You can still go online with your ps3! The "system update" feature and ps3 web browser still works. You don't need a psn connection to update your ps3, just an active internet connection.

Well I bought one of my PS3's off eBay as a repair for a 40gig system. So it has no warranty. I opened it up and removed the battery on the motherboard. Waited 10 seconds replaced it and then assembled it again. Problem gone. Everything works fine now. But i have another fat PS3 that still has warranty so I'm not going to open that one. I'll wait to see if Sony can actually fix it or not through updated firmware.

I'm interested in seeing how they resolve this. More specifically, I'm interested in the statement that Sony will be forced to make once they figure it out.

here is the fix. For people that know how to take apart your ps3. open it up and remove battery . wait a second plug back in and BAM fixes problem. I read it on a youtube comment/. thought it was a joke until i tried it out ,

Why would we really want to have to take apart our PS3 to remove the battery? I miss playing games but it seems like so much more trouble than it's worth.

u dont need to do that pal. just turn off the internet modem, set the hour manually without ur internet be activate (no via PS3 setting it doesn't work) and boot up ur internet modem and u can easily sign it into the PSN without a problem. The PS3 still is working fine (hourly speaking as usual) after be off and be on again after some test. it's more a programming error and easily to fix without to open up ur console xD

Heavy Rain is not really a game. You don't play it so much as follow onscreen prompts that don't really correlate well with what you're doing. The graphics and animation are really bad. The writing is made-for-TV-movie quality. Nerds love it because they have no taste. Press X to call Jason. This is the future. This is gameplay. Gaming journalism.

Your post has nothing to do with this problem.

I know, trolling is difficult to master. You'll get it eventually.

Sonys fix will be to simply drop support for the "older non slim" system.

It'll be funny if PSN crashes when millions of users all turn on their PS3s at midnight UTC

Mine is fixed. Switched it on today and it immediately connected to PSN. Clock said 29th April 2020. I set the time away from manual (I tried that last night), and back to Internet, and it found the correct time. Logged on to PSN store - no probs, logged on to Demon Souls, and my trophies synced and game loaded :)

3:22 p.m. PST my 60GB just came out of its coma as well. Set time via Internet, MvC2 remembered that it's not a demo anymore.

Whoo!

Guys try this i have a "phat"ps3 manufactured aug 2007 and this is what i did step by step lemme know if it works for u. this is exactly what i did maybe some steps can be ignored im just telling you what i did step by step to sign in to psn

1. set the time and date manually then turn off

2. turn on then set the time and date via internet, then turn off

3. turn on then sign in and voila and signed in again, try it see if it work for u guys

Can anyone test this workaround further, but it worked for my PS3 hope this helps

If you JUST tried it, it worked because the problem has fixed itself and nothing you did mattered.

whats likely to happen if you turned on the ps3, changed the date back to normal and then turn it back off again?

That's exactly what I did. My only thing is it has my heavy rain saved data from yesterday, just not my trophies. But everything seems to be working fine
