With launchers, ramps and other lethal traps, ModNation Racers just got a lot more interesting. With these new tools on hand, we hope to see someone create a devious track that finally bests Rainbow Road from the original Super Mario Kart. Check out the video after the break.
ModNation Racers trailer introduces devastating props

While what we've seen of the track editor in ModNation Racers has been impressive so far. But it's always lacked a certain amount of ... carnage. It looks like that's about to change, as this new trailer from the PlayStation.Blog introduces some truly wacky props. Creators will be able to place devices like the Wall of Flame, the Turntable of Destruction, and the Devastator. Oh, and did we mention there are giant camels?

Sorry, didn't know. I played the beta for about a week then stopped. I had an extra key but could never find anyone to give it to.

Damn. I want iPhone to have flash (Or whatever it is needed to play these videos). I always mean to jump in the PC to check them out but always forget.
Either way, sounds awesome. I admit I wasn't that excited for this game at first but I'm starting to really get in the hype.

Palm Pre's gettin' Flash 10 pretty soon, so iPhone can't be too far behind...I know how you feel, tho...
As for ModNation Racers, this is the my most anticipated game of the year, with the exception of God of War III...sucks I couldn't make it into the beta...
Didn't have an internet connection on my PS3, but I watched from start to finish as everyone on PSU downloaded their copy from the European PSN and enjoyed the hell out of all the fun creations and races they made with it...yep...just watched...powerless to do anything...but watch...coulda been in it...
Prior to the beta, I think I remember praying to God once, that their be some sort of way I could play this game before it was released...

Can't wait for this. The Beta was loads fun, even with the (very) limited creation tools, lack of splitscreen, dodgy netcode and spotty framerate.
When all those are fixed, this game shall be genius.
Even with only a tiny fraction of the creation tools available, there were some really cool tracks made. Can't wait to see what people will do with the full game.
Glad to see the Spring release is still on track, too. Exact release date soon, plz.

A little weird at first, but once you get the hang of drifting they suddenly become magical.
The little hub you driving around in is perfect for learning to drift. There's a big circle in the middle, and drifting around that taught me how to drift well in minutes. (Also, if you start doing it, everyone else on your server joins in, which is always hilarious.)

Wow, no kidding. It took 1:15 after the race just to load up the next sequence.

Regarding that other stuff: I'm not too sure what it is you're asking.
You first pick a 'theme' (what the track will look like: alpine, desert, etc.), and then you lay down your track. The surrounding will currently be completely blank.
From there you can toy with the track all you like (even completely change its shape), and play around with the surroundings: raise/lower ground, add water, change the weather, add buildings, add trees, etc.
With a little creativity, you can completely change the look of your theme. The Beta only had the Alpine (mountain) theme, but I managed to make a beach level but painting the ground sandy and adding water.
Not sure if any of that answers what you wanted to know, though.

I just hope the gameplay is solid. If it does, it's a definite purchase. Also, that PSN logo music is pretty spiffy.

If this game can receive the same support LBP does with its online level creator this game can be great. It’s cool they are trying to make use game developers or level architects. I didn't think the LBP formula would work but it does. I wonder what other games that formula can work for... FPS or RPG's? They could really change the way games are made.

MarioKart Wii was dull. I actually quite enjoyed Arcade GP though.

There isn't a kart racer in existence that can steal the thunder from Funcom's Speed Punks (Speed Freaks in Europe) in terms of fun factor and excellence of gameplay. Even ModNation, which looks absolutely PHENOMENAL, hasn't got a thing on Speed Punks.
So I ask you, Nintendo who?
