I have played Halo 2 on the 360 and it doesnt look bad at all but it is kind of hard to convince my friends to dig out the disk from the back of their closets. Another disc with everything on it (plus Halo 1 maps) would make it easier to play live with friends.

Sanctuary is one of my favs as well, along with hang em high and blood gulch.

@Peter Moore (or Less): Obviously Joystiq hasn't changed. After all, they still let you post.

So if I play Halo 2 there is a chance I can get a code for the beta? I could give it to one of my friends.

Alright so I got the email and was wondering if you can play halo reach beta with the ODST disc, then why do you need the code that they are going to give us? Will we be able to download the beta using this code if we dont have the ODST disc? Also, we will get all of these things on April 15th then correct?

While I'm obviously not happy to see the Xbox 1 servers shutting down (I don't have close to 100 friends, so as a 360 owner I see no benefit to it), it has been a very long time. Last generation is largely over (unless you're still playing on PS2), and I'd be willing to guess there aren't too many people left playing Xbox 1 online. At the very least, those who are will have a nice incentive to pick up a 360 and upgrade.

In other words, this seems like a nice thing of Microsoft to do. Props to them.

So, on a whim, I played Halo 2 for about 15 minutes. This was just after they announced they would be shutting down the servers. This is the first time I'd played the game in about two years, and I was playing on the 360. I got one of those e-mails. Interesting.

I got the e-mail.

I played Halo 2 on Xbox 360 only, never had an original Xbox 1 Live account. When Halo 3 came out I still went back and played Halo 2 semi-often because from a competitive standpoint it's a better game. In the last few months I've been playing it a bit more regularly.

They also gave me a 3 month XBL extension and 400 MSP points. The wording about the Beta is:

" Finally, as the beta gets closer, you will receive an e-mail containing the code granting you access to the exclusive Halo: Reach Beta. "

Wonder if this means earlier access.

The 3 month has, they said I should get a message from them with the token for the 400, but that hasn't come through yet.

Hm. I've been playing halo 2 again a lot recently, since the announcement and haven't gotten this email (yet). I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Porting Halo 2 to XBLA would be a good idea. I'd probably rebuy it, especially if stats carried over. (reminds me... are halo 2 on PC stats separate? )

Okay...so am I the only one pissed about this? I assume that these perks are only going to those who are still playing Halo 2 on an Xbox 1.

The email says "Thank you for being a loyal Xbox Live member" and "Because you've been so loyal to Halo" to give them reason to hand out 400 microsoft points, 3 months of Gold, and participation in the Halo: Reach Beta. RIDICULOUS.

So Xbox 1 Halo 2 players are loyal to Halo? No, not me, it's not like I've bought an Xbox 360, Halo 3, and Halo 3 ODST of my OWN VOLITION without having to be f***ing bribed. I have a Halo Mountain Dew can on top of my shelf, a Halo sniper on a keychain in my car, a set of four Kubricks lego-type Spartans, the limited edition Halo 3 helmet which I got at Midnight on release day, Halo Wars limited edition, 4 novels, and limited edition Halo 2 and Halo 3 mic/headsets. And that's just the stuff I can see from where I'm sitting.

But am I a loyal to Halo? No no no...not me. It's the guy who couldn't spring for a 360 or any other game but Halo 2.

gg Microsoft. Thanks for appreciating your loyal customers.

p.s. If I've misunderstood and I AM going to get all the perks, I rescind this entire whinefest.

Okay, so apparently it works if you play it on 360 too...but still...I went through all the Halos to earn my junk...why am I not getting it just because I decided not to spend my time playing an outdated game?

You know what the funny thing is, I didn't even play Halo 2 online, and yet I received an invite. I'm confused... Also, to those who were invited, will they need ODST to play Halo: Reach or what?
