How about the "Dildo with the Light On It"! Because that's what it looks like, call it "Dil-glow"! Nah, not as good for marketing.

I never really had a problem with 'Playstation Motion Controller'.

Though I did like 'Gem' as well..

Can't wait to see what they do with this.

Gem brought to mind my sisters watching Jem and the Rockers or whatever back in the 90s on Saturday mornings or whenever it played...

Sony-motion controller on its 'designing phase' was a bit more exhilarating than this one. Before, it was called the 'orb', 'gem' and now an arc.. perhaps, next it'll be called as a magic stick.. First-concept: http://ping.fm/tesog

But I'm still crossing my fingers that they do change the design of the stick.

"Arc" isn't silly, at least, but it seems barely related to motion, if at all. Arc of motion . . . that's just not what people think of.

I bet almost no one calls it "Arc."

"Dad, where's the PS3 Arc?"

OR

"Dad, where's the PS3 controller?"

OR

"Dad, where's the PS3 penis?"

You can have an arc of a motion, or moving the controller when it's on could create an arc of light.

But yeah it isn't really a straightforward name choice.

I don't understand what Arc has to do with it. Is it because you make arcs waving your hands in the air?

The ball changes colors. But it's a camera-based tracking system for 1:1 motion, so yes, the ball has to stay.

I don't understand why these companies want to jump on the motion controller thing when honestly, in my mind, they still haven't done the best controller wise. I see this becoming more of a gimmick, and ending up like alot of bad Wii games.

Maybe. But I think Sony has the right idea by supporting current games with it. (RE5, LBP, Flower, etc.)

Yeah, i will give them that point, That they're at least supporting some of their big titles with it. And yeah, I'm sure alot of it is for the money too, It just worries me.

Example being, Developers are making a game. Sony wants them to implement this 'Arc'. They don't want to. Game quality suffers because of having to simultaneously develop the game for controller AND 'Arc'. I'm not saying it'll happen for sure, but i wouldn't rule out the possibility.

Don't get me wrong, I loved games like MadWorld on the Wii. And i've played a few others that are really good at using the Wiimote, But for that one game, there are dozens of bad ones that are just a pain to play with motion controls/Wiimote.

@ kamikit ok the Wii has very little power for game performance now imagine a fps with motion control based weapon and the whole concept changes "think out side the box"

I understand, but i already suck at using the controller for alot of Console FPs games as it is, so your point is valid but for me, it sounds even more difficult than already having to get used to a controller.

It's cool that you seem to have it down pretty well, But i've been on a PC almost all my life, and more specifically for almost all the FPS's i've played, so i suffer when i don't have a mouse and keyboard for movement and look.

I will admit, that, even though alot of people talk about how bad the controls on Killzone 2 and the MGS, I seemed to get those down quick, and i was pretty good with a controller in them, not the best, hut close to as good as i was with K&M

And I say MGS because it has the whole first person aim thing with its weapons. I never had any problems with the controls in it.

Only problem with 'PlayStation Motion Controller' is it's a bit of a mouthful. Still, a generic name like that is fine for a peripheral - it'd probably pick up a colloquial term like 'wand' for use in conversation on its own.

To be fair, Natal is just a codename. Microsoft usually uses names of actual places when references their projects. Hence the "Project Natal" nomenclature rather than a "Xbox Natal Doo-Hickey".
