Seems like the main character has a severe case of small head to body ratio that is so common these days. Also i really thought this game would look better, the environments are very uninspired.

You would think that by now, Konami would have figured out that people who love Castlevania, love 2D Castlevania.
Hint: Thats why all those DS games sell truckloads, and the 3-D ones not so much.
Just give me a gorgeous 2D HiDef take on the MetroidVania formula and lets call it a day.

That's because all of the 2D games have been good, and all of the 3D games have been garbage.
We just need a 'good' 3D game to break the trend.

I still feel the first DMC was the closest to a 3D Castlevania.

God of the Rings seems a little more appropriate.

I agree that some of the design of many of the enemies is decidedly LotR-inspired, but as long as there are hordes of zombies, bats, ghosts, witches etc... as well as what we've seen so far, I'll have nothing to complain about! An amazing 3D Castlevania MUST be possible, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one. But if Kojima can't do it, I don't know if anyone can... if this doesn't pan out then they really should go for more of a 2.5D aesthetic.

Exactly how involved is Kojima in this project?

Who knows... from what I've read he's just "overseeing" the project, which could mean just about anything. But the fact of the matter is he's willing to have his name involved with the project, and I'd bet he wouldn't do that if he didn't think it'd be a good game in the end.

There's an apostrophe in guy's... you just can't see it cuz it's invisible.

The last Castlevania game I played was the one back on the N64 and it was decent enough, now I have to wonder if the gameplay in this one is all that similar to the classic N64 one?
Posted: Mar 2nd 2010 5:35PM armageddon said
Well the only other Castlevania game I tried as a 2.5D one on Xbox and that one was Garbage, the N64 one was good enough to get me to try the Xbox which turned me off the rest.

Hmmm, this game looks really good. It's lead system is the PS3. Wonder if the 360 port will look as good.
After seeing the diff in FF13 idk....

Ya know, Kotaku had this same information earlier today or late last night, but unlike y'all at Joystick they felt the need to make the most absurd comparisons and claims about other games with it.
So, thank you for not being stupid and taking something that's been a part of the Castlevania franchise since... forever... and saying it's a copy of some brand new IP. [apparently Dantes Inferno invented saving a damsel and using a cross as a weapon :|]

That kind of neutrality is why I choose Joystiq over Kotaku. I don't even care if I miss a portion of "news" out there from Kotaku. The constant flame-baiting is really tiresome.

@futurebiblehero: Not sure how I reply to replies... the little button isn't there. It's just ridiculous that they can't post news without biased crap in it. A lot of the users are pretty annoying there too, which is a shame because there are some really good ones as well.

I usually just reply to my original comment and @[user] it. As far as Kotaku goes, I hate to say it, but it used to be a lot better. Like 3 or 4 years ago, the commenting was a lot tighter controlled, you actually had to "audition" to be able to comment, and so you had a group of people that could actually talk without the baiting. These days, is disenvowel this, random comments that.

@(01): Thanks for the replying tip. =]
I've only been going to Kotaku for the last year or so and it was great at first, but now... it just seems far too biased and like they want to just please the readers - instead of just giving us news. I don't like trendy news. =\
