Blur arrives May 25 in the U.S., May 28 in Europe

With the Blur multiplayer beta going live on March 8, we're anxious to get some quality time with Bizarre Creations' upcoming racer. In the interim, the game's official blog details what players can expect from the beta, but perhaps more interesting is what's tucked at the bottom of the update: a release date of May 25. Europeans will have to wait a few extra days, as the game won't be in shops until May 28 over there.

While you wait, might we suggest you check out some new screens in our gallery below? That is, if you want to -- no pressure or anything!

This game seems really fun but I am not sure..

I think the only Arcade racer I'm willing to "buy" will be split-second. No matter how polished this game is it's nothing new. It's a been there done that game...

Ya im torn between split second and mod nation racer....

Looks fun. It's a much needed direction for the tired racing games currently out. I feel as though this game could have the same success as the Burnout games.

I want the game, but I want demo first. Like a legit, non-multiplayer, non-beta, demo. Like the good ole days. Maybe on a disc with a bunch of other demos. For nostalgia's sake.

I fully expect this to turn out like Shift. not bad, but not great. i'll keep Forza for now. and if GT5 gets great reviews (better than GT4) then i'll get that, i doubt this will be as good as either.

well when i say "reviews" i dont actually mean publication reviews (although i do trust a select few) what i mean is peer reviews, people i know personally that i know like the same kind of games that i do.

This generation has been particularly bad at the inherited excellent reviews. GTA4, MW2, and Halo are good examples. not that they are bad games, they just get better reviews because people expect them to get better reviews.

All three of those games are excellent and deserving of their reviews.

I don't even like Halo of Gta4 but still...they're excellent games that constantly raise the bar

So...a week after Split/Second? I'd consider Blur, but I think I'm holding an Activision embargo until things are sorted out. If it turns out they suck, I'm putting all my old Activision games on the used market...

Damn, what racing game on a freakin' NES didn't have a split screen, racing games nowadays never have split screen (besides Motorstorm 2 which sucked).

Motorstorm 2 ; there is nothing wrong with it.
A very polished game. The only downside, is the steep learning curve the later you get into the game.

They confirmed it to have splitscreen a while ago.

Beta tokens were sent to their recipient yesterday. A very fun game. It's like Need for Speed mixed with Mario Kart. Not sure if it's a day one purchase in my opinion, but I went from definitely not buying it, to seriously considering purchasing it after playing the beta.

The beta doesnt start till Monday. I smell bullshit. I got my code but you cant download till monday.

Ummmmm.... it started already, on Xbox anyway. I got my code Tuesday and redeemed on Xbox Live Tuesday. Do your research before you make such accusations. Says the beta begins Monday (this past Monday), but was delayed to Tuesday. http://kotaku.com/5481782/blur-xbox-360-beta-begins-monday

I got in the Beta early through Fileplanet. Its really fun. Ive come back from racing like a racer and combining that with powerups. Powerups are awesome at the end when you bolt someone and over take them! If you dont believe me being able to play it look me up on Xbox.com..

Well, in my opinion it sucked, can't stand this type of racing game.
Burnout Paradise FTW! (too bad it didn't do split screen).
