Is no one impressed by your massive stockpile of (relatively) ancient virtual cars in Test Drive Unlimited? It's almost time for you to pick up this year's model -- Atari recently announced that this coming Fall would see the release of Test Drive Unlimited 2 on PS3, 360 and PC. This sequel will offer the persistent, open-world multiplayer racing of its predecessor, while introducing new elements such as vehicle damage, day and night cycles, and weather.
The press release promises "the world's most desirable vehicles," but we all know the best part of Test Drive Unlimited was the fancy clothes you could buy for your character. We can't wait to see what exciting fashion lines TDU2 brings to the table.

That's a Gumpert Apollo, isn't it? Could've chosen a prettier car for the promo shot.

Yeah but the Veyron is too heavy. Though I wouldn't lie, I would take one in a heart beat.

Looks alright. Still looking for a GRID 2 release this year but this can probably hold me over.

I just hope they make this game work with the Microsoft wheel. In TD1, if you used the wheel, you couldn't look left or right while driving, and you couldn't navigate the map.

I hope they polish the collision system and driving a little more. If they can do that I wouldn't care if the graphics were exactly the same I'd buy the game day 1....

oh god YES! I loved TDU, this is a definite buy for me. I was very attracted by it's entirely open world and interacting with other players. Maybe I'll go back and take a long drive around the coast when I get home.

Wow, this was my favorite racing "Lifestyle" game when it came out. Alot of people didnt give it a chance but the concept was great. You buy your own home, create your character and it felt like you were really part of the world. I loved the little things like driving into your driveway to your house and buying different houses to store your car.
Things i noticed from the website:
1. Looks like there will be day/night time (Finally). One of the photos in the logo show a night time scene.
Anyone else notice anything else?

Yes yes yes!!! This is such great news, I loved the original so much! I am definitely picking up the second! I could not believe how perfectly they captured Hawaii!

Awesome. I have been waiting for this announcement so damn long. Hope its still set in hawaii or at least somewhere very similar (IE: no large buildings). And hope theres no jaggies on the consoles. This game along with Mirrors Edge are like the most calming, sendative games ever. Cruising thru the island, in the rain w/ my custom soundtrack cranked, is gonna be great. Next best thing to doing it in real life.

Sounds good. Test Drive Unlimited was a surprisingly fun racing game that I really enjoyed. I'm not really into racing games much anymore... I liked Forza 2 enough but didn't play it too much, but I really liked the simple pick up and play style of TDU, along with the lush environments and vast regions to explore. It was a fun and simple mix of sandbox and showoff... the built in leaderboards really added a lot to the game and I enjoyed it a lot.
I loved buying the houses, I really enjoyed that even though it was a silly addition to a racing game. TDU was a solid racer MMO that I really enjoyed.

I loved the original Test Drive Unlimited. It was such a great game, so I'm really glad to hear another one is being made, although it's been long rumored. I still remember it taking me FOREVER to explore the entire island, and although it was time consuming, I loved every minute of it. The buying clothes part-- not so much. But I did like the mix of cars, and handling of each, the ability for free form driving, exploring, racing, taking on jobs, and joining clubs.

I just dug a hole in my back yard out of excitement.
That's what I've really been waiting all these years, not a new GTA, not a new COD, which is using EA strategy of kicking a dead horse so it would resemble slightest movement, not Bioshock 2, which is Bioshock 1 with a big daddy mask.
I loved the first game and the freedom, well if you call driving around the island with no real point freedom, of the world, I would drive around in my car as well, if it only had gas in it... Which it hasn't seen for months now. Oh yes, I use public transport now, it's hell.
