"Hey Boss, what should we do with this game?"
"Hmmm, good question. I know. Go to Google Images and copy the first picture you see of this game and slap it on the box. Put in two controllers and the game and BAM! Special Edition!"
"How about an HDMI cable?"
"Shut your mouth before I fire you!"

for $100 more than an elite you get more hard drive space, an extra controller, and the game, which would all probably run you $200-250 if done separately (estimated, since the 250GB HDD isn't out yet). it's not exactly useless artwork on your console, but that deal still sounds pretty special to me.

They could've at least made a custom theme to the console like MW2 or include something with it Splinter Cell themed. I'm not complaining about the SKU I'm just saying if your going to make one make it unique not just add in a game and a larger HDD..

Resident Evil 5 did get a red Xbox 360 bundle, don't remember there being anything different with it though (artwork, logos, etc on the console).

@Granger

All the Xbox 360 SKU's (excluding the recen few coming out soon) have some special theme around them...

Halo

RE5

CoD MW2

IMO the MW2 is the best special edition Xbox360 you can get right now...

I have to disagree. I've been waiting for a non-branded 250GB Elite. Sorry, but the black console fits in with the rest of my electronics much better than one with a bunch of branding on it. I had a plain ol' white 20GB launch unit for the longest time, but when I first heard rumors of this coming out, I traded it into GameStop in anticipation of this.

Yeah, the only real "Special" edition 360s so far was the Halo 3, which had a completely different look and the green controller. The MW2 edition had a different case, but the controllers were standard black. And the FF13 bundle is only special in that it comes with a larger hard drive and two controllers.

Here's hoping the Halo: Reach bundle is a true special edition along the lines for the original Halo 3 bundle.

250GB HDD, four controllers, HDMI cable, wireless networking adapter, year of Live, and a copy of the Uber Legendary Edition of Reach that comes with a Mark V helmet and a model of the Pillar of Autumn?

I think I'd pay...five hundred ninety nine dollars for that!

The FF13 also has a faceplate. Not that it makes it a deal breaker.

Getting two controllers, an HDD twice the size of an Elite's, and a GOOD game for only 100 dollars more is special enough for me.

Well, it already comes with one controller so you're just getting one extra, not two.

Still, a controller, SC:C, and double the HD size for 100 bucks is decent.

Were there always this many bundles or is this new to this generation? I don't remember there being this many game specific bundles. I guess it makes some business sense but, like baby sea tuna said above me, I feel like it kind of loses its specialness when so many games get their own bundles.

It came with an "N64 Transfer Pack" so (IIRC) you could play Pokemon Red/Green/Blue on the N64 via emulation.

I still find it humorous that Greenburg states there is no need to release the 250GB HDD stand alone. As somehow they magically know users are not filling their 120GB HDDs. Yet if a 250GB HDD is so unneeded amongst users....why release them in new SKUs? Such contradictory.

Please stop complaining about incredibly extortionate price of 360 peripherals. It's not going to change any time soon (if ever).

Instead, lean how to use HDDHackr & make yourself a 250GB HDD using a 2.5" Western Digital Bevs HDD.

A 250GB HDD for around £45 (must be even cheaper in the States) can't be beat.

# I'm really jealous of all those with Jtagged consoles, you guys are having loads of fun - 1.5TB HDD's & all : )

Cheapest way to upgrade your HDD is to sell your Xbox and just buy a new one (at least that's what I did):

Sold my (non-HDMI) 20 GB Pro for 150 € on eBay
Bought an Elite including "You're in the Movies" with camera for 201 €
Sold "You're in the Movies with Camera for 20 €

Voilá: 100 Gigs more Space, a brand new console with HDMI-out (and, in my case, the optical audio thing and a MS HDMI cable) including a fresh warranty for 31 €.

Actually, it's kinda sad that this is cheaper than just buying the damn HDD ...

I don't think you'll be taking a chance. That's microsofts baby, they'll probably do something good for that.

I'm hoping Sony does something for GT5, like those ferrari laptops from acer. but I don't see that happening at least not in america.

Let me guess, still only composite cables?

Microsoft, I want to upgrade my 20GB hard-drive, but you are not even selling your 120GB upgrade drive anymore. And you don't even allow me to copy stuff off my 20GB drive to an external drive. Really MS?

wish it had a design on it so that way this one would look good nevt to my MW2 console. plus hey who couldn't use an extra controller. sad part about this is that i already paid of the collecters edition of splinter cell, may have to trade in this standard one while buying this one . so $428.00 - 40.00 trade-in of game -$125.00 trade-in of third class 20gb console==$ 263.00 out of pocket not bad .maybe by april it will have a design.

These bundles are decent because the game is $59.99, and the controller is $49.99. You're also getting a 250GB that would probably sell for over $100 at retail.

In our perspective, it may not be a good thing. But to some die hard Splinter Cell fan still using an old console, they'll see this as a good bargain.

I would consider dropping in a 3 month xbox live membership, perhaps the collectors edition too.

Still not gonna bite, Microsoft. I'm sure this package will be attractive for those looking to buy their 2nd, 3rd, 4th 5th etc 360 though.

As much as I want to play the new Splinter Cell, I just won't do it. Here's to hoping for a PC or PS3 port down the road.

I was always ok just with a ps3 but this is the game that made me buy a 360 (but now enjoying Mass Effect, xbla titles, Forza and look forward to Alan Wake). But all I need is my Arcade with a cheap 20gb hdd off ebay, this is too much, and not really special at all.

For the love of pete, please just sell the damn hard drive already. It's not like 250 GB hard drives are rare.

How can a company be focused on digital downloads and being a media center, and yet make storage options scare? It's completely at cross purposes.

Stuff like this makes me really hate Microsoft.
