Bookie suspects Uncharted 2 has highest odds of success at BAFTAs

British bookmaker Victor Chandler has a strange sense of what things people should be betting on. For instance, we never would have thought that high-stakes wagering would ever find its way into the British Academy of Film and Television Awards. Yet somehow, gambling on the BAFTAs has becoming a thing, leading Chandler to tally up the odds for each of the awards show's categories.

Perhaps a bit unsurprisingly, Chandler's calculations place Uncharted 2: Among Thieves in front of the video game category -- the only award chosen by a public poll -- with odds of 6/4. Modern Warfare 2 falls slightly behind that with 9/4 odds. Check out the full breakdown of nominee's odds to take home the prize after the jump. We went ahead and split our life savings evenly among the ten contenders, guaranteeing us a victory when the BAFTAs are distributed March 19. Man, we're so good at gambling.

These odds make me realize one thing: If you are placing bets on the BAFTAs its time to check into getting into a GA meeting.

Assassins Creed 2 truely deserves every award. The game was phenomenal in every aspect.

Look Dark Wayne, I get that it's a silhouette and all, but I'm rather disappointed to learn that Batman's identity is really some joe sixpack named Jay. Yeesh, talk about letdowns.

Come on Markez, there's only one Wayne in town. It's not that hard to figure out.

I'm totally rooting for Batman: Arkham Asylum. That was, for me, the best game of '09. The story, graphics, gameplay, dialogue/voice-acting, and atmosphere are all top notch. Everything about that game screamed near-perfection. I wouldn't be surprised if Uncharted 2 sweapt the awards like it has every other awards ceremony.

I agree completely. New IP, yet still a perfect game. Even Uncharted 2 had one too many "jump and I'll grab your hand as you hang over this abyss moments" where I groaned a little, but AA was great through and through (though I guess the Joker fight was a little odd, my only complaint).

That's like saying "WW2 shooter - new IP?" or "Fantasy game - new IP?" I think you can only count the history of Batman games as a genre, not as a connected series of games. AA obviously carved out a completely new place in gaming history world, despite being based on something that came before it. I still count Dante's Inferno as a new IP even though the source material has been around for centuries too.

IP = Intellectual Property. New IP isn't just "an original game".

Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2 should be up there instead of Wii Sports Resort.

No, but Dragon Age, Borderlands, Brutal Legend, ODST, L4D2, House of the Dead overkill, Infamous, KZ2, Ratchet and Clank, Shadow Complex, WET and Dawn of War 2 did, to name a few much more deserving than Sports Resort

what do casuals have to do with this? "Casuals" are by your definition also unlikely to play UC2, AC2, or Arkham Asylum either. This is pretty obvious considering your previous post history as well that you're just a troll trying to make a name for himself by acting like you're either Tmac or his pal.
