Even though each trip usually makes the guys wish they never went in the first place, the thought of returning oddly enough fills them with hope that things will be different each and every time, only to suffer the grim realization again. It's such a departure for Mega64, but we can't help but feel like there's some kind of correlation to a current gaming news item in here -- so we thought we'd post this to see what you all think they're talking about. While we think on it, head past the break and check out the video.
Mega64 explains the appeal and letdown of Sonic ... the restaurant

If you were to ask us what to expect from most fast food joints, we'd probably tell you to look inside your garbage can and basically expect that -- but, y'know, inside of your stomach. We don't know; it's all the same pre-processed, assembly line garbage to us and we manage to successfully avoid it for the most part. But the Mega64 dudes instead find themselves in an almost perpetual, Groundhog Day-like loop when it comes to one particular establishment: Sonic.

When I was a kid I used to love Sonic, but nowadays it's gotten so much bad press that I only consider renting their burgers from FoodFly.
After it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, I promptly regurgitate it, send it back, and rent some high quality tuna and chicken breast a la Bayonetta instead.

Five Guys is like 10 times more expensive than Sonic and is thus not comparable.

I actually like Sonic, one of my favorite fast food joints. Probably the only places I like better are Jack in the Box and Culver's. I seriously never had an issue with the food at Sonic. :S

Since Sonic Corp. removed the Chili Pie from the menus, it hasn't been the same. I enjoyed mine w/ onion, mustard, and jala.

I wouldn't be let down if they released a HD version of Sonic CD. It's a game a lot of people haven't played, but is of excellent quality, and really innovates on the Sonic formula with the good/bad future/past aspect. Plus there's an epic race against Metal Sonic, and some excellent bosses that haven't been matched since.

Only losers actually go to sonic for the food -- The only things that are good are the chili dogs and the breakfast items. The slushes, limeades, other drinks, and ice are the best, however.

Anyway, Sonic is all right. Their burgers are just above McDonald's quality, but their menu is fine for the most part (and their drinks are of course excellent). I'd never go there for actual food if In-n-Out or Carl's Jr. were an option, though.

It is a letdown! I went there with huge expectations, and it was awful. Their famous onions where super oily, and cold. I did like the bubblegum cooler.

Not all restaurants/fastfood stops are the same.
...there's an In-N-Out by my place, which is overall good but rather slow in service.
...there's an In-N-Out in Burbank, which is tastier when there's a longer line (it seems speeding up the workers makes the products better in that one).
...then there's the one by my gf's house.... it is.... very.... lacking.
The patties there are somewhat grey, though fresh. I have no idea how that happens. The fries are good though.

(My message isn't going through, I hope this makes it through)
Come to Southern California and have one down here (in a busy shopping area is best). In-N-Outs used to be restricted to just California, but it was finally spread after some court-thing.
Ours are the best. Always best to have the burgers from where they originated from.

@soshikitai I agree, I have had one in Cali and it is in fact better than the slc in n outs....altitude is the main difference, same recipe and cooking times, but they are slightly more well done here because of the air pressure....
fun fact: KFC originated in a suburb of Salt Lake City and has spread throughout the world....it tastes the same everywhere...like regurgitated cat piss flavored chicken. Yep. I said it. Sorry,
