So the older ps3 recognized the year 2010 as a leap year. I would say an idiot programmer, or a computer glitch.So it righted itself when it hit around 6-7pm eastern. All I wanna know is whats going to happen in 2012 during an actual leap year. I know, I know 2 years away, but you hear alot about how 2012 is going to be a bad year. LOL

Nothing is going to happen in 2012 (except for that Mayan thing), just like there was no outage in 2008. Feb 29, 2014 on the other hand is pretty much a guranteed turn of your fat PS3 day unless a real fix gets issued.

I usually wouldn't care too much but I only have 3 Heavy Rain trophies, now. Just lovely.

I've been reading that if you sync your trophies, play the game, and sync them again all your trophies should come back.

Don't worry dude... this whole thing was waaaaaaayy less serious than RROD.

Good to be on PS3... where things fix themselves after a day.

1) Boot the game where you had the trophies. It will re-create the trophy data but it will be blank.
2) Open your own user profile on PSN, it will synch your trophy data with the one found on the PS server.
3)Go back to your trophy collection, you should have your trophies back :)

BOOL isLeapYear(int YEAR) {
if(YEAR % 4 == 0) { return true; }
else {return false;}
}

How hard is that?

well, it's not just that.... all years divisible by 100 is also divisible by 4, BUT they are NOT leap years, but again if they are also divisible by 400 then they are leap years :P

if year modulo 400 is 0
then is_leap_year
else if year modulo 100 is 0
then not_leap_year
else if year modulo 4 is 0
then is_leap_year
else
not_leap_year

well.... still not that hard I guess :P

I'm glad most of my games work again but the game I was playing at the time this happened (KillZone 2) locks up when i try to load it. Grrrrrr.....tried erasing save and update data but when i tried to reinstall to version KZ2 version 1.29 it just installs and then repeats the install over and over again. GRRR.......

If anyone can help i would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Switters

Well looks like I'm back up and running. I have all my trophy data, though I did lose the trophies I got for Heavy Rain on Saturday (when the "error" occured), so I lost about 5 hours of time, but I supposed it could've been worse. Still, I'm a little let down. Not looking forward to going after those trophies again.

At least my PS3 still works. And has been for over 2 years.

Well, I have a PS3 Phat (80Gb, bought it on June 2009) and had no problems at all, online or offline. The system date updated correctly to 03/01 and I was able to log into PSN, download games and play normally during all this "outage". Weird, I know.

Sony did not resolve this issue; they simply waited for the date to change.

The fact resolution occurred with out the impacted PS3’s receiving an update of any kind and that the issue was resolved when the GMT clock turned over to March 2, 2010, supports the theory that Sony took a path of inaction rather than resolution.

I find it completely unacceptable they allowed most of their customer base to endure this outage. Sony waited this out rather than take action to resolve the issue. I believe Sony was aware this would be a problem and had a plan of not addressing it. Sony should be held accountable for allowing a known defect to manifest itself in a 24 hour outage for millions of their loyal customers.

Cry me a river dude. There wasn't anything Sony could have done on such a short term. If you really think they weren't doing anything to get to the bottom of this you're an idiot. But when you learn something about responsibility in the future you might think before you post.

"Q. Do I have to download a firmware update?

A. Nope. The problem should just fix itself automatically, whether you're online or not."

Errr, obviously no bugs were fixed. Sony just waited until the leap time has passed, and then tell people it's fine. Weak sauce! What will happen next year?

Um I checked the back of my disc and there are no scratches. And how would I go about "resetting" the game? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Oh and I know it isn't related to the downtime since I stopped playing it and turned my PS3 off right before it happened

PSN was never down since slim owners could access it so service didn't need to be restored.
