@Ballistic H yeah, the zune had the same module in it that was responsible for this fault.

Yeah, the Zune had a clock issue as well.

Xbox Live also went down for a couple of days back in 2009.

Yeah, the Zune had a leap year issue, but the problem didn't occur until the end of the year. The firmware expect 365 days in the year, but the leap year had 366 so on December 31st everyone's Zunes freaked out (just in time for the New Year's Eve party).

But seriously, I'm really happy for this problem to resolve for the people who were experiencing this painful bug.

Y'know, just for the record it was never UNsafe to turn on your PS3s through this whole mess it was just that people kept freaking out over trophies disappearing when they tried to play their games despite the inability to connect to the network.

It seems that the PS3's internal clock thought it was a leap year... Or the Origami Killer freaked the PS3 out and wanted to kill the users Heavy Rain trophies and stop them from figuring out who he was.
Cause you go to the PS Blog and see there are about 500 complaints talking bout playing Heavy Rain and their Heavy Rain trophies disappearing XD(which sucks for the people that completely lost them >.>)

I lost 3 days worth of progress in Uncharted 2 as well as half my trophies for the game. Not a terrible problem, and I'm at least glad that I didn't have trophies forever unlockable. Still, we got a free game on XBL for less, so I think it'd be unclassy of Sony to play it off like they fixed it (when instead the inexorable march of time was all it took) and leave it at that.

A few of us managed to survive as the rest of humanity perished.

But as we look upon the shattered remains of society we can only ask; at what price? AT WHAT PRICE??

hmmm mine seems to freeze any time I go to one of my friends Player ID cards. also the two games I tried both have corrupted save data, and it restarted my PS3 on it's own while booting up those two games. (heavy rain and motorstorm pacific rift.)

thanks sony...it's not like pacific rift is ridiculously hard or anything....

Well didn't a whole bunch of 360 users go crazy when live was down over the Christmas holiday or something like that? Weren't people asking for compensation and what not? I'd say it's about the same for ps3 users, just less asking for compensation.

Not quite the same. It's one thing for the network to go down. It's another to gimp the entire system from playing games with Trophies.

Anyway glad it's back up.
