If you were to ask us what to expect from most fast food joints, we'd probably tell you to look inside your garbage can and basically expect that -- but, y'know, inside of your stomach. We don't know; it's all the same pre-processed, assembly line garbage to us and we manage to successfully avoid it for the most part. But the Mega64 dudes instead find themselves in an almost perpetual, Groundhog Day-like loop when it comes to one particular establishment: Sonic.
Even though each trip usually makes the guys wish they never went in the first place, the thought of returning oddly enough fills them with hope that things will be different each and every time, only to suffer the grim realization again. It's such a departure for Mega64, but we can't help but feel like there's some kind of correlation to a current gaming news item in here -- so we thought we'd post this to see what you all think they're talking about. I've never thought of this site as a blog hey, never. In fact after being here a couple of years, i THEN found out it even WAS a blog. I've always considered it a gaming news website.
Ahh, I remember the days of getting up at 3AM so I could open at Sonic.
Good times.
And the food is pretty good, actually. Maybe it's living in Kansas, and I don't have the benefit of being able to go to the more celebrated burger establishments from around the country, but.. considering what we have to choose from here, Sonic is just about at the top of the quality/taste meter.
And since I used to actually make the stuff, I 'know' it's quality stuff, at least.
The Sonic down the road from where I work is the best fast food I've ever had (even better than a lot of the local family restaurants). Fluffy buns, fresh produce, well-cooked meat, that place will likely be the death of me, but it will be a delicious demise.
Conversely, the one down the road from where I live is the worst. The food is served cold, and everything would be flavorless if not for the mustard.
i'm from the east coast (my house is actually like a 5-10 minute drive from where the original Five Guys opened), but i've been to Sonic a few times. i thought it was pretty good, for fast food.
Wait.....I thought Sonics onion rings are pretty good, in moderation.....Their grilled chicken sandwich is the bees knees, and who doesn't love rolling a solid jalapeno burger? AMIRIGHT???
Oh...wait....ha....they are talking about the video game franchise that totally blows, aren't they?
I mean this in the least offensively way possible...both comments you posted here you referred to things as "the bee's knees." I am aware of the meaning of that term, but where are you from that people still say that? I thought that particular slang term died out in the 1920's. Maybe it's making a comeback?
Seriously, no offense meant. It just piqued my interest that you used that term twice in the same thread.
So, who is the Mario of the music world? You know, that one band that is constantly doing completely different genres, doing compilation albums, and frequently releasing the exact same album over and over again to critical acclaim?
I thought it was more a reference to how unreleasable both fanbases are... you have fans crying over Sonic 4 because the running animation isn't right, and Weezer fans that think every album besides Blue and Pinkerton (and maybe Green and Make Believe, depending on who you ask) suck. (I personally like the 4 I mentioned and Red, myself... Raditude sounds like complete crap from the samples I heard, though.)
