Sledgehammer Games working on Call of Duty game

When Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey left Visceral Games to form Sledgehammer Games with Activision, you may have jokingly speculated that the Dead Space creators set to work immediately on Call of Duty. After all, it was either that or Guitar Hero.

You would have been correct.

Activision today revealed that Sledgehammer is working on a Call of Duty game with a targeted 2011 release date, which will "extend the franchise into the action-adventure genre." No other details were released about the game, but it sounds more like a spinoff than a sequel. Third person, perhaps?

I wonder if this has anything to do with the firings...

My guess however is that yea, this game by SG will be 2011, and the next IW product will be in 2012, the reason i say this, is because if new consoles are going to be announced and perhaps possibly even released around late 2012, I'm pretty sure its going to take more than 2 years of development time. Why not get your best group working on the future ahead of time and have your other groups make the inbetween stuff.

I wish I would have read about this prior to making my other comment about COD not being over saturated. Now my opinion has changed.

If there's multiple COD games released in the SAME year, then-- yeah, I think it will become over saturated. The once a year schedule right now, was perfect. If you do too much of a good thing too often, you very much have the potential to hurt the brand as a whole.

I think they should just make a whole game with zombies in it caz thats all i like to do in WaW. And do u know how many people would be playing that game if they did make one atleast a 100,000 i mean c'mon that game was a hit compared to spec ops caz spec ops suck!

If you want to shoot zombies, you should play Left 4 Dead or Resident Evil. CoD should be tactical 1st person.

You would think that Activision learned from Atari not to flood teh market with shitty games... now they're just pulling an Atari move.
