and "Catch and Release". But any SSPU songs will do.

I agree that we need Rusted Wheel, the bass on that song is crazy. Also, All the Go Inbetweens off of Pikul would be great. Really, SSPU just need to put their discography on RBN.

Blech. Swoon was the most disappointing album of last year. There was plenty better SSP they could have picked from without having to touch anything from it. Common Reactor and Three Seed would have been my choices.

Glad to see more Mother hips at least, shame White Falcon Fuzz is limited in release... Such a fantastic song.

I disagree.
Carnavas was great, but I thought Swoon was even better.

While everyone is entitled to their opinion and while I agree when I first heard swoon I was a little...surprised.

But, after listening to it more and more I understand now that, to me at least, it is a LOT better of an album in terms of different styles, tempos, instrumentations and overall better in a music sense. Now, you may prefer the style of the EP and the first album more, that's fine, but there is a lot more variation in this album and, as a budding music theorist, I appreciate that more.

Sort of reminds me of the "departure" in the last The Living End album or the NIN change from DS -> Fragile. Same band, similar style, just different and trying out new things.

I definitely don't hate Swoon, I've certainly warmed up to it since I enthusiastically wrenched it open on launch day and listened to it, I was just very disappointed by it (especially lyrically). Of all the bands I love who released albums last year, I was most disheartened by the change in SSPU's (though looking back, perhaps Muse's The Resistance should have taken the crown).

I will say this, I won't be disappointed if they run with the direction they took with swoon. I definitely prefer Pikul and Carnavas, but if they can build on and work more on the style they went with in Swoon, I'll be all for it.

I'm just beginning to get into the Silversun Pickups. They're very refreshing to hear after a decade of nearly no great new bands. I'll be seeing them open for Muse in Chicago next month so needless to say I have an erection

Dude, there were so many great bands out this decade...where the hell were you? Here's 10 off the top of my head to start you off.

!!!, Mew, Queens of the Stone Age, Broken Social Scene, Cut/Copy, LCD Soundsystem, BRMC, The Helio Sequence, Doves, TV on the Radio.

Also Nada Surf (technically started in the 90's, but made a successful comeback this decade.)

Some of those are good bands, but it's just his opinion and that's all it boils down to. You can't really list bands that you like and expect him to change his mind. Know what I mean, Vern?

It's just another case of "can't complain that there aren't good bands if you're too lazy to look for them."

Silversun Pickups are great, but seeing they've been mainstream accessible (had an album or EP out) for five years now, you're bound to miss out on the good stuff if you wait so long before even 'beginning' to discover talent.

Don't get me wrong. I just feel there's been a decline in good, prevalent music since the 90s. There is great stuff out there but it rarely gets appreciated. I happen to love Mischief Brew, Matt Costa, Ryan Harvey and Heathers to name a few.

Still, overall, we're in a creative slump. I wonder how music can progress from here and I see them as a band that can satisfy tastes of both the status quo and music snobs (like myself) and move music forward.

@ Wolk - So you didn't like Black Holes and Revelations, or just that song? Thought it was a great album personally, but I'll agree on The Resistance for the most part. Wouldn't call it trash, but it was just way too formulaic for them . . . Very BritPop.

@Granger

Wow massive brain lapse there for me. Meant Blackholes and Revelations not super massive black hole, sorry.

Didn't like the whole album. There were maybe 1 or 2 songs that I thought were ok, but just seemed like they went to dance/pop (which to me translates to tossing out anything remotely challenging musically) with a sprinkle of "The Final Countdown" by Europe thrown into the mix.

Origin of Symmetry and Absolution were great albums though. It's as if someone waved money in front of them and said "play this type of music"....oh wait, I might be on to something

Why wouldn't it? It's the biggest music game franchise. And the songs they add to the game every week are for the most part, awesome.

Just because of the support the series still gets from the devs after 3 years, it is worthy of its own article, every single week. (Yup, all the songs still work with the orignal Rock Band).

"With such variety, there's sure to be something that people will love"

There's only 3 bands, one's a butt-rock nu-metal joke. The other is a HMX band that I don't care for. Silversun Pickups are okay, but I don't care enough to buy any of their songs, or even pirate their albums.
