Her voice isn't bad at all! I was expecting horrible things from all the previews I read about her voice.

I was expecting them to do the typical JP thing and give her the voice of a 12 year old. Like Fay Valentine.

@AO: What?

(a) Faye Valentine's voice (Megumi, right?) is awesome, and she certainly doesn't sound like she's 12.

(b) This is the English-language voice, not Japanese... (Is there a Japanese language for this or is it always English?)

The voice is okay. Script... meh.

This. From what Rawmeat Cowboy from Gonintendo was saying, you'd think the VAs would be horrendous. Then again, he also did say that she was the best VA in the entire game.

Rei Ayanami has the voice of a FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD. An emotionally stunted 14-year-old. BIG difference.

(BTW, not bashing Rei or any of the voice actresses who voice her, but weeaboos getting uptight about their precious Hayashibara tends to be amusing)

you obviously have never played any metroid game if you didn't no that

or never played SSBB

both of which is blasphemous, you are now under gaming arrest and may not comment on any gaming site or play any games until you have completed a metroid game.

you should be ashamed of yourself.

This is not what I expect out of Metroid... This was WAY to anime-ish(I doubt the future will be completly Japanese). Samus blows shit up and kills aliens... Please Nintendo... Don't ruin the greatness you had going for you for so long, change isn't always good.

Don't be so conservative when it comes to gaming.

After Super Metroid we had 2 other games (Fusion, Zero Mission) that copied that formula and only tweaked things.

After Prime we got 2 other games (Echoes, Corruption) that copied that formula and only tweaked things.

I don't want this franchise to stagnate This is the next big step to evolve the franchise.

What Adv? Turning Samus into a little child? Some overly happy anime chick? A female that behaves like a female? No. Samus is a ruthless bounty hunter who exists for profit and makes aliens go kaboom. Gameplay can be changed yes, but Metroid itself is not Metroid if it does not have destruction of aliens, arm cannons, and most importantly- METROIDS!
I am not being overly conservative... I'm just saying that the core idea of Metroid should not change. It's like making Santa Clause the new Easter Bunny- IT DOESN'T WORK!

They did give her really shiny hair though. Kind of surprised Aerosmith's Dream On wasn't playing in the background.

Copious amounts of shiny haired persons: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkhIpd2pQCY#t=0m21s

This is younger Samus, though, a flashback. They didn't "change" her per se, because it's not the Samus used for the actual game.

I've seen enough anime online to know that the Japanese don't restrict busty chests and minimal clothing to girls over the age of 15.

.....I'm not a pedo.

That's actually why I don't like watching anime around none fans. It tends to get me odd looks when something like this (http://kojioe.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/negima.jpg) pops on.

Buying manga is even more awkward though...

Ya I saw the original trailer and I want more of that, not this... hard to comprehend?

There is no need for this drama in the game, it wasn't needed in the past and isn't now.

Meh, the story in Fusion would have been much better with a twist. Say the "suit" you hunt through the game is actually the real Samus and "you're" just a sentient alien suit that thinks you're the real Samus. That would have been awesome.

I'm really glad all the fanboy reviewers kept reporting that the story and voice acting was horrible to keep my expectations low, because there was nothing wrong with it from what I saw in the video.

I guess everyone wanted Samus to be some super happy ditzy blond.

While I always found the "lady" to be somewhat awkward of a nickname, the AI character itself and the story was decent. Fletcher's apparently one of those types who likes to project their opinions onto "what everyone thinks".

Heavens, no. Fusion is easily my favorite in the entire series. I've been waiting for them to delve into Adam's backstory for ages. Now if only they'd give us Metroid 5 as well...

Looks interesting. It's unusual to see so much story telling in a Wii game. Even Metroid Prime 3 was kind of bare bones compared to most FPS games on other consoles. Nice to see Wii getting some TLC. I hope the gameplay gets as much attention as the story.
